seriously its just a reflex to do so bcause you could be needing to control your troops for defending right now and there goes the extra time you normally plan for this defense : moving meaninglessly all the time

APM is very important in almost all computer games.

you can do an easy test (if you have played the game some and knows what to build, build order etc etc)

game1, sit back relaxed and play slow, only do things you have to do, and then you try to micro your troops a bit in an easy battle, like 10vs10 zealots. pause the game when the battle is over and make a small survey of how it went.

game 2 APM up early and do the same.

im not a high player of stacraft 2 but im in gold league. my APM is 60 but i tried some games of 120+ APM and its really nice.. i mean u click everywhere for nothing but it gets u in the game and thats important. Also u can c more things and u can react faster if u do something wrong.. so i think HIGH APM HELPS!!!

"noob APM=0-120

intermediate APM=121-199

pro APM=200-399

gosu APM=400-800

these are the average APMs and it has to be consistent throughout the whole game.

only one person got to 800 apm tho... JulyZerg got there, but it wasnt his average

Why did you select the marines and moved them around? There was no need to. Do people do that just to get high APM?

If you have 150 APM it means you do 2,5 action per second.. what are you doing all the time? Clicking around?

@700007123 In theory, "clicking around" is kind of warm up in the begining of the game. Later, it keeps you on high shifts k ? Wc3 TFT battle.net players do this same way all the time. You need to be quick in RTS and having high APM helps a lot. Of course it depends on action which player pick.

@700007123 You ll notice right from the start he's doing it too. Its so you are in the "routine" of it the whole game.

It would be like, "not letting yourself adopt poor technic ". or saying " practice makes perfect ", its reminding yourself of the "hotkeys" u have set, and being prepared to use them without thought when the time comes. Same with the clicking around. U want FAST clicking, & use of hotkeys while your building, scouting, or w/e to be second nature.

APM numbers are really nothing to brag about in my opinion because of this over clicking everyone does, but in the end, who ever is faster, and can micro the most at the same time is gonna win. This is good practice to be fast, and remain fast through out. Almost always you will see the higher APM player win.

It's a mineral hauler. It's something you can use from the CC. Cost 50 energy and hauls more minerals than a standard SCV.

It doesn't cost minerals, it takes 50 energy from the CC. So you can either do a scan for 50E or get extra minerals... It doesn't stay there permanently, it will expire after a certain time.
