  • 1:20 what does firmament mean? It is not translated. Oh wait .. it IS also English but we would not use that word in that context. See here:

    fir·ma·ment/ˈfərməmənt/

Noun: The heavens or the sky, esp. when regarded as a tangible thing. A sphere or world viewed as a collection of people.

So we would instead say "do you see all the glory of the world and sky" or "do you see all the glory of nature" probably.

  • ...What do the people of the US have against Canada? I'll never understand.

  • @JuanDVene I love Canada :P

  • Ok I'll try to help you but my english is &?"$?%!D8

    0:13 : why speak so?

and what have you more than me for know everything?

0:38 : become the master; simply puting a foot on land?

    you are right to all?

the sun-drenched fruits; wind>wrap; not THIS life

    brothers TOO

    big thing>greater whole

    3:00 : know>catch hold of

  • This gave me shivers! The lyrics are really amazing, especially in the end, and her voice is nice, too :) Merci pour m'aider en révisent mon Francais pour mon bac (Sorry for that, anyway, thanks for helping me with brushing up my French for my graduating) :D

  • I think this version is better than EU French, Laura Myne's voice is... boring1 i love Canadian :) <3

  • moi aussi juste français elle est meuilleure

  • This version is much better than the European french one, I love the bit about the tree and the eagles- better than the english lyrics there,

  • Je préfère cette version à la française :)

  • In french, "air" means lots of things, for exeample

    > a feeling of deja vu, un air de déja vu

    > a melody ( musical ), un air de musique

For the canadian version, I think the european french is better, much much deeper in the lyrics

  • I think this song is better in european french than in canadian, for Pocahontas'voice and for lyrics

  • well actually the french european version "L'air du vent" means more or less "song of the wind"

  • the translation sucks so much, half of the things that he wrote dont have the right meaning......

    j'ai pas raison?

  • @DaveFrEnJp Do you mean how I translated it into English, or how they translated the original into French? I wasn't able to translate all of the lines literally, because some of them wouldn't fit on the screen and/or they didn't flow well at all. :)

  • @kikyo4815 It's how you translated in english, its pretty good, but there's some places where you could have used a better word or sentence for the meaning! But it still good :P

  • @DaveFrEnJp I see what you're saying. I agree, some words could have perhaps been translated better. I get better at it with each translation I do. :) Thanks for commenting!

  • ''As-tu entendu le loup hurler en mal d'amour ?'' such a powerful lyrics..I don't know if it's just the way this part is animated (the way she turns while singing it) but this part gives me goosebumps everytime !!!!!

  • wow this is way more powerful in translation then the European french version

  • I understand this more then European French.

I thought they would find our french annoying. But apparently it's very quaint, and very cute to them. It's an old version of French.

    J'adore cette chanson :D

  • It's not "do you think you know everything" it's "what have you got more than me to know everything". But great translation! I love her voice, I prefer this version to the european version (even if the european version is my childhood version!). I love when she says "A tu entendu le loup hurler en mal d'amour" and "Et qu'il faudra bientôt apprendre à vivre ensemble".

  • T'es anglaise et tu traduit tout sa? Wow great job! (i'm french ;) )

  • still gives me goosebumps after all this time... and after listening to it 10000000 times

  • oh i get it, thanks for explaining

  • i preferred english version

  • wait with the name, l'air du vent

doesnt that mean the air of wind . . . but that doesnt seem right . . .

  • The European version is called "L'air du vent." That would literally mean "the air of the wind." But I think of it as a pun. "Air" in French also means looks or behavior or feeling. :)

  • @kikyo4815 "Air" in french means "song" too

  • @denkleinhavfrue air=song...depuis quand?!

  • @kikyo4815 or "tune"...

  • @SecretsofDisneyland in the European version it's "peux-tu peindre en mille couleurs l'air du vent" which would be in English "can you paint the looks / the appearance of the wind with 1000 colours".. sounds still pretty stupid in English, but it's quite poetic in French

  • C'est belle, c'est tres belle . . .

  • j'aime cette version et la version française autant.

    j'espère avoir dit ça correctement

  • I love this version! The language and the voice is amazing. Quelle voix! :D Did I write that correct? I'm from Norway ;)

  • Perfectly. :D

  • who sings this?

  • Stéphanie Martin

  • Beautiful... simply beautiful :)

  • I agree. It's my favourite version. :D

  • It certainly is one of my faves too! I love the Spanish versions as well, and the German (and the English, of course) :D

  • I also like this version :-)

I like the lyrics in this version, but I would translate some things differently. Everybody has his own taste.
