Why do you use VLC? It`s not best player for low-perfomance system,try Mplayer Classic Home Theater and may be NC10 will show better result (especially if you set optimized options) .

selbst schuld,wer vista auf nem netbook installiert sit es quasi selbst schuld. auf dem nc10 laufen serious sam und cod4 genauso wie aoe3 oder sonst was.

kostet auch nur 200€ weniger als das n510

Das ist nicht Vista, sondern Windows 7, welches wesentlich performanter arbeitet als Vista.

VLC has no GPU video decoding support so your test is limited to CPU only.

You need to to use DXVA enabled player under Windows to offload the video to GPU like MPC-HC or Arcsoft Total Theatre.
