  • This song is way cool.

  • Love love love this song, my dad used to play it in the early 70 s in our Manchester terrace. An inspirational track..

  • Amusing comments here. "leon blows george away" "all things must pass filler track". one must lead one must follow, leon follows. Interesting cover but lacks the subtlety of the original.

  • One of the ONLY great cover versions in rock and roll history! Leon blows George away...

  • I love when he says "Watch out!" and then tears up the keyboards. When he does a cover of someone else's song it is Leonized....

  • I love this bloody song; Leon does it again !!! Bravo.

  • What a searing dramatic cover...the first class emotive signature voice, the triple layer of keyboards from the tinkling honkytonk to the piercing organ, and the polyrhythmic percussives...jeez, he took this All Things Must Pass filler track and brought it up to full glory. Indeed a great clear version; good going sunnychopper82!

  • What a great montage to watch and crystal clear original recording, good job sunny, thanks for bringing me back to the woman I still am.

  • Cool man, cool!!!!!

  • wonderful song/ great "read" ...really dig the key and tempo changes....thanks for posting...

  • Bamboosa's comment, typical "Idiot Bate". Either give a valid argument as to why he isn't to your liking or go play in the sandbox of your local kindergarten.

  • @cetusra I think you misunderstood Bamboosa's comment. The "dickless soul" he was referring to was Simon Cowell, not Leon.

  • Have to admit... great cover. Kudos to you Leon Russell whoever you are.

  • The single most visceral and exciting man to ever play rock and roll from any generation. Everything he does from, the beautiful and quite complex, This Masquerade to, the dead simple and often obnoxious, Jambalya is a real treat for the listener. His voice, energy and divine rhythm are truly among my seven wonders of the world every time I hear him I fall in love again. A rock and roll saint. Fuck Elvis, Chuck Berry and most of all Eric Clapton they all just warmed the seat for Leon he is King.

  • This man's presence has captivated me on so many fantastic levels as far back as my earliest memories in the early 70s. Now 40, I've carried his music close to me throughout my life. I treasure him so much.

  • So Simon didn't know who Leon Russel is? I always thought he was a soulless dick.

  • @bamboosa You sound like a dickless soul.

  • I haven't heard this in 40 years - effing brilliant.

  • My favorite version of one of my favorite songs from one of my favorite song writers George Harrison. Where did all the good music go?

  • I have always loved this mans voice.

  • awesome piano..awesome Leon!! TY for sharing. George we miss you <3

  • To the ONE person who thumbed down-Beware of Darkness. It can hit you. It can hurt you. And if it doesn't...I will.

  • I like this song & I think Leon sings it better that George...more heart I think.

  • when i heard Simon cowell say who is leon russell on american idol that was the last time i ever watched it, simon is a money hungry producer. leon is a pure artist who has been on countless albums. opps simon do you know who he is now????

  • @BigAdam102485 Why or what was brought up for him not to know who the master of space and time is...Simon has no idea who Leon Russell is what a dork..I also stopped watching Idol the best singers were voted off..It's like the ones who win don't make it..Leon If it wasn't for bad you'd be good...Love you Leon..

  • @BigAdam102485 Why or what was brought up for him not to know who the master of space and time is...Simon has no idea who Leon Russell is what a dork..I also stopped watching Idol the best singers were voted off..It's like the ones who win don't make it..Leon If it wasn't for bad you'd be good...Love you Leon..Come back to the island...

  • @BigAdam102485 You know what Simon may not really known who LR was bcause LR was quiet for a few years but I bet he knows Leon now!!!!!!!!!!

  • This is the best Leon!

  • from Ireland -dermont McGarthy, dublin likes this.......

  • Drunk girl approves - but Leon has aways been her favourite = imagine the 8 year old boogieing down ,,,

  • his words transcends time.....his music is magic...

  • Magic!!!! saw him this weekend by the ocean...........always incredible.....he was riding around on a scooter and he was flying in the wind!!!!

  • Has anyone ever see this man smile?

  • @asap3d Oh yeah, and a sexy smile it is...check out "Alcatraz" some of the Mad Dogs and Englishmen videos, some of the ones with Willie Nelson.....there are many.

  • @asap3d Saw him perform at the Hilo Theater in Hilo Hawaii a couple years ago and trust me , he was all smiles. Shook hands with people in the audience from stage. What a graceful human being, love him! He told lot of old road stories. I could just listen to him talk for hours.

  • @asap3d Yeah..its beautiful..just like him

  • amazing!!!

  • Whether playing his own songs or doing covers like this, Leon was,is and will always be AMAZING!!!

  • @judecreek2 i;m pretty sure George and him wrote this together

  • @ hey judecreek2, you are soooo right, leon is one of the most accomplished keyboardist ever known and also a great guitar man. he is just great, period, pity the people who haven't heard him and don't know who he is.....he will be in my town in September at the college. wish we could keep him.

  • @bullysmom74 I have seen Leon many times.. I live in Oklahoma, Leons state of mind. He will be playing at our state fair this year for free concert. I am planning to see him for one more time! Has always been a different drummer than most other players in the Music game. Will always be in my heart!

  • 40 year old music still better than anything you'll find today.

  • lovely, meaningful and we need to listen to this again and again.

  • Leon & George were buddies. This is the BEST cover of this song .

  • @verbaud I agree! George's versions are so sincere, it takes a really special artist to match him. Leon did it!

  • George Harrison wrote this song, his version on the Classic "All things must pass" album. George and Leon also performed this together live at the "Concert for Bangladesh"....search the vid here...its fantastic. This is Leon's solo version. A great take on the classic song.

  • Yep, definitely off of the "Shelter People" release. Though the song is credited to George Harrison, I don't think he is actually playing, is he?

