Stay away from the 2002 and 2003 7.3 powerstrokes if you want to mod. They have powdered metal rods instead of forged rods. They're only good for 400hp without replacing the rods and even that's a little iffy.

a buddy of mine has a 6.0 an its blow turbo after turbo an then melted an injector some how, not even the guys at ford could tell what happen, as for the 7.3 we use one of those out here pullin trailers an i havent a bad thing to say about it has more power than we need lol pulled 10 tons of hay the other day only a few miles but it didnt struggle at all. both just awesome trucks idk about the new 6.7 powerstrke i heard its twin turboed. 7.3 is still known as one of the best.

But power in my ol 7.3 is far behind the SixPointUhhOhh. I got to UTI in Houston, Texas and I haven't raced everyone there but I haven't lost a race yet.. It's been a good truck for me and I think a few whinners just gave it a bad name.
The six.ohh is a beast. My 03 has only given me an egr issue which I wanted to delete anyways. The only time my truck has broke is when it should have. With the suncoast converter and tranny in it, it'll do as I want. Low 13's. My ol 7.3 is a good truck too.

@BeastLoGo only thing about 6.0s is around 100 thousand miles the egr cooler goes out and ur truck will start getting hot we live in oklahoma and just come back from california and in arizona it happend to my dads truck and we had to get a new egr cooler its a $1500 part but luckly it still under warenty, and around after that the oil cooler will got out and its about 1500 dollors to so yea but other than that 6.0s are bad ass..

Have you seen the warranty claim issues surrounding the 6.0? It's a piece of junk. So much so that Ford ended their 30 year relationship with International Harvester because IH wouldn't help Ford pay the warranty claims on an engine that IH designed and sold to Ford. The later engines with larger displacements are better, but I would be very wary of this engine until I'm absolutely certain it's as reliable as the old 7.3.
and the fact that IH sued ford for 2 billion after refusing to pay out warantee, because ford broke the contract by designing their own diesel before the contract endd.
and the new 6.4 is a powerful, reliable engine, and id rather have it then a 7.3. but the trannys are not great and the 6.4s have their lil quirks too. nothing like a 6.0 but ya.
the 6.0s were so hit and miss tho! some of em were just amazing! and some pieces of junk.

Innovative diesel makes a stock head bolt tune for the 6.0 and eliminates coolant bubbling. I have an 05+ style egr cooler and it works fine. I'll get a delete soon. What's the 7.3's fastest 1/4 mile time? 6.0 is 10.25.

Your heads are leaking. No way around it. There is no tune to stop that bubbling water. There is a egr delet kit that will stop the water from being boiled.
@rdr21chc i did it at my shop....arp studs cost about 420 on jegs....then gaskets were about 200 together....75 for manifold gasket...100 for oil cooler....reserfaced heads for 35buck each....and didnt have to pull cab so did it my self. jus need the tools....an a torch wrench so under a grand if u do it ur self

I own a 6.0 without head studs and programmed with an sct tuner the most reliable tuner and most reliable available tuners for the 6.0. 150+whp 290+wtq. I shit you not intake exhaust and tuner the only truck that stands that close to power gains is the 6.4 international. I've never had bubbling coolant issues, egr issues etc.

I know what you mean, however the 6.0 problems can be fixed very simply...you just basically need an egr valve delete kit and possibly some head studs from a aftermarket manufacturer like arp ( the ones that are in them stock are junk) the biggest problem is the egr which is some emissions BS..that work shouldn't cost more than 1200 bucks..they're great engines really..

The six.ohh is a beast. My 03 has only given me an egr issue which I wanted to delete anyways. The only time my truck has broke is when it should have. With the suncoast converter and tranny in it, it'll do as I want. Low 13's. My ol 7.3 is a good truck too.

@BeastLoGo only thing about 6.0s is around 100 thousand miles the egr cooler goes out and ur truck will start getting hot we live in oklahoma and just come back from california and in arizona it happend to my dads truck and we had to get a new egr cooler its a $1500 part but luckly it still under warenty, and around after that the oil cooler will got out and its about 1500 dollors to so yea but other than that 6.0s are bad ass..

Have you seen the warranty claim issues surrounding the 6.0? It's a piece of junk. So much so that Ford ended their 30 year relationship with International Harvester because IH wouldn't help Ford pay the warranty claims on an engine that IH designed and sold to Ford. The later engines with larger displacements are better, but I would be very wary of this engine until I'm absolutely certain it's as reliable as the old 7.3.

and the fact that IH sued ford for 2 billion after refusing to pay out warantee, because ford broke the contract by designing their own diesel before the contract endd.
and the new 6.4 is a powerful, reliable engine, and id rather have it then a 7.3. but the trannys are not great and the 6.4s have their lil quirks too. nothing like a 6.0 but ya.
the 6.0s were so hit and miss tho! some of em were just amazing! and some pieces of junk.

@fsjfanatic not to call you a liar, but youre a fucking liar. my teacher has a 24v cummins h.o. with a 6spd and an expensive ass clutch rated for 2000 hp. his truck is dyno'd at 688hp and 1409 ftlbs with the boost gage dialed back for longevity. he runs in 4x4 to get the traction and shifts 3rd, 5th and 6th and he turns low 12s. ur 12v would not do that. no fucking way unless you sank some extreme money into it.

Innovative diesel makes a stock head bolt tune for the 6.0 and eliminates coolant bubbling. I have an 05+ style egr cooler and it works fine. I'll get a delete soon. What's the 7.3's fastest 1/4 mile time? 6.0 is 10.25.

Your heads are leaking. No way around it. There is no tune to stop that bubbling water. There is a egr delet kit that will stop the water from being boiled.

@rdr21chc i did it at my shop....arp studs cost about 420 on jegs....then gaskets were about 200 together....75 for manifold gasket...100 for oil cooler....reserfaced heads for 35buck each....and didnt have to pull cab so did it my self. jus need the tools....an a torch wrench so under a grand if u do it ur self

I own a 6.0 without head studs and programmed with an sct tuner the most reliable tuner and most reliable available tuners for the 6.0. 150+whp 290+wtq. I shit you not intake exhaust and tuner the only truck that stands that close to power gains is the 6.4 international. I've never had bubbling coolant issues, egr issues etc.

im lookin at a 2005 6.0 powerstroke with 99k. however i have heard these engines are extremely unreliable. recently i have started to look at 03 and 04 6.6 duramaxs. i am honestly torn i have been a ford fan all my life but for once i am honestly not sure if this would be a good investment. i am at a loss and need desperate help.

I know what you mean, however the 6.0 problems can be fixed very simply...you just basically need an egr valve delete kit and possibly some head studs from a aftermarket manufacturer like arp ( the ones that are in them stock are junk) the biggest problem is the egr which is some emissions BS..that work shouldn't cost more than 1200 bucks..they're great engines really..
