  • sr80i vs ath-m50 which is better ?

  • Awesome review, most people talk too much about build quality when what matters most is the sound quality. These retail here in new Zealand for $230 thats bout $190USD, would I be better off trying to import some or is that price still worth it?

  • @jawmalawmnz I'd say they're still worth it!

  • @jawmalawmnz Just going to tell you that both build quality and sound quality matter equally. You don't want your $500 dollar headphones to have the build quality of $5 dollar ones, no matter how great they sound, just like you don't want $5 with the build quality that last forever but sound like trash. See what I'm saying?

  • I think the Grado SR-80i's and Audio-Technica ATH-M50's are both great headphones under the $200 range. But my favorite pair below $200 or actually $100 for that matter is the AKG K240 Studio's. But as with headphones what's best for some is not best for all.

  • @jessh114 Very true - The AKGs have gotten great reviews!

  • have you given them away yet

and can you do a review for the AKG 450

  • @DavidPileGuitar Yes they have. I'll check 'em out. Thanks for the suggestion!

  • Giveaway PLEASE!

  • When will we be seeing the giveaway?

  • I know I saw the video. I'm talking about the Koss UR29 headphones, are the Koss UR29 headphones good for an inexpensive pair?

  • For a first, inexpensive pair of headphones are they decent?

  • @TheFunction2 I answer this in the video lol

  • Hey bro, I noticed you've been giving the M50's a lot of praise in your other videos. They definitely deserve it, but for just a little more money, you could get Sennheiser HD25-1ii's, or V-MODA M-80's. The M-80's in particular have been getting a lot of buzz lately too... maybe you should review them... (: keep up the good work mah brotha, thumbs up!

  • @TheExplodingPanda Yep I've heard a lot about them so I plan on checking them out!

  • What is your opinion about the Koss UR29's?

  • @TheFunction2 Meh.

  • Nice t-shirt

  • @freestinje thx :]

  • If you had to live with one pair, these or the M50's?

  • @Metallica2131 M50s.

  • Hey I wonder if you can do a review on SOL republic Track HD and compare it to the SR80i? they both in same price range but different in build (closed back vs opened back). I like this SR80i but the sounds leak make me a bit hesitant in choosing it.

Another question: did you put it at max volume when you test the sounds leak?

  • @Thamielnguyen I've heard a lot about them so I plan on checking them out! The sounds don't leak unless you're BLASTING music lol believe me, I've tried.

  • @marquesbrownlee wow thanks for the quick reply, I can't wait for your next review

  • how do the SR80i's compare to the M50's?

  • @98austin76 They are very different. Both, however, are awesome for their price range.

  • I wish I could get these, my parents refuse to let me buy headphones cause they think it's a waste of money :(

  • @7399015 They're never heard the SR80i's I'm guessing lol

  • hey Marques, Reviews I've read on the SR60 are pretty favorable. What do you think about them and how do they compare to the SR80? thanks

  • @runfentonrun They're pretty solid - not as good, but still great for the price!

  • 800 Likes.............GIVEAWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @Darkchickenex1 Coming soon!

  • i heard sr325i and they are amazing

  • @nakaroxx No disagreement here!

  • nice review, just bought a pair off of amazon

  • @fuck6969Bitches Thanks - Enjoy!

  • nahh I'd rather buy ATH-M50wh (White version)

  • @RainTVShow Check out my review of them! :D

  • V-moda cross fade lp's or Audio Technica ATH-M50 ?

Please respond I meaning to get a pair of quality headphones but i'm stumped on these 2.

  • @11SnipeShow11 M50s! Check out my video review of the M50s. I don't know why you left this comment on the sR80i review lol

  • Which would you recommend to me? SR80i's or Solo HDs? I don't listen to Rap, mainly Dubstep and Metal.

  • @fatedead505 Of those two choices I'd say give the SR80i's a shot!

  • @marquesbrownlee Awesome, they're around $100-$120 so it would be alot cheaper for me and I've had a bad history with Beats so I'll be giving the SR80i's a look in a week or two.

  • @fatedead505 ath m50

  • @fatedead505 SR80i's

  • what about the Bose AE2?

  • @theblockster18 akg a480s and audio technic a ath m50s are better

  • @theblockster18 They're decent but remember the cost!

  • Do you think the v-moda crossfade lp's are worth it for $105 on amazon?

  • @THExJIZZ I think so, yes!

  • You should do a review on Klipsch S4a or S4i ear buds. I heard they are a lot better than beats and a lot cheaper. I just want to hear what you say because i really trust your reviews and probably the best reviewer out there.

  • @johnkofler I have plans to. They've gotten great reviews. Thanks for the suggestion!

  • @ComprendeNon I actually didn't notice that mistake with the cheap and price until you stated it.

  • Liking this station, Marques seems like a cool dude.

  • @SeanOMatic Thanks :]

  • @marquesbrownlee awesome review :)

  • ...735 Likes, COME ON!

