  • Awesome film awesome soundtrack... takes me back to my youth !!

  • Relax Max!

  • Consenso! Navigator.... :-)

  • The middle bit (cheesy synth pop) I used to play at work to annoy my colleagues. They slowly grew to love it because I would always play it at the end of the day when work had been stressful and we'd all get up and do some silly 80's dance. In 2006 one of these colleagues and a close friend took his life at age 29. This piece always reminds me of him and the stupidly funny times we had working together. I think of you every day Chris. Well almost, I'm sure you know matey. :-D

  • @NarcissistsDie That's sad to hear, at least you showed em some good times right.

  • FAVOURITE QUOTES; 'See ya later alligator, haw haw'. 'If your gonna learn how to swim you gotta jump in the water'. 'He just wanted to phone home'.

  • born in mid 1988 and this still means a lot to me :)

  • well tell them i have enough money here in the us to help them thout

  • you havent got the soundtrack you idiots its all over the world !!!!!!! loool!!!! whatever you do!!!!!!!

  • I always remember the scene where the kid goes forward in time and he realizes he doesnt belong there and needs to get bk to his present time, the bit where he steps just at the door of the ship and his family r calling him to come to them but he doesnt, I remember seeing his mom crying for him to come. As I kid I never understood wot was going on in that bit and always wanted him to go to them. Great film every kid shud watch Flight of the Nav, kids movies today shud b more like it.

  • @RaikenXion He didn't go to them because, as he said, "That is my family, but it's not my home. My home is back in 1978." He didn't belong in that time and had to try to get back to where he came from.

  • @IsoscelesKramer I know all that already lol, I was just explaining how I never understood that part of the film as a kid bk then. I think u misunderstood my comment.

  • I haven't seen this in YEARS...I remember it playing on TV all the time..I forgot the music was so damn awesome. I have to agree, 4:39 is where it starts to really kick ass! lol.

  • This movie is awesome, one of my favorite movies, and it was one of the first movies that got me interested in sci-fi. :D

  • I think the first segment is the best. as a 18 year old guy its quite embarassing when im showing this to my mates and i nearly starting sobbing cause i love it so much :P

  • I got owned I grew up in the 90's (they were still good) and now as an adult its almost 2012 everyone thinks the world is going to split in half and the economy is garbage.

  • I always wanted MAX to come back when David says at the end "will i ever see you agaiN?" and there be a FOTN 2!

  • No...the best bit is at 6:16....that's the bit when he relaises he's "the navigator" and can fly it

  • ai yaiyaiyaiyaiyaiyaiyaiyaiyaiyaiyaiyaiyaiyaiyaiyaiyai yai...yai...yai......

  • Rumors has started that Disney is going to make a remake of this move, and the black Hole. Dont know if its true, but I have read loads about it on the net. Love this movie.

  • holy shit i havent seen this film for years what a classic!

  • I love this movie! Grow up with this * -* Hello from Italy !

  • Great upload. I can't find this soundtrack anywhere!

  • wow. this brings back childhood memories. i can't wait to share this movie with my kids when they're old enough. my favorite part of this begins at 1:55 and ends at 2:34.

  • I as well Miss My Family

  • Love This

  • Compliant

  • Oh, this music is awesome. I wish this film was more recognized and appreciated.

  • Hey big al, too many twinkies!!!

  • Consenso! Navigator.... :-)

  • wow - i was 5 months old when this came out :) so happy i was part of the best era ever! long live the 80's -

p.s hannah montana you can kiss my ass......

  • Loved this film! Thanks for posting the soundtrack. It doesn't seem to be available anywhere (except for a couple hundred bucks!). What a great era--the 80s. I had a chance to work with Peter Donen who did special effects on this film. He was the son of film director Stanley Donen (Singin' In The Rain). And my wife worked with Tony Urbano who did the creatures in Navigator including Max. (He also did Men In Black aliens). How fun! Compliance!

  • @raoulandtheking Hahaha! Yes!

  • I was just listening to the music from Captain America. This theme came to mind, so I decided to look it up. IT'S THE SAME COMPOSER! MY LIFE IS COMPLETE!

  • relax, max!

  • I don't leak, Humans leak...

  • "He just said he wanted to phone home!"

  • God I wnna learn those little guitar parts from 5:20 to 5:41 those are my favorite parts of this music

  • @Hazardous95 Isn't it all synth?

  • I like Silvestri's music. I also like the fact that he also composed for another time travel movie, Back to the Future, of course.

  • Seens to me a piece of this music can be found In Young Guns 2..

  • I love this music! It's so atmospheric and catchy! A classic nostalgia enchantment!

  • Been humming the main theme all day, i dont know why, haven't seen the film in years! So had to listen, what a great film score.

