It's a shame that the sequels ("Commander Blood" and "Big Bug Bang") didn't contain this communication system anymore. It was the most interesting element of this game, I think.
and starting to recognize the sounds of each race's word for one icon... that freaked out my buddies and my parents though, but I thought it was cool... and still do xD
It's more of a shame that Commander Blood was released unfinished. The original story for it had Commander Blood travel to the past through multiple black holes and ultimately reach the Big Bang, while the game that came out had only a single black hole, while the "big bang/big band" twist at the end was the most pathetic excuse to make a story STOP without an ENDING.
I was too young to understand it too. I'd just go around and destroy planets.
This game would be beautiful on this gen of consoles. Of course, it would never be released because it's not got and American football in it or MAster Chef from Halo.
I loved this game, but it was just crazy - never did get very far in it.
But for some reason I played it anyway, I would explore for hours just looking for new aliens to insult. The comms system was really interesting, I don't think I've seen anything so advanced since then, which is a bit of a shame IMO.
