  • what's the one with the dinos I don't know much about that one

  • That Zelda game looks so beast!!! Jk

  • Note that the Playstation is half the power of the N64. Both have their strengths and weaknesses, both have great games.

  • @Blurillaz Note that this is not true. The N64 had a 64 bit architecture while the PS2 had a 32 bit architecture, which only means that the N64 had more processing power available from the CPU and GPU at any given time. But due to the small ROM of the cartridge format, developers could fit in much less textures than on a CD (albeit they were smoother thanks to said 64 bit architecture!) and much less audio, which is why N64 games tend to look blurrier and more stretched out.

  • @Jubjubbles 64 bit doesn't mean it's faster, although it's faster performing 64 bit operations. The N64 is older, so it's likely that the PSX is a little faster. Higher clock speed probably.

  • I WOULD CUT OFF MY TESTICLES AND SUCK THE FART OUT OF BARBARA STREISAND'S ASS FOR A FULL BETA CARTRIDGE COPY OF THAT SUPER MARIO 64 THERE PLAYING.

  • @adruen19

This must be Wave Race beta!

  • @django2005 Hyro Thunder :)

  • anyone know the game at 0:52?

  • @adruen19 Hydro thunder

  • :O So much OMG!

Original design Link, and is that a GIANT ROBOT SCORPION IN BLAST CORPS.??!!

  • Unseen 64 is the best beta finding site out there :3

  • 1995

  • @geckorjdm IS 1996

  • Ah, finally. For 15 years I've been wanting to see actual footage of the early version of Wave Race when it was futuristic transforming boats, before they switched to plain old jet skis. It ended up being a great game, but I still wish they kept those boats.

  • I remember getting an N64 partially because of Buggie Boogie and Wave Race 64. Wave Race was a disappointment because I thought it was going to have those cool looking boats in it but instead it was a jet ski game and after playing Wave Runner in the arcades Wave Race was boring compared to that.

  • ouah la vache, affreu link en 3D premiere version !

    XD

mon dieux heureusement que ce n'etait que les premiers shootings de la console, paskelle en a bien plus dans le ventre quand on voi conker bad fur day :o

  • dude wat was that 3-d kirby game? that sure as hell aint crystal shards!

  • Why do they always give the shortest previews for Zelda!

  • Where can you get the Beta version of the games?

& whitch Kirby game was that?! 0:40

  • You can't simply just BUY beta games.

A beta version of a game is its incomplete state of the game. They don't release games until they are 100% complete.

However, some betas ARE released in stores, just rarely these days.

  • silicon graphics, de reality!

  • Did anyone else notice the Magic koopa in Mario Kart 64? If not, pause it as soon as the Mario kart section appears.(he is to the left of Mario.)

  • I've never seen that beta footage at 2:09 before. I wonder if they already had the multiple paths in the first level, probably not, but I've seen an entire beta run of corneria where you fight the other boss of the first level. this footage looks so early it was probably a rough recreation of the SNES version

  • boogie boogie was an unreleased game

  • lol epic times, i still love Nintendo <333

  • GoldenEye looks so weird then. I know it was beta; but that was a week or 3 after the movie came out too.

  • penguin

  • The robots in the beta Blast Corps look fukken awesome!! They should have kept those in the game.

  • i remember that waverace clip

  • Nintendo 64 is my favourite console. The PSX might hav sold more but in retrospective its graphics look like shit and many psx games are unplayable nowdays cuz of the MASSIVE PIXELS and tearing, and yes i also have a PSX and it also has very good games. But the N64 stood better the test of time IMO

  • The problems with those Playstation games, ignoring the load times treatement, everything is so ugly, and the discs can look like shit if you play the games for too long. Though the real problem with the scratching is, guess which games are most likely to get scratched? Your favorites...

  • non of my games are scrached couse im extremely carefull

  • They scratch when you play it though. That can be fixed though, which is a very good thing.

(well, not when you shatter it, but that's beyond the point)

  • I luv wavue raceur alot :D

  • they showd a little bit of beta zelda

  • ...I miss the good times when we would all play multiplayer mario party and such, now everyone online just wants to play ssb. :(

  • James Bond has a different shot animation in that beta GoldenEye intro.

  • It lookeed better too.

  • actually you're all wrong. N64 did have the higher poly count, both raw and with all effects on. unfortunately there were other facts that serverly hampered the N64...

  • N64=best console ever

  • true true

  • Good old N64, good times.

  • cool Mario 64 alpha vid lol wish l could play it

  • Playstation had a customized geometry chip for superior polygon power. The results were in potential game developers such as Konami, Capcom, Sony, Square, and many others. At the same time I wouldn't diss Nintendo and its N64 -- there was some great games. Hell, some game redefined the genre of 3-D like Mario 64! But technically Sony had the polygon power.

