  • @MrTrolWut it wasn't recognizing javac even after installing but i fixed it now. it turns out in the system variables section there was already one called path that was something to do with quicktime. so i deleted it.

  • @Makeme0210 mac comes with JDK preinstalled so you do not need to download anything!!! just go a head and start programming!

  • @al0ne0 Pretty much the same deal with Linux mint 12, wasn't pre-installed but installing it just took a couple of mouse clicks :)

  • guyz there is another way rather shortcut to avoid setpath

    go to cmd see the default address as in here it is C:\Users\Greg while installing jdk it will ask you the folder location set this location in there...

    you will never have to setpath again....

    many people say that it slows down pc but believe me it is not true...

  • @Bradstuffer Probably downloaded the wrong one make sure you got the JDK and got the right one you are probably using a Windows (x86) computer so try that download

  • @ScriptBuilder1000 On the main website, to the right should be a box with some links. There should be one that says Java SE. Just click on that and follow on to get the right one

  • The Java oracle website has been updated, can somebody please, PLEASE tell me which one to download, I have been trying for the past week or two to find the right one... I have a Windows 7 64 bit with 32 bit Java.

  • i have done this exactly how you said. i copied the code into the enviroment variables. nut when i type javac in the command prompt it wont work :( i tried it several times. im vista service pack2= 2. anyone know what the problem is?

  • The website is different, there is no JDK at the top... I downloaded and installed java_ee_sdk-6u3-jdk7-windowsx6­4 and my eclipse doesn't work.

    Open up cmd and type set Path="(Were the JDK is located)"

  • @winfest2010 The problem is that actually u have to write "PATH" instead of "Path", that should fix the error message when u type "javac" in our console
