Sorry , I don't agree. Sarah was better in the concert with Placido Domingo! Her voice sounds much more natural and clear. I agree with Brightmanphan that this wasn't a good night for Sarah. Still, she sings beautifuly La Luna.
Things are not as simple as you might think. See the TTSG clip with Domingo that must be the one I made and shared somewhere before as well as another duet. TTSG was the final song of the concert. Her hair is dried and the voice is a little gargled. Looks like she runs a mild fever. Every time I see that video I feel sorry for her. Still she did it great!
Someone told me Sarah was sixk for this concert; I think I believe them. Sarah doesn't sound like her self on this think. It sounds kind of labored and her placement sounds off the whole time except for the last high note which is of course wonderful. I adore Sarah so much but I don't think this was a good nigh for her.
I think this La Luna is the best of the Otobutai concert, so I posted it.
Sarah was in a lot better condition than that of the 2000 concert with Domingo. I saw both concerts live and I've seen the videos tons of times. I guess at the 2000 concert Sarah was in poor health which I never noticed during the concert.
I also love the way this aria was modified from the original. Sarah's italian version is much more fluid and the instrumental arrangements that made the famous Paul Bateman for this piece are just incredible.
As I think you are aware, the person who is conducting beside Sarah is Paul Bateman. And the light that is shown on the right upper side of the temple is the real moon.
i dunno, i luv sarah, but when it comes to sarah singing classics, it's just not that natural. especially when she's doing all those oo-ing for the high notes.
I love the way Sarah sings Rusalka's La Luna. She is indeed the best singing it! Soft but at the same time with a sweet powerful voice. You are the best Sarah!!
Great Sarah! whether your voice was not at its best you still sound excellent! Te amo Sarah por siempre aunque tengas faringitis!!!

Indeed, this is her version for the "Rusalka" Opera by Dvorak, and the song is "Song of the moon" :)