  • AMAZING!!!!! :-D

  • It's a movie I will never forget. There was ET and Goonies, but this movie stimulated young minds and took them to another level. It was way beyond of it's time. This was 25 years ago!

  • I set my OK button on my computer to say compliance instead of OK

  • Alan silvestri is a great producer, he also done the sountracks to all the c.h.i.p.s episodes and many others what a great film this is, 80s were the best times for me.

  • Comment removed

  • One of the most underrated scores EVER. I love the whole score but like 1stGGMan particularly when it kicks in at 2:47.

  • Compliance! :D

  • HEY TO EVERY ONE WHO WAS A FAN OF THIS FILM TAKE A RIDE AND FLY WITH THIS THING CHINA MADE IT AND DARK CHILD TOO.

  • PCPopple o'yea. Can't even get this any more on last fm or iTunes. Big Thanks for the post, love it when reaches 2:47 :).

  • Thank you!!!!!! For posting this! I LOOOOVE THIS Music!

  • I have the complete soundtrack. If anyone wants it let me know.

  • @PCPopple i want it just to let you know

  • @PCPopple I DO! :)

  • makes me feel homesick for my childhood

  • @dannyofthededd You're not alone in that! I agree with you 100%

  • @dannyofthededd Couldn't agree more.. :)

  • @dannyofthededd I know what you mean!

  • @dannyofthededd Ya, i really hate that feeling, but love it at the same time lol.

  • I love, love, love this movie and its music!

  • It still blows my mind that Alan Silvestri composed this entire score on one synthesizer/sequencer, the Synclavier II. Unquestionably a harbinger of future endeavors.

Of course, this still stands out, because not everybody can score with a Synclavier.

  • @CircleCityEric

Synclavier PSMT I'd imagine, no doubt with extra voice cards and a one-of-a-kind sound library. And all of it on the original ABLE computer. The track where the Sync shines the brightest, IMHO, is "Transporting The Ship." NOTHING sounded like that back in 1986.

  • @synclavier123 Could Alan have drawn up some of those sounds, himself?

I love those atmospheric sounds during that part of the score. I don't know if it was that or the Toto son "Rosanna" which made me (subconsciously) want to be a synthesist (in addition to a guitarist/singer).

  • @CircleCityEric Many of the sounds were in fact samples, which are editable using envelope generators (ADSR) and effects. These would have been the drums, strings, some of the vocal pads, etc. The customization would have really been on the FM synthesis side, which is where the Synclavier owns all of the competition. Ultimately though, it would have been Alan's creativity and knowing how to pick sounds and create tracks that were appropriate for the film. It's synergy.

  • @synclavier123 Agreed.

  • @CircleCityEric

    -

"Of course, this still stands out, because not everybody can score with a Synclavier."

    -

Even though it was a decade later, Mark Snow scored the whole X-Files series on Synclavier. Though admittedly he did use a few instruments that werent on it like the Korg MicroPiano

  • @Edbrad WOW! I wouldn't have known if you hadn't said it. I thought he at lest used aRoland JX-8p for the whistle sound. :D

  • @CircleCityEric

    -

The whistle sound was apparently from a Proteus module, though at some point he chose to keep up the myth that it was his wife whistling. He hardly ever used the whistle sound apart from in the main titles.

  • Hey blimpo! Oink oink too many twinkies xD

  • The song from the geek's car is "Trapped in my mind"

  • i can't believe i haven't seen this movie yet, this theme is awesome

  • @81camarosteven you need to because it's a really good movie! I can't get enough from watching it.

  • @PCPopple seen it now, it's a good film

  • even as a kid i didn't like when the spaceship became pee wee herman. but i liked the twisted sister reference.

  • The best part starts at 4:39!

  • @muratveli No the best part is at 7:07 there a lot of other aprts missing too.

  • @muratveli that was my favorite too!

  • @muratveli Indeed! Can't beat the old Synclavier!

  • @muratveli i agree!!

  • @muratveli I agree also

  • Really REALLY nice editing and putting all these great amazing songs together in this video. THANK YOU!!

  • 80s movies rocked so much better than the crap they relese today. Flight of the navigator is the best disney film of the 80s full of great fx and music. Hopefully disney will not try to remake this classic

  • "Ur the Navigator!!""

  • 2:50 - 7:06

  • you little weezle, dirt bag, scuzzz bucket!!!! brilliant!

  • my favorite movie as a kid.

  • meraviglia:*****

  • So 80s Synth, I love it

  • omg totally agree with forever after as soon as you here that first note you can almost feel yourself blastin bk thru time i think we all need that every now and again

  • My favorite theme in that movie and is so 80's and great starts at 5:06, still does a number with 80's images on my brain lol.

