As far as I know it is only possible to simulate infantry warfare in AA when in Arma 2 company sized mp events consists of dedicated groups for different purposes: Supply, mortar units, artillery unit, fighter pilots, helicopter pilots, medevac personnel, and last but not least armored units (My speciality).
I don't say that AA is worse than Arma 2. I am just saying that it is not comprehensive enough to simulate full spectrum of modern warfare.

There are often many cases in game however where the player is not in a first-person-shooting situation, and contains many times more variety than an FPS. The correct genre designation is Milsim.

Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising is game published by codemasters. Original Operation Flashpoint was made by Bohemia Interactive, same company who made Armed Assault ("Arma") and Arma 2. Bohemia Interactive didn't had anything to do with Dragon Rising, and that is why that game just... Sucks. It is arcade and doesn't have any kind of simulation aspect. It is just another stereotypic FPS (Just like your COD and MOH and everything else. Grey mass without anything special).

@Gekkibi Well, you'd have to define "board game" first.
First Person Shooter is a definition by itself in my opinion - a game where you shoot from the 1st person view (as in, your weapon poking your screen). Be it unrealistic sh*t like CoD, Quake, UT or more realistic sh*t like BFBC2, Sniper, OF or ArmA.
Then you might add "simulation" or something. I saw it that way.

@SubzeroedMind It is a miltary simulator, not an FPS. As a simulation of infantry etc, the view is required to be in the first person to be realistic. There are often many cases in game however where the player is not in a first-person-shooting situation, and contains many times more variety than an FPS. The correct genre designation is Milsim.

That aside, you can't deny this game is a FPS. FPS just means you're playing in first person view, arcade gameplay (or anything else) doesn't connotate that genre.
I don't mean to put it next to CSS, COD or BF, but I'm just saying. If you think it's not FPS, it's okay man.
In a broader sense, I think FPS can be applied.

@SubzeroedMind I'm not talking about third person. Much time is spent using 'heads down' equipment and the game doesn't revolve solely around combat, unlike FPSs. It includes FPS elements, no doubt, but it is too far removed from those other games to be grouped with them. The danger is that it gives people the idea that it may be similar, or comparable.

In ArmA2, you have to focus on primary target, killing enemy means nothing in this game, you dont get points for that. You get points for doing objectives. Not like in COD, when you kill enemy, screen is spammed with +50!!! +100 for HS!!! +200 for Avenge!!! +1000 random points, meh!!!

@Baseballmagee CoD sucks, it doesnt hav e any fun, I have tried both MW2 and BO, they are for kids who tihnk that is how real war is. I play Battlefield games myself, mostly BFBC2 now, preordered BF3.
There is no fun games and realistic games which are not fun. It depends on community, some people like arcade fun, like CoD, some people like realistic simulator fun like ArmA.
Most choose COD because it is easy game. It takes much skill to play ArmA.

Compare both game communities, CoD is full of kids, only few decent mature people play it just for time killing.
ArmA2 plays only mature people +18. Lately, ArmA2 has become popular, there ar emany servers now and I never heard squicking kid voice there.
If you like CoD, go and play, no one restricts you, just dont play ArmA2, we dont need kids there.

Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising is game published by codemasters. Original Operation Flashpoint was made by Bohemia Interactive, same company who made Armed Assault ("Arma") and Arma 2. Bohemia Interactive didn't had anything to do with Dragon Rising, and that is why that game just... Sucks. It is arcade and doesn't have any kind of simulation aspect. It is just another stereotypic FPS (Just like your COD and MOH and everything else. Grey mass without anything special).

Compared to Battlefield 2 it's close but i would still always take ArmA.

@TwoRandomGamers It's not suppose to look good, i'v been playing ArmA for about 3 years and NEVER came across somebody under the age of 17 online.. and for me that's a must buy, but the reason you don't get 8 year olds is because they barely show their trailers off their Website.. until now :( still the computer specs you need for ArmA are extreamly high which again lowers the little kiddies playing and in the end all your left with playing are mature nice people who want to play as a team.

I am kinda getting tired of all these war games, I really wish that it would of stopped or slowed down when Modern Warfare ONE got released because that's when it plateaued.
You can see it everywhere now in all forms of media it just seems that no one can come up with an idea anymore, I hate to say it sounding like a hipster but it's devastatingly true.
