i actually liked this movie too. Didn't expect much when I at down, but alfie's character offers some good insight. The statue metaphor sums it up best....beautiful from the outside, but right up close its cracked and damaged. Not all people wasting their life or hurting others are decrepit drug addicts and criminals. We can all lead better lives in some way.

haha its seriously impossible to put it up.i put it up without naming the video to avoid copyright detection, then i put up an empty video to link to it,but still youtube found it & disabled the sound lol how annoying.
You probably refer to the version Mick Jagger & Dave Stewart recorded with Sheryl Crow. It's available on the Virgin Records US release of the soundtrack. It's also available at iTunes! I love that version!
profsvensen: I love the original but the "chick" (as you so eloquently put it) sings it with a voice pure from the heart. Its a song about the frustration of life and she sings it full of empathy with people that feel that frustration. How do I know this? Because I can feel it myself. Inside. You know?
She does have a name just like Dave Stewart does. Hers is Amy Keys.
You know, you can come back and rubbish me and my views but I say that I, for one, enjoyed her performance. All the best.
LogicHead: 1st "-"chick" was uncalled for, but you read too much into it. she is off key, clashes with the lead vocals and is the antithesis of what the song is supposed to embody. Look and listen to the original video. I have nothing against Ms. Keys, she does not suit the song or the song does not suit her. Finally, arguing about music is in the same category as religion and/or politics-you can't and you don't!!
Without arguing about the music, using the word chick belittled her as a performer if not as a fellow human being. That was my key objection to your original message.
How was my quoting your language uncalled for? It was to put my message into context. My approach was straight to the point so as to respect everyone's time - including yours.
I'll be the first to admit that my point is on the esoteric side. Its foundation is in the value we have as people. Something I consider important.
LogicHead: 1st "-"chick" was uncalled for, but you read too much into it.
--
What I have just cut and pasted is significantly more ambiguous than "my use of the word chick was uncalled for" which is the very last thing you have written.
In the latter you have clearly taken ownership of the word chick.
For those that say I am hair-splitting, you are within your rights to believe that but stay open. We are all equals. Different but equals.
Hmmm... okay scottiewinkles. If I'm wasting your time, why reply?
In my books, calling one person by their name and dismissing another with a word like "chick" (whatever you might think of the performance) is unwarranted. What purpose does it serve?
My invitation is for you to have a think about that. What you do is totally your business. I couldn't give a stuff one way or the other.
I think the guy was making a joke to be fair (I laughed anyway).
I personally think you sound very pompous in your writing and would find your time probably better spent politically correcting early Famous Five novels from the 40s. Calling a female a 'chick' isn't an insult unless you're one of these deluded people who think that women are man's equal ( yes I'm joking, women are awesome) - lighten up, for god's sake,,,,and get a job
Fair call. I was harsh, over-zealous and pompous in the way I spoke to scottiewinkles. I have apologised.
Can I say, I have called people 'chick' or 'bud' or 'dude' in my life. I'm no stuffed shirt sort of person. The way it was said above though, "Dave is great; chick has to go" doesn't fly with me though. That *is* demeaning. I'm happy doing what I do so I won't make a career out of this but I saw that and was driven to say something.
As an aside, I appreciate the character you showed in saying "hey, take it easy". Let me assure you though that I love working. I find it physically, emotionally, mentally, spiritually and financially rewarding. Sure, I am educated and it might show more than most in the way I say things but it is in the pursuit of what I see as good stuff in life. Like everyone, I am a work in progress but I hope it hasn't over-shadowed what my main message has been here.
caffrey75 mentioned that I was pompous in my reply. I re-read it and there is some truth to that. My final sentence especially was out of line. I'm not in the business of shitting on people so I apologise.
My point about calling one person by their first name and immediately following it up by saying something like 'chick', 'dude' etc is something I stand by. I think it is important so I posted my objection to profsvensen. To be clear, it was to say that we're all human.
Dave Stewart was great as a writer & performer with Annie Lennox in the Eurythmics, with Mick on this song by him with Dave, & with great solo work! I'd kill to see the Eurhythmics again & to get another Dave Stewart solo project.
where can i find the guitar tab? XD :D

Nice song, the movie was good as well. What I liked the most about it was the moral at the ending.

@benisunci there was a moral? I think I missed that?
or are you talking about like... "don't be a manslut"?

@Lemonycrab Oh sorry. You have to be clever to understand it. My bad. You're right. For you, there's no moral. Peace !