  • So how do you think these compare to the Audio Technica ATH-M50

  • @Jal7141 Both pairs of headphones are amazing for the price.

  • The outro-logo looks like the headphones... ;)

  • @VozeMedia You're actually right haha good catch.

  • Thats great I love mini speakers!

  • @Protomanbeawsome Hahaha perfect.

  • So are these the best headphones for $100

  • @Protomanbeawsome yessir

  • My dad is going to be a dealer of these guys! Can't wait to try them out.

  • @iMaxieman Awesome!!

  • Come on guys, we need to reach 800 likes. THEN A GIVEAWAY!!!!

  • @Darkchickenex1 You know what to do!

  • @marquesbrownlee I had done ages ago :)

  • @StephenAllison87 Fair enough lol

  • Marques! Which headphone would YOU recommend that has nice quality, very little sound leakage, and would cost $50 or less?

  • @NikkaP1ease That's a pretty restricting budget for ALL those things. I'll look around and see what I can find.

  • LOVE that thumbnail. Grado > Beats :DD Respect!

  • @300DeeJay300 LOL Thanks :}

  • 700th like. <3

  • @NikkaP1ease Yay!

  • SR-80i、ATH-WS70

    which Bass is better??

    thank you

  • @gary811231 ATHWS70

  • Great review, I especially found it interesting when you were explaining the difference between performance in the open vs closed backing headphones. I had no idea that made such a difference, but it makes total sense with how much extra room the sound would have to resonate with the back being open.

    Thanks!!

    :D

  • @zzxxccvvbbnnmmist Thanks - Glad this helped you!

  • another great informative and educated review :D But I love how with your thumbnail pic that you're showing people how much the Beats by Dre. are ripping off the consumer with terrible sound quality at an extortionate rate :P Keep promoting the real heroes like the grados !! mad props :)

  • @BowlingForHenry Haha thanks - I appreciate the comment!

  • Hey Marques i saw your vid on the ATH M50 Audio technica and it helped me alot because im in a 200$ budget and my brother introduced me to the Earphones and i was watching this video and dude you do a very good review on these Earphones!

  • @111tombomb Thanks - Glad you're enjoying the M50s!

  • Awesome pair of headphones! And good choice with some Overwerk!! I can see why they split the cable because otherwise they wouldn't be able to have such a simple headband. Yet again , awesome review!!

  • @adancingdog Thanks! Yeah it all makes sense :]

  • Very detailed and informative review. I always check out your channel whenever I'm buying tech stuff. Keep up the awesome videos!

  • @IRmShaDe Thanks - more to come!

  • @6lue5kies I'm glad you enjoy the videos! :D

  • @6lue5kies Agreed!

  • @marquesbrownlee Which is the best pair at any price?

  • Hey man, I'm a drummer and guitar player, and I'm the one in my band that mixes the sound of all instruments. I'm thinking in buying the audio techninca ath-m50, do you recommend any pair of headphones better? Thanks and love your videos!

  • @frederico179 There are better headphones, but you'll pay a lot more.

  • are these better than ath m50's ???

  • @xSwiftCreedx I'd say no, but both are amazing for the price.

  • @marquesbrownlee okay good (: your video of the m50's convinced me to purchase them. and they are AMAZING. thank you soo much and im loving your videos!

  • are they good for trance or any electronic music?"

  • @dnguyen963 Decent, but better for natural sounds. Stuff like jazz, rock, etc. sounds amazing.

  • This video introduced me to "Overwerk"! He's got amazing tracks! I thank you for that, one of my favorite artist atm! You sir have great taste in music! You should do a tour of your favorite playlist!

    Would be awesome! :^)

  • @C0LDWiR3 Nice - Glad you like his work! I include something like that in a future tour video lol

  • You should do the Bose QC15 Headphones! I bought them and I would like to have an opinion of what you would think of them! Thank You.

  • @xXLyokoProductionsXx I'll definitely check them out!

  • @brenjunior Thank you!

  • nice video. subscribed!

  • @7sgk Thanks!

  • @marquesbrownlee These or Audio Technica ATH-M50 Im into portable (iPod) music and don't usually use headphones for anything else

  • @Epic5auce if you intend to use the cans in a portable situation, m50s are definitely better. but also check the ultrasone dj1 as theyre similar price and IMO better looking and sounding than m50s

  • thank you very much for putting the beats to shame

  • @whipmanjak You are very welcome. lol

  • @marquesbrownlee Audio Technica ATH-M50 or Grado SR80i ? :))

  • @DanmarksTH for use in anywhere thats not quiet, or use around people m50s are better. theyre bassier as well if you like that.

  • Subscribed :)

  • @Darkchickenex1 Thanks!

  • @marquesbrownlee Loving your videos so far, just checked some more out, but i was wondering what was the cool transition when text goes on the video to some of your motions etc...

  • @Darkchickenex1 Thanks! I do that manually with Adobe Premiere. lol

  • @marquesbrownlee Oh, alright, thanks a lot!!! Much enjoying vids

  • Is it good for bands like Coldplay and Rock music in general?

