Classic... what memories -- returning home from Highbury on a Saturday, settling in for a night of good telly; Metal Mickey, Mind Your Language, Doctor Who... and maybe stay up to watch '10 Rillington Place'.
I remember this years ago, didn't Mickey call one of the girls String Nean? I wonder if I saw this show again if I would still enjoy it as much or would it seem lame instead.
@iainsbruv I don't blame you; I wouldn't turn her down myself (and I'm a chick), she's sooo pretty! I expect you've seen the episode of Butterflies in which she plays one of Adam's girlfriends?
God, when are the next 2 Metal Mickey series going to be released on DVD? I'm impatient, I want to spend my Amazon vouchers (Xmas and birthday presents) on them.
In the 80s there wasnt much entertainment for kids they only had 3 t.v. channels and i remember when they put this on saturday afternoons the other 2 channels had sport and the news on.
Rubbish. I grew up back then and there was always something to watch. Great cartoons and US shows. Or we had our personal computers. Or we went to a friend's house, or even outside to play. We were never bored.
I donno i grew up in the 80s primarily and yeh it was a laugh but it was weird at the same time kids t.v. shows back then were strange. Where did you grow up ? i grew up in yorkshire england and yeh like you say there were plenty of things to do like going out and playing and stuff kids dont seem to do that these days you know. As for computers we didnt really have them i remember we had some kind of games console that was a bad copy of a atari you could only get 4 games for it lol.
Didn't mean to be so harsh. But I remember there being lots of entertainment (some of the TV looks a bit crap these days, I agree). I lived in Warwickshire and I had a ZX Spectrum from 1983 till the early 1990s. We had one of those Binatone Interstate b/w consoles with the phone cord controllers before that :) And what about all those action figures! Good times, mostly.
This was a great programme! But apart from Irene Handl who was famous anyway I don't remember seeing any of these on anything afterwards, it seems Mickey killed their careers!
Metal Mickey was one of the greatest, most remarkable shows ever to be broadcast on TV and efforts now should be made on finding the orginal robot, re establishing it, restoring it, rededicating it. and puting it back into operation in 'the war on crapy TV' The original audio and video should be fully restored to the highest standard humanly and technologicaly possible to have a hi-definition, hi-fidelity digital stereo Metal Mickey so we can all relive and enjoy this extraordinary character!

Always a bit sceptical about Metal Mickey, he got a bit tired, so he took 'Atomic Thunderbusters' and then boogie boogie.
We used to do similiar at raves in 1989, and the 'Thunderbusters' costs £10 a pop

Yes it was, just after World of Sport and the ITN News , a typical programme after would have been Game for a Laugh , or Punchlines etc

This would have been early 80's , probably 1980 - 82 , probably recorded at London Weekend's South Bank studio. Nice opening titles ,
