Here's the thing: Notre Dame lost the turnover battle 5-0, dropped 5 passes, had 8 penalties, and missed an easy field goal; but only lost by 3 points to one of the favorites in a BCS conference. Wow. The reaction of so many fans/haters after one game astounds me. One freaking game! Yes, Notre Dame lost to a team they should have beaten. Here's the thing: Notre Dame lost the turnover battle 5-0, dropped 5 passes, had 8 penalties, and missed an easy field goal; but only lost by 3 points to one of the favorites in a BCS conference. They racked up almost 600 yards of offense, and their defense allowed only 1 touchdown. Once they get the mistakes out of their system, ND will shine. Go Irish!

Notre Dame will never be "back" the way Irish fans want. College football has changed and left ND behind. The era of independents is over, and yet ND is still clinging to the idea that being an independent means something. The time is coming, very soon, where ND will have no choice, they'll have to join one of the Super Conferences because when that time comes, there won't be some lame "Notre Dame rule" for the new playoff system.
The past is the past. ND needs to move forward.