Anyway, great tune. Been jammin' to this one since day one, and sounds even better now.

  • Watch out now, take care beware of greedy leaders.Who take you where you should not go.While weeping at the cedars. They just want to grow.Beware of darkness.

  • this is the studio cut not the bangladesh concert

  • Really, shoots guess i havent' heard it since the album came out really.. my bad..i was being rude anyway..

  • Wrong.

  • Tulsa Great !!

  • yes george did do covers moron. ask bob dylan. and to say such devilish lies of clapton is evil. he and george remained friends through it all. you guys really dont know much bout eric, george, and leon

  • fuck eric clapton. "slow hand" is NOT a compliment. clapton is good at playing notes but hes DEVOID of any sort of soul or emotion. its boring to listen to. clapton is fucking cardboard. the musical equivalent of soy burgers. and i've seen concert for george, leon stole the fucking show! i could go on about how much i hate eric clapton for days. thanks for letting me vent though

  • nice version

  • whoa,! arguing over Leon or George? Teenage level argument, ha,ha! Face the facts kids; Do your homework, Who sold more music? Had, more top 10 hits, Composed the most music overall? (hint, George did not resort to covers).

  • "Resort" to covers? Covers can be, and are often a form of flattery and respect toward those you admire.

Leon and George were both amazing, but totally separate, entities. Both deserve respect. Who cares who SOLD more or had more HITS. Money and fame is not what makes music good.

  • And steal Harrison's woman.

  • @fuckallthatshit What can you do other than prove how stupid you are?

  • i could teach you how to play the blues. sadly, you're a clapton sympathizer and i dont think i'd get very far.

  • lotta soft shoe shufflers on this tunes critics, get real leon is a great musician, beware of darkness for real, leon baaaaad

  • I'm giving you 6 stars ****** for this one.Thank you for having it & for sharing it with us.A very powerful message indeed.

  • are you joking? fucking CLAPTON? kill yourself and take ol' slowhand with you.

  • must be your daddy dont let you suck him off anymore......i love leon but clapton blows him away....PUNK...i bet youd like a rap version the best

  • I love Leon on this version of this song!!!!!!!!!!

What an arranger and bandleader. Multi talent . What a treasure

  • probably the most amazing song writer of our time we need to say thank you

  • Thank you Leon,God bless

  • @pinkindia LOL

  • i hung out with leon he was so amazing the nicest guy and so amazing>>>>>

  • I love Leon!!!!

  • Wonderful Leon! No one will ever be as cool as he is!

  • you are so right. My first concert!!! still unbelievable. I covet his ability...oh to write the truth.

  • Really terrible!

  • i like the spock's beard cover.

  • I respectfully disagree - Harrison's voice was better than Leon's though I like them both. But my favorite version of this song is by FAR Clapton's cover during the Concert for George show. It is phenominal!

  • Me too!...just the way Clapton sings it. 2nd after that is the Bangladesh version.

  • There is somtimes a rivalry between Texas and Oklahoma. This song ended that.

  • My favorite version of this song without

    question!

  • A BETTER version than Harrison's original version...But then Leon has a much better voice.....

  • I met Leon he was so sweet amazing night i hung out for hours with him he is amazing wow I was honored

  • Whoa.

I even liked this piece better than Stranger back in the day.

    Thanks so much.

    Go Dick Cheney go.

  • Comment removed

  • Joke re Dick Cheney, yes????????

Leon sings everything better than the original.

  • While Weeping Atlas Cedars

  • Message is relevant. Thank you Mr. Russell.

  • In fact, hargisp2, I read lot of it , specially Paul: " Dont read with the letter that kills, but with the spirit that vitalizes ". Depravity is to obtain profits from overcrowding the world, with people that can have hunger , cold , pain and agony. But one may go to the chappel and forget about it, just " reading the Bible ".

  • this song is about the 7 sins, but it is also about forgiveness...listen,read,

  • So, forgive yourself 69MC97gc...

  • I have...have you?

  • A lot, my dear observer.

  • i think miguelmouta took to much acid. It was the hippie generation that led to the ongoing depravity we see today. Sin progresses. The 60's didn't have the answer. They were just as brain washed as the rest. Read the Bible.

  • I read it a lot, specially Paul: " Dont read with the letter that kills, but with the spirit that vitalizes ". Depravacy cames from profits that groups did obtain from overcrowding the world, with souls like yours and mine, that can fell hunger , cold , pain and agony.

  • @hargisP2 No; the depravity is and always been in the reactionary; those whose better days are behind them, who have given up on the future. The hippies didn't know squat, but at least they defined themselves in terms of America.

  • this song grows more relevant with each passing day. Love you Leon. Love you, George (& we all miss you so much).

  • I love how Leon does this George Harrison song

  • My favorite Leon song! Thanx

  • I saw Leon at Tampa Stadium in Florida, in 1973. Makes me proud to be an Okie! (even tho I'm technically from my mom)

  • Yes Indeed.

  • Heed this man's warning. Fabulous.

  • listen and stand up..take care. now and always

  • This song is actually a George Harrison composition, from his 1970 album "All Things must Pass", great song, and I love this version, by the way!

  • this blues is sad and deep.

  • This song tell the bad reality the hippies did warn everybody . Now the

squares ( the "normals") are feeling the pain of depersonalization forces acting

in their sons. They deserve it. Cheers !

  • Of course ,this song is about soul enemies. But they grow from the

the universe each person chooses to live .

  • Interestingly enough...I understand your perspective.

  • @miguelmouta No they don't, they could have inherited the wind. Its sad. We used to be a country, even in our conflicts. We were often crazy, but there is no "we" anymore; it's all you or me.

  • This man has such a haunting presence about him. I enjoy his music very much.
