How would you mic a Wurlitzer 4500 organ- 8 speakers internal- 2-12'' facing forward L & R, 2 6x9''s facing slightly outward and on either side of the 12s, 1 horn above the left 12 , 1- 5'' below (or above?) the right 12", and finally two 4'' speakers on the Spectra-tone which spin vertically and project above and on the left of the organ. Here is a recorded 4500 example ( on youtube)-
Wurlitzer Organ 4500 4502 4300 John La Duca Side 1
Curious where to begin with this incredible organ-Paul
@paulj0557 I know you didn't ask me, but the way I would do it would be this. I would put a pair of MD421's on the 12's and Royer SF-24 set no more then 4 feet back.
@InstantReverbPro Thanks for the input. Hope you had a chance to listened to
John La Duca 4500/4502/4300
This guy was an incredible musician! And the organ was/is one of the most up front, broad sounding musical instruments ever. Digital has trouble sounding half as good.
this is what i want to do for a living is to produce bands capture music. but all i can think is how the hell am i going to learn to use a sound console like that.
@luGrezia funny i was considering that school and or it affiliates i even got a packet and everything. but i dont want to move to Florida. what classes would i have to take to transfer to Full sail or a recording arts school like it?
I went to Skywalker for a company demo. That score room sounds so amazing it's like slipping into a warm bath.. audibly. :D
And the control room.. WOW, you will never hear audio as clear as that in all your life. Those big black speakers in front of the board are B&W's. They cost about 20grand each. There's five of them. Do the math. :o
And then people put this onto an MP3!