  • In the first scene of when David meets young Sarah Jessica Parker, the kid sees a music video on tv and I'd like to know what song it is. In that scene she mentions the group Twisted Sister but I looked into it and I didn't find the song. I don't think she was referring to what was playing on tv.

The lyrics were "No no no no no no, No no no no no no" and it's not the Twisted Sister's song "We're not going to take it" or "I want to rock". Anyone know the band or the song title? Thanks.

  • @chrism76 hey the song was a mystery to me too lol. its says in in the IMDB.com site. its called "move your love" by Blancmange =0)

  • @chrism76 in the movie do you know the name of the song playing in the geeks car? when they are asking for directions?

  • @cassidy99ful

Sorry Cassidy, I haven't checked my inbox in a long while.

It's from the Beach Boys and it was the first time I heard that song and loved it from the get go.. when I saw that scene.

I get around - Beach Boys

  • my only regret is that my speakers cant go any louder..

  • I remember this movie.. i was the only person in my family that that watched over 40 times and i still love watching it. it will never leave my memories no matter how old I am.

  • great music, great film...

  • Favourite bit in film:

Ships zooms up 20 miles into space.

    Max: "You requested this distance."

David: "I didn't mean straight up, I meant along the ground!"

    Max: "Oh!"

lol, I still watch my DVD of this film and I'm 25, but its still a great film.

  • @giles852002 I'm 25 to lol. Good times.

  • 2:51-4:39 SO AWESOME!!!! What is that music called???? Also, LOVE 4:44-6:10 :D

  • Ugh...I hope they don't do a remake.. The movie is bad ass for it's nostalgia. However if and when they finally do, they better not screw it up like they do with 90 percent of all remakes..

  • @Psychowilly Right now I am looking forward to a remake. I think it can work as long as they do it right. I will have to admit that this movie was meant for the time it was made and would not be the same in another decade, but I await to see how a modern version of this will happen. What gives me confidence is that the remake for "The Karate Kid" was not bad at all- but the original was most definitely better. I just hope the remake for this is not changed to having a girl as the main character.

  • @JLC31383 I just feel the way Disney loves to crank out awful remakes, I'm under the impression it will be a CGI badly casted cheese fest. As long as they keep Michael Bay buried in a desert somewhere far far away from the directing rights..I guess I can breath a bit easier.

  • @Psychowilly I do know a remake would lack the classic feeling that the original gives. I also think it would definitely not have as good a story- but the remake for "The Karate Kid" still made it look like it can work as long as it is done right. I started thinking this probably would be better off having a sequel instead of a remake just like "Tron" is doing. They could have done a story where David Scott Freeman has a son who meets "Max" and has adventures with him flying around in his ship.

  • I'm looking in particular for the musical piece where David has just escaped his cell, and finally comes into contact with the ship. The spacey yet eerie track. I'm not even going to attempt to find the actual soundtrack, but if anybody has the ability to upload it, that would be damn fine of you.

  • @Psychowilly Its on this video mate, it starts 4:45 mins in, its a great piece of music.

  • Does anybody know what Joey Cramer looks like now or did he just fade away with the 1980's?

  • @JLC31383 LOL. He works at a sporting goods store. Apparently not all child stars make long lasting careers...

  • Classic stuff, why don't we here this sort of music anymore

  • I love the 4:40 - 6:20 segment!

  • I want to go back to 80s. Was such a great time. I saw this movie as a child in mid 80s, and it was my favorite movie in 80s. People of 70s and 80s, we should be proud of our childhood.

What type of childhood of today kids are having? Agilera, Britney Spears, or Lady Gaga? Total rubbish.

  • @aaaaa895 there are good shows like avatar: the last airbender, futurama, naruto, etc; but you're right, more quality back then and more heart.

  • @tascott59 I think a remake or making a part 2 to this film would be good. The F/X's are awesome in this film for it's time, but a remake wouldn't be bad. If noting else, we have it on dvd!!

  • I've posted a video I made using the theme to Young Guns 2. If you listen to it, you'll see where there are parts that sound the same!

  • I saw this films when I was a kid. It was one of my favs. I'm now 35 and just showed my girlfriend. We saw it at Wal Mart for 6$!! She really didn't want to watch it, but I put it on anyways.. She could not stop laughing!! She loved it! So now I'm always saying " Complince ", in a pee wee herman voice. It cracks her up... However, have you noticed how some parts of the song is just like the score to Young Guns 2. Alan did do both soundtracks.

  • @tascott59: youre shitting me! they really are considering a remake? oh my god happy tears in my eyes!

  • brilliant.

