  • those who rose to the occasion and oppose govenment were no means fool or in need to have some media attention for a fame... but this people simply cannot bear the fact that govenment is not doing enough, that the government is wrong on many policies regarding tibet and so on.. they just simple cannot ignore those facts...i think they are real heroes and true patriotic than those who are threatining to cause problem towards them....! bravo free tibet free china .....!

  • Hong Kong enjoys to be part of Britain, huh!

Do you really think white people give a damn about you?

  • Disgusting! Showing your support for a sporting event is one thing, what we see here is quite another. The vulgar obscenities & threats against those with a different opinion brought shame on China that day. These thugs demonstrate their inability understand or even listen to anything but their own profanity. Thinking people have nothing but pity & contempt such animals.

Thank you xiaoka for the video

  • thanks. personally, i can understand people's opposition, but not their near violent anger.

To live in a city that lets people with opposition views speak should be a point of pride, not anger...

  • Thanks Xiaoka, I fully agree.

Respect for different POVs is a matter of great pride in HK, hopefully what happened then isn't the shape of things to come.

I noticed you have a few videos on Hong Kong, I welcome you to watch mine if you're so inclined.

    All the best!

  • Clearly, in some people's mind, the cold war has never ended and it goes on and on. Pathetic clowns, pathetic western main stream media.

  • 中國加油!香港加油!

  • some of you may not understand what people said in the video (Cantonese), let me translate for you. They yelled:'FUCK YOU!!! YOU SON OF BITCH! JUST GET AWAY FROM THERE!' That's the true picture of HK people's reaction as to protesters' behaviours. We don't like what they've done on that day as most of us see the day as a great & wonderful day & don't want anybody to disburb us from enjoying the event.

  • she can never gain HK people's consent simply because she has UNREASONABLE belief and value that most of us really can't accept and share with... in fact, she just wanna show off instead of fighting for freedom... she's a great shame of Hong Kong!

  • Thats because this buffoon is a self hating hybrid life sucking bitch, who is confused about her own identity. Anything that is Chinese related she hates. I'm afraid the reality is nothing will change and she will continue to be bitter.

  • well, she has right to protest and she really did it which is 'legal', but it doesn't mean that what she has done right thing that most of HK people don't like her! bitch! stupid jerk......

  • We are a small HK activist group who believe in self-determination for Tibet and human rights, democracy and freedom for all Chinese people. Police failed to 'facilitate' and 'enable' protest, as they're legally obliged to do in HK.

We are a small HK activist group who believe in self-determination for Tibet and human rights, democracy and freedom for all Chinese people. The video clearly shows that police failed to 'facilitate' and 'enable' protest, as they're legally obliged to do in HK.

  • Ermmm....sorry but where's the protestors?

well...if I remember clearly, the red flag with 5 stars on it is the chinese flag...apparently, they are all cheering for china (oh so discretely)

  • guys with the yellow signs and the orange banner on the poles were the democracy/human rights protesters. To my knowledge these guys weren't promoting Tibet issue.

  • "How 'Sad' that people commenting on this video think that others have 'NO RIGHT' to speak out against communist China, "

u have the right. yet we also have the righto to oppose u.

westerners have ulterior motives and that's it. if u want to prove urself as really caring about china or the world, then u need to listen to 1.3 billion chinese ppls opinions in how they see "human rights and freedom"

  • >>dudesterbabester: Your voice is exactly the same as CCP's voice. First of all, it's not only westerners, but also many Asian support freedom, human rights & pro Tibet.

Secondly, you say "u have the right. yet we also have the righto to oppose u", however, CCP in China & police in HK arressted propresters (who protested peacefully for human rights), but people oppose protesters were not arrested!

It is unfair, unjustice and big liar!

