In taekwondo, we call this the 540 kick! The tornado kick for us lands with the opposite leg from the kicking rather then the same leg. I love 540's though!!!

no you idiot the TKD tornado kick doest need some space to run you can do it while youre standing and your foot doest have to go so high like in the kung fu tornado kick and ONLY kung fu training clothes (i dont remember the name) are orange...

in kung fu or tae kwon do it isnt a 540 but in tricking it would be called a 540 as they did land on their kicking leg.

actually, the wushu that exists today is more along the lines of acrobatics and sport. the real shaolin kung fu is kept in the temple and rarely revealed

I learned how to do the kick by wearing an ankle weight on my kicking leg and did about 20 tornado kicks. Then I took the weights off and did about 10 kicks. After doing this for a while i finally got where i could consistantly land on my kicking leg. Also, don't try to land on the kicking leg. Just when you practice the tornado kick focus on speed and you will land on your kicking leg eventually. I hope this helps :)

i just notice the difference between a trickers 540 and a kung fu 540 and i love the kung fu one's more. they like kick higher also or something idk, but thanks a lot

but my friend who does wushu who was ranked like 40th in canada says u have to spin  540 to call it an actual 540 which i agree with :|

crescent kick is a circular kick when ur on the gronud, u can say jumping crescent is the same thing as tornado.

Nice kick, but I have to add you must train contemporary/modern wushu, not just kung fu.. I am a traditional practitioner and we don't run when doing any of our movements.. Also as the previous guy said, it was a 540 not a tornado.