  • the events of the movie happened to me , although i had drunk a few ales

  • "Compliance! Navigator"

  • LOL What on earth was the last track? Haha this is one of the most awesome movies of my childhood though :D

  • Great:-) einfach der Beste Kinderfilm der 80er

  • I love this song am just cool with this film become big

  • Thanks for posting this

  • Fantastic movie and theme.

  • I miss the 80's, great time, great movies. I wish I could go back to being a kid again, see all this again for the first time :)

  • It always used to freak me out near the end when he was traveling back through time :S just the read clouds and the lightning and the music and the uh... expression on Max's... uh... screen?

Thanks so much for the upload! :D

  • ooo yes I know what you mean when I was little I used to get freaked out too some of the parts gave me the willies when they are doing all thoes experiments on his brain and all that stuff goes on the screens

  • Didn't they find the Original model of the ship rusting away in some guys scrap yard recently ? its a shame that they just let it go like that rather than put in a museum somewhere for kids of today to enjoy it like we did when we were growing up....

  • really great songs...

I was scared to death of this movie when I was little... I couldn't go through the beggining, when he goes to his house and suddenly his parents don't exist anymore, and nobody believes him. Then, after, he finally finds them, and they are old and ugly. Freaked me out...

Only when I was about 12 I watched it to the very ending, and simply loved it!

Those songs remember me, I don't know why, about a regular Monday of that time.

  • @RockyBalboa7777: I'll bet the children of this age will say that about contemporary movies when they are as old as us ;) beauty is in the eye of the beholder!

  • @Terrajin444 I don't think that is entirely true; truly beautiful things are beautiful even when there's no one around to see them.

  • @ 5:20 to 5:48 sounds like the song from billy the kid!!! this movie is good! =D

  • Oh, now THIS takes me back...back in the days where we didn't need computers and boobs and sex scenes to keep people interested.

  • @WeirdGirlCyndi

Yeah, unfortunately movies have lost the magic they once had. I mean, don't get me wrong, there are good ones here and there, absolutely, but generally speaking they just don't have that quality.

  • Your never to old to watch a classic, you only forget them. And how sweet is it when they just suddenly turn up!!

  • e un film di un tempo che non ced piu in cui i ragazzi crescevano lentamente e con fantasia nopn come oggi che crescono troppo in fretta

  • best soundtrack ever :)

  • Sounds VERY similar to Jean Michel Jarre's Equinoxe 1.

    EXCELLENT SCORE!!!!!

    childhood memories :-)

  • This was the greatest movie of my childhood. I remember watching this when I was 4. I have it on DVD and still watch it! I LOVE THIS MOVIE!

  • does anyone know the song in the geeks car?

  • @Issus38 Trapped in my mind

I don't know by what band

  • So you need me and my Inferior brain to fly tht thing?

Correction, I need the Superior information in your Inferior brain to fly this..."thing"

  • @Issus38 Too many twinky's lol

  • @PogeMahoney hey blimpo,oink,oink.

  • See you later alligator!

  • This is one of the best memories from my childhood. :)

  • I have the DVD and I just got done seeing it. Love this movie classic. Kno where I can get this song?!

  • Thank you so much for bringing back those old good memories.

  • God... I remember this movie ^_^

One of my absolute favorites. I'm glad to see it's still liked and appreciated!

  • Glad I could find this here. I bought this movie at Best Buy. Its good to know I'm not the only person in civilization who has heard of this movie. Seemed that way for a while.

  • @Rugratsfan yer not alone, I grew up on this flick!

  • oh and i love the sould of the bass synth its very erotic lol

  • i love it how the begining of the song makes you want to cry, then when it hits 2mins somthing, you want to get up a jigg lol, i want this song played at my funeral hahaha

  • When we were all little and totally believed in our imagination<3 love these tracks soo much<3

  • Yes, I remember this movie... im watching this movie again and the last time I watched this I was 5 or 6... now I´m 23 and after listening this song I feel like I´m an innocent kid again... when we grow up we lose our imagination but its good feeling like this sometimes

  • @foreverandafter We need movies like this again nice and simple and a good story that didn't need fancy effects and CG to catch ones attention

  • @glitch1

I loved the cgi in this one.

  • @foreverandafter its good to feel like this ALL the time. trust me.

  • @foreverandafter Hahha, same here, I'm watching this movie again in Youtube. I used to have this movie on tape when I was a little kid.

  • man love these songs!!

  • OMG,,MEMORIES!!! Thanx for posting this!

  • This film is so nostalgic it almost makes me wanna cry. Brilliant film. Brilliant times.

  • @WeNjIbOo

I know just what you mean. I grew up on this movie (as well as a host of others from the 80s) and when I hear this music and other synth instrumental scores like it, it makes me desperately long for that era. It's bittersweet really, but it's a sad reminder of what once was and never will be again.

If only we could time travel.

  • better than your spelling.

  • cool!!!!