  • I have had a ps1 since 97, still love it, recently got an n64 with Mario, banjo 1&2, Goldeneye, Perfect dark, turok 2, conker in a car boot sale for 20! otherwise I wouldnt have got one! its pretty awesome. As for Sony - they made up alot of PR, the ps1 utilising everything it could do maxed out at 120,000-150,000 polygons per sec at 320x240i, whereas on custom programs for n64 such as those by rare, factor 5, iguana pushed over 300,000 in 640x480i.

  • Sony's PR put a spin on one of SGI's comments - they stated that the n64 could generate 100,000 poly/sec with 'full effects' ontop of 'highly complex weather mapping simulation routines that no other system could even contemplate.' Sony counteracted and put out this meant n64 could only do 100,000! giving ps1 a 20,000 overhead very clever! why would SGI design their r4300i (n64)processor to be less powerful than an earlier r3000 (ps1)?

  • As for the customized geometry chip this meant that it could create 'semi 3d', thats why theres so many great racing games and fighting, though what about other genres? as I said I love my ps1, but how many games had large open levels with high detail (at the time), v little pop up, I think you'll find none!, the closest was croc and it came no where near a 1st gen mario 64! let alone 3rd gen banjo tooie!

  • the ps1 has better a polygon count than the n64? dont make me laugh have you seen ps1 games recently

  • Yah but who cares about polygons

    graphics arent everything

  • Who cares about polygon graphics? Without the technology Mario 64 wouldn't have been possible. Without Mario 64 it would be a question as to wether the gaming industry would still be around today without the innovative technology.

  • hounestly mario 64 is a ok game the controls where awesome but i dont see why it was such a over hiped game dont get me wrong it was good but banjo was 100 times beter

  • the 64 was very powerful though in the day

  • please ERASE yourself fucktard.

  • "wii video" lol wut?

  • I don't get the language...

  • It French.

  • it is supposed to be Japense; but i guess it was the french tape

  • Lol, Pilotwings 64. Best Game Evar.

  • Totally, Aeox. Pilotwings FTW!

    But wow...go beta Link, lol!

  • link with brown hair O_o

  • its nes link

  • Link looks like the Link in that old show... :P

  • Nintendo Soixante-Quatre!

  • I'm glad they waited to release Kirby Air Ride on the GCN instead of the N64. It looked like crap in this.

  • was that supposed to be link fighting dark link in a zelda game at 1:58?

  • you can tell the guy talks about realistic graphics. lol

  • I dont remember that on kirby lol

  • Anyone who thinks the PSX was superior hardware and produced better graphics is stoned out!

  • Actually Mac -- YOU'RE STONED!

  • How'd you know?

  • anybodi know how 2 translate French?

  • Let's hope SOny and maybe M$ get burned this gen. I'm not paying that much for a console. Even 250 USD is too much.

  • Was that Kirby at 00:40

  • opposing contrary belief, the N64 had about 3 times more power than the PSX.

  • whao what 3d zelda could have looked like...

  • none of those vehicles in blastdozer made it to the original

    shame as they looked good

  • I will have to wait to go in the Heaven and play it

on the BETA game including all video games including

Mario, Sonic, Legend of Zelda, and other great franchise series will be available in the Heaven. Because God knows them all! Praise the Lord!

  • amagad french ad! o.o

  • PSone hardware > N64 hardware

    PSone software < N64 software

  • o-O

The N64's hardware was vastly superior to that of the Playstation.

  • yes, but what i meant was, psx was more efficient; the n64 had texture memory problems, latency problems, and the well known storage size dilemma..

the cartridge was for two reasons: the genesis cd addons were failing, so yamauchi thought cd was fad or whatever..

also, yamauchi wanted $ via cartridge royalties. this pissed off devs..

  • And the PS1 had massive clipping, pixellation, and polygon tearing, meaning it had problems the N64 didn't have.

  • the PSX and n64 each had their problems.

however, the PS's advantages were much better than n64's:

    - easier to dev than n64 or saturn

    - dirt cheap CDs

    -CDs had 700MB vs. cart's 32 or 64MB

    - while n64 was 'more powerful' it was much harder to reach that level, than to reach PS's maximum level.

Plus, n64 tended to be cartoony [because of texture problems] vs. PSX tended to be realistic.

BUt i dont hate Nintendo, i think PS3 is awful.

  • I know they both have problems. But as for the graphics, overall the N64's graphics are more on the realistic side. You don't see pixels and jagged edges in real life, do you?