  • they r not protestors u dumb bitch,,they r cheering for china ~~

  • Isn't it funny how pro-communist's think people have no right to protest, no right to disagree, no right to an opinion; but that of pro-communist. How 'Sad' that people commenting on this video think that others have 'NO RIGHT' to speak out against communist China, yet use their free speech to write here. Try your free speech in commuinist china - and see how quickly your mouth is silenced by the communist thugs.YOU cry out 'Let china have a voice.' BUT! Deny it to others. You are Barbarians!

  • Look who's ignorant. The Pro-Chinese are NOT necessarily Pro-Communist. The Pro-Chinese are NOT necessarily anti-free speech. The Pro-Chinese only want one thing: don't try to tarnish the image of China, don't try to desecrate the games.

It's the ignorant westerners such as you who lump together the Pro-Chinese with the Pro-Communist, and imagines all Pro-Chinese supporters are mere puppets of the CCP regime.

Don't discredit the Chinese of the games out of your ignorance.

  • You are right, but there are ignorant idiots on both sides who mixes the both. From what i see, many of the PRO Chinese douchebag thought anyone who speak out against the communist party or support dalai Lama want to destroy the chinese race. (I really wonder what kind of education they get in China to develop such ideas) Same for many pro tibetians, they thought anyone who condemn the tibetian riot are communists.

  • Balencian, I agree with you that many Chinese (esp. mainland Chinese) can't distinguish btw China as a State and the CCP. I am sure as we get to know more about the western democratic systems, more of us will make the distinction.

However, even for people like me who can make the distinction, protesting/boycotting the Beijing Olympics is very different to protesting against the CCP. The latter we don't care. The former is (inadvertent or not) desecration of our Chinese pride.

  • IF! You bothered to read my comment properly ,you would see that i used the terms: Pro-communist/ communist china!

communisim is a recent historical plague that has destroyed physically and mentally the true history of china.Communists are terrified of free speech and human rights, as they control through fear, torture and imprisonment. The chinese people are warm and friendly. The commuist leaders are a disgrace to china. And please don't assume i'm a westerner, biased, and ignorant, open your minds

  • I've read your post carefully. You referred to "pro-communist" and "people commenting on this video" as if they are one and the same. Well, they are not.

communism = plague? Please be moderate in your assessment of history and politics. Communism hasnt been successful. But have you considered why it was so popular to the non-western world in early 20th century? And ideologically at least, communism IS compatible with democracy and human rights.

  • Dear jimy327.When a people are starving, desperate, hunted, murdered&terrorised.Where desperation rages and the human soul is lost, then those people will reach out and accept the hand of any who promise freedom, hope, food & organisation. commmunisim thrives in the misery of the poor.Too late they realise that one dictator was replaced with another.Critics with a valid opinion that does not match the state communist line, are harrassed, silenced, and imprisoned. How does this equate with human rights?

  • Seamus357: do you know what communism is?

"Communism is a socioeconomic structure that promotes the establishment of a classless, stateless society based on common ownership of the means of production" (Wikipedia)

Communism is beyond a political system. Comparing it to "dictatorship" or "totalitarianism" is like comparing apples to pears.

The essence of communism is that extreme inequality under capitalism will lead to worldwide proletarian revolt, and creation of a new world order.

  • @jimy327 the current chinese system is more like a very extreme form of capitalism, profit before anything. eventually, it would balance itself with communism by blending in more social benefits.

  • Seamus357:

Have you watched or read les miserables? Do you know about the French Revolution? Communism was intended to end those same social injustices: oppression of the state, inequality of wealth, lack of civil rights. Communism is about giving power to the people. So how is that incompatible with democracy and human rights?

Communism in practice however, became much more complicated with political realities, vested interests, and personal judgments/values/interpretations.

  • Seamus357:

You seem emphasize "dictator" a lot. Again, it shows your ignorance.

Current CCP in China is far from a dictatorship, because there is no dictator. Mao and Deng were more or less "dictators", but that is not the case for Jiang and Hu. There are a lot of political factions within CCP, based on ideology or interest. Hu is also constrained by previous generations' legacies. At worst, the current CCP is totalitarian. At best, CCP's a giant one party parliament.

