Someone I knew had a recording of a Pete Seeger concert in Modesto on an old reel to reel with this song on it. The story almost seems a bit truncated here compared to that version, but it's still delightful. Sadly, I heard the reel to reel was lost years ago. :(
When I was a little girl my parents had this story on an eight track and every night before my brother and I went to sleep our parents would Abiyoyo and we would sing to it. This downloads brings back such wonderful memories. Thank you so much.
Back in the 70s, I attended Pete Seeger's concert at Massey Hall in Toronto. When we got home, our brand new kitten was hanging off the curtains, swaying from side to side, with his nails out... Abillollo got his name that night, and he was one of my best cats ever! Thanks Pete!
wow what a story!!! my old librarian at school used to play this story with the guitar just like pete!!! i9 totaly forgot about this story i was in probably second grade the last time ive heard this story brings tears to my eyes.

I heard this when i was at least 6 im 38 now. I used to to tell people about it and they thought I made it up. Abiyoyo LIVES Thank you Pete.

I teach toddlers at a day care center. They absolutely LOVE when I read Abiyoyo to them. This is a great clip.