  • N64, as far as I know, had jaggies as well [duh!]. But as far I know, pixelation is more realistic than the "smearing" of the textures in n64 games. Look at the NDS, it has PSX graphics, not n64 graphics [since the textures are all pixelated, as opposed to smeared]. LOok at Brothers in Arms in NDS. Also look at GT for PSX. Realistic, no?

PS: I think this is the first time I've had a long-drawn conversation that didn't break down to fanboyism and trollings. THanks!

  • Yes but not as much jagged edges, making the graphics overall more realistic than the PS1. That's not to say the PS1's graphics were terrible; Gran Turismo looks fantastic for a PS1 game.

  • i guess i agree. i'm not a dev nor a techie, i'm just talking from what i've seen in the past, and it may or may not be accurate. In any case, PS1 vs. n64 proves that what matters is not peak theoretical performance, but real world performance; not only that, it must be easy to dev, and so on. It's a shame that Dreamcast failed like that, when in reality PS2 hardware was a bitch to dev, and was truly weak next to GCN. Although, to my knowledge, PS2 was still more powerful than DC.

  • The last N64 games had better textures. If only they fixed that a little before...

  • look at link he looks like the snes version its great ^^

  • lol alot of kids nowadays think playing old skool games are boringm I disagree, they have no respect in gaming

  • PPutin, Quelle PD... LOL look at the penguin in mario.

  • welcome back retard

  • lol @ low poly link VS. today's high poly link.

  • wow i wonder why the blast corps beta never was released... man i want that scorpion!

  • 10 years ago these graphics were impossible. Star fox's grafx look about 90% done and mario 64 looked just about done too, but the legend of zelda was indeed in VERY early stages. I think I can see some Z targeting against the monster but link is a bunch of colored polygons. No wonder we had to wait so long for ocarina of time, but unlike the wait with Twilight princess, mind you, it was WELL WORTH IT.

  • I went to Shoshinkai that year. The significance of it has since been lost, but at the time the Ultra64's software was a big step up.

I spent a long time on the 4 level playable Mario64 demo working out its control mechanism. It was the first game to use a control system linked to the camera. I typed it up the same day, hooked my laptop up to a payphone and e-mailed my notes back to my colleagues at EA UK.

  • look at ugly beta zelda xD

  • I hate these youn children (younger and stupid) now a days no respect for the old stuff that lead to better things they have today!

  • DAMN LINK IS UGLY IN THERE! ._.

  • But not as ugly as how he looked in the CD-I games!

  • whats the kirby game called???

  • It-s Air Ride but it was released for GameCube because the N64 was too limited.

  • Beta Wave Race looks just like Hydro Thunder.

  • All I can add is that Body harvest was a horrible game.

  • i still think the graphics are good, i know alot of noob kids these days look at what games looked like 10 years ago and say/think "wow, graphics were rubbish back then" no appreciation whatsoever! they dont understand how games have developed over the years, good graphics didnt just pop out of nowhere- they had to build on them

  • Just think. 10 years ago those were the best graphics money could buy on a home console.

  • Man, Betas are shity but better!

  • I like the music. I wonder where I can download it from...

  • Ahh... I remember seeing/reading about these images when I was a freshman in high school... memories. Some of those games looked quite different when they finally did get released. Yes WaveRace, but also Body Harvest looked very primitive here (not that the final version looked great or anything). I remember reading about that one cancelled game in here... Buggie Boogie? I think that was the name. Looks like crap compared to pictures 10 yrs. ago.

  • This beta video isn't even exclusive to whatever site or show it was grabbed from. This exact same footage was shown on the UK show Gamesmaster, with better music and fantastic narration from Dominik Diamond.

  • Shoshinkai is what Nintendo's Space World is now. The reason it was better on Gamesmaster was because it was in your language.

  • Oh, my! They changed Wave Race in time... It would have been crap if they had released it.

  • oh, man, I would so really love if a beta of wave race when it still was a boat racin game popped up somewhere...

Fuck Nintendo, Sega and all companies (but specially Nintendo because they have the stuff I like the most) for showing that to us and then hide it in their secret lair and fuck the hell out of us.

    They are so mean...

  • GREAT!!! Thank you monokoma!!!

  • the zelda bit was a developer demo to show particles and reflection effects

  • monokoma you are soooo sad you just toke the movies from Z64 Station and Adonf-Jv and not even give any credid to those sites.

  • sorry! is this video from there? like i said in another message, i collected beta videos for years and friends have given to me some of them, so i dont remember where i found most of this stuff! :( if you will give me these links i'll add them on the description

  • What was that little zelda bit about...

  • AWESOME i only remember seeing this stuff as pics in magazines years ago