  • @Eihcra96 Yep that's where these excel!

  • Please review the Sennheiser HD 25-1 II headphones!

  • @Dalinoh I'll check them out!

  • should i get these or the m-50s?

  • @yosoyplatano Whatever fits your budget!

  • @yosoyplatano I have owned a pair of m50 and have also tried the sr60i/80i/125i and they are two very different types of hp's. It really boils down to your budget and sound signature. While the m50 is a bit more expensive it is closed-back and can produce a deeper sound, while the sr80i is open-back it is more "airy," a good thing for a wider sound stage. Also the m50's build quality is much better (and can fold for portability) and sr80i... not so much.

Great overview by the way, Marques.

  • how do you add that nice panning to your video when you show what your reviewing?

  • @Vicky6329 100% thanks to my tripod and Indislider.

  • @marquesbrownlee How do you compare this to the V-Jays? sound quality wise.

  • I think you start to become an audiophile when you get to own a really good pair of Earphones, Headphones or any other listening device. Just like LCD monitors once you go bigger you won't be satisfied with the smaller screen anymore.

  • how do you know if your an audiophile?

  • @Alex66Vdz Look up the definition! :]

  • @Alex66Vdz Don't worry he does pro recording for his videos, and he uses pro gear, when you listen to pro headphones you will never go back. Hehe nice to see someone starting out with enjoying the studios getting into audiophile world :D

  • Wow I found Overwerk on SC a few weeks ago and downloaded there EP, then I watch this video and was like 'Yes! OMG!' :P

  • @SoftwareTutorial NICE! :D

  • 3:40 xD

  • @BoomBoyFilms Best second of the video. lol

  • your videos are unique.

  • @valonw Thank you!

  • Great review! Don't forget, made in USA.

  • @vatchvult Thanks. You know it!

  • please review the sony MDR-V6 (MDR-7506 is the same headphone just different model name) or MDR-ZX700 which is basically the successor to the V6. Another worthy consideration is the Shure SRH440. They're all pretty popular headphone among audiophiles

  • @AlohaBiatch I'll check them out! I've heard a lot about the Shure headphones.

  • Hey man great review! Was thinking about getting these but would the open design not be a good idea since I would mainly be on my laptop in my university's library? Is the leakage enough to where I would be bothering the other people in there? Should I stick to something closed like someone mentioned the Audio Technica ATH-m50's? What do you think? I don't want to disturb anyone haha

  • @Shatonmedeek The ATH-M50's are a great choice for that kind of use. In a really quiet place like a library, no open-back headphone will be quiet enough not to disturb the people around you.

Very few closed-back headphones sound good when compared to open-back headphones, but these sound great, and they don't leak much sound.

  • @Shatonmedeek Yeah open back is better for alone use or studio/home usage. You might reeeally love the ATHM50s if your budget allows for them!

  • Have you tried Urban Ears? I think you should give 'em a try and review them. They're only like $70

  • @Bryant721 I haven't. I'll definitely check them out!

  • AWESOME SONG! Thanks for putting the name

  • @nirvana922 No problem. Glad you liked it!

  • Are these heaphones better than the Audio Technica ATH-M50's????

  • @jakemangarules I'd say no, but both pairs are amazing for the price.

  • Do you Mean Overwerk - "Buzzin"?

    Instead of "Buzzon"xD

  • @DJXyro Yep I added an annotation!

  • How does they sound in comparison to AKG 142 HD? I would like to buy alessandro MS1, which are considered very similar to sr 80, but there's only one grado dealer in my country and it's very far from home so I can't try them

  • @crisbatan I've listened to to the AKGs. The SR80i's definitely sound better but the AKGs may be a tiny bit more comfortable.

  • @marquesbrownlee and what about amp, does grado need one? P.s.: thanks for the reply!

  • make a review on beats by dre

  • @FootLooseSocietyJerk he already did

  • @FootLooseSocietyJerk I've reviewed the Beats Studio and the Beats Solo HD so far,

  • Are they better than the Audio Technica ATH-M50? @marquesbrownlee

  • @andyisbtt I'd say not, but for the prices these are both incredible deals.

  • The high-end SR325 model has been absolutely fantastic for my home studio work (clean, completely neutral sound with razor-sharp details), not to forget listening to all kinds of music from metal to acoustic to classic to jazz to disco. The only downside is this: at least these Grados are actually *too* good for most portable devices and e.g. computers' audio outputs. They reveal everything in music, including also all the problems with your audio system. A good D/A converter is recommended.

  • @thietavu Awesome! Yeah I love the price to performance ratio with these guys. I'm using my Fiio E9 and they sound incredible.

  • I absolutely love these headphones! I just wish they weren't on ear...

  • @pogoboy123 Yeah some people prefer the seal of over-ear stuff.

  • sr60i>sr80i

  • @ashneel99 I don't know about that...