  • Sorry if I wrongly assumed you are an ignorant, biased westerner. You are from Ireland, and you appear to suggest that China is still communist, that the CCP has done nothing but atrocities. I think it is fair to assume at least that you are not familiar with the changes in China for the past 20 years.

Do you know about the land reforms, open door policy, privatisation of businesses? Have you been to China recently? Do you know most Chinese appreciate CCP for China's economic development?

  • Basically what you saying is..the CHinese government is suppressing the Chinese people. Now, would the majority of Chinese and overseas Chinese and Chinese studying oversea be still support the CHinese government if they are suppressing us ? I suggest you get your head of the western media.

  • And another reason for the westerners' ignorance is that they cannot read Chinese. We are very privileged to live in HK to be able to read Chinese and English medias. So we see clearly how the western medias lied and how the westerners were fooled. On the one hand I felt angry at the western medias -- HOW CAN THEY DO THAT? On the other hand I really feel pity for the ordinary westerners.

Most westerners still did not know the truth. Most of them are too old to learn Chinese.

  • Hate protesters. They are Chinese and should support China and Olympics. The protesters are stupid and garbage.

  • Ya! I hate protester! I hate them! They are just cruel and *@#*# i wanna *#$@@!* them! Send me a message of u agree!

  • some people are persuaded by the west media, waving thier so called tibet flag.

but most Chinese are showing their true feelings. They live in China,so they know how the country is at the moment.

Only local Chinese have the right to speak China not west or minority of anti-china people

  • My family in Hong Kong can testify that most people cheering for China are locals. You are talking 100,000+ people - quite impossible to round up from Guangdong. Don't kid yourself.

China is really moving forward. Do you notice that the majority of the crowd is of the younger generation? They hadn't been through the cultural revolution. They represent our future.

You are the oxy-moron, tomkwc, not them.

People in Hong kong know they were wrong and they don't abuse mainlanders anymore.

  • Thousand of brits on hongkong street protest beijing olympic torch relay. BBS Mars.

  • Democracy & Human Rights for Hong Kong!

Democracy & Human Rights for China!

  • Please go back to your Psychiatrist. He might need to give you better medicine.

  • Go China, Go!

  • tomkwc - you are a bitch. HK people are not kissing ass for shit. You stupid fuck! This tells you great changes happens in China & HK. Stop fucking comparing the CCP government from the cultural revolution era to Government of today.

  • Bitch, Stupid Fuck......educated vocabulary to "respectfully" disagree with someone else's opinion. The communist government has made unbelieveable improvements for the past 30 years, this I agree with you and the Chinese should be proud of that. But I still think it's funny when only a little over 10 years ago HK people still call mainlanders "Ah Chan" and suddenly they are now singing "chien jeen". It's like an oxy-moron.

  • a lot of people here that day were visiting from Guangdong or other parts of the Mainland, not all were locals.

  • HAHA DEEWW LAY LO MO!

  • For those who does not understand Chinese: Hongkong people stand up and say "fuck off protesters, you are not welcome in Honkkong"!!

  • No body can mess up with China.

  • right now you can see how did they treat protesters because the protesters were not welcomed in HK. i love people in HK, as they said: get out of here; fuck off

  • Protest against pro-tibet! lol

Asked those pro-tibet to fuck off and not to stop the earth move! haha

  • hahaha i think the title is misleading. these are actually the supporters, one protestor eventually showed up and got dissed by the crowd. lol

  • the ones w/ the yellow signs and the orange banner were 'pro-democracy' and the ones shouting and waving flags are... 'counter protesters'

  • You mean pro-democrazy, right? These handful of hot-headed idiots dare to collude with foreigners to call for Tibet separation from China on Chinese terroritory! Before the modern Chinese republic, such treasonous action would have costed their heads.

  • According to your description everybody on street is some sort of protester.

  • respect
