Why is it that when Mustangs are proven to be better than Camaros, Chevy fans drop the Camaro and bring up the Corvette? You're comparing a 5L to a 6.2L and a 7L exotic car. Then you stay with the Mustang brand and compare the Corvette to the Super Snake, if you want to bring up Chevy's top of the line car, compare it to Ford's top of the line car, not the Super Snake, but the Ford GT. Even then, the 7L Corvette and even the Dodge 8L Viper fall behind the 5.4L GT. Make the argument even and fair
The handling is a lot better in the Camaro and I'm not just saying that because I'm a chevy fan but because it's been proven in multiple magazines and testing websites.

I was trained as a Ford tech, so I know what Im talking about. The early 4.6l 2v were pathetic, and yes, they stopped making power beyond 4500 or so. Only the 4v cobra motors were worth a damn (when they werent burning up cam-journals from oiling problems a high rpms)
The P.I. heads allowed some increase, but were ultimately still outright f*cking weak. Maybe 225hp at 4700rpms, tops. The 4.6l 3-valve made a decent 305hp or so but were mechanical failures with their VCT's

For the first time in over 20 years, Ford FINALLY made a decent N/A mustang that's worth a shit (unlike the 4.6l powered "shit-boxes" that preceded it) and you fan-boys get off as if this little switch of status has always been the case.
And as for the "loan" remark, Ford's engineering in the late 90's was so bad that it was affecting car sales. They had to subsidize their operation to stay afloat. By the time the auto-crash hit, they were small enough to barely escape without taking loans.

The 3v motor spent more time blowing out VCT's then it did driving. Although the 5.0l is a good motor, its built on a long legacy of failures. Glad to see that they manage to get it right.

Also, the VCT locked up from oil contamination. The paper elements in oil filters shed fibers into the oiling system naturally. Ford engineers (in all their glorious wisdom) decided to make the orifice on the VCT control solenoid so tiny that those same fibers would clog them. (fail)
@originaldriver On that VCT issue I believe their was a TSB issued for that. On the other hand, my comment on FI applied to foreign or other vehicles besides the camaro. The ls1 was geared rather low so on the acceleration it was rather weak.. Had a killer top end though. I will agree with you and blame this outcome came from poor head design on the stang. Yet, the 3v isn't bad despite the solenoid/phaser issue. I have no plans on keeping it myself.

@originaldriver OHC engines do have high rev capaibility. Not all are built to rev high. It also would depend on your definition of "high." And please do respect purpose in the manufactering equation. Just because some built GM with a big cam can rev to say 8000, does not qualify this as an argument, for that is a purpose built race engine. For there are plenty of purpose built OHV Fords out there that rev well and make power. In production manufactering, it is a balancing act.

I'm just going to flat tell you, that you are full of shit about the 4.6L 2V choking after 4000RPMs "in general." The one case that may be evident, would be in the case of the F-150, since the cam and intake profile was setup to get a bit more low-end torque. Most of the other 2V motors made positive net power up to 6K RPM.
@originaldriver FWIW, the 92-95 LT1s in the F bodies only made on avg 230-50HP to the wheels in those days, despite over 1L more displacement. And, do note that the Mustang in 95 still had the 5.0L OHV, not the 4.6L. The 4.6L first debuted in the Lincoln, then the Thunderbird and Cougar, Crown Vic/Grand Marquise. Clearly not 'performance' platforms. I've mentioned this many times before, but GM's 4.4L and 4.6L DOHC Northstar engine was rated at SAE 290HP (not wheels).

besides, adding more displacment and a higher s/c psi doesnt help the gt500. it was already slow and had problems with traction and handling. in a mustangs instance less hp is better as proven by the boss 302 and the gt350. the only thing the 2013 gt500 has going for it is top speed which isnt really good for shit anyways. sorry. mustangs still blow. professionals already predict a 0 loss in 0-60 times and drag times for the new gt500 and it hasnt even come out yet. thats sad.

ya. a camaro has a higher skidpad rating. it handles better than the mustang. plus the only reason the mustang is faster is because of dohc and a higher compression ratio. chevy's 6.2L was way more powerful so ford needed to highly customize their 5.0L to get the competators edge. ZL1 with the LSA v8 not only beats the 5.0 but also the gt500 and boss laguna seca. a camaro doesnt print money but for sure kills mustangs.

And, do note that the Mustang in 95 still had the 5.0L OHV, not the 4.6L. The 4.6L first debuted in the Lincoln, then the Thunderbird and Cougar, Crown Vic/Grand Marquise. Clearly not 'performance' platforms. I've mentioned this many times before, but GM's 4.4L and 4.6L DOHC Northstar engine was rated at SAE 290HP (not wheels).

besides, adding more displacment and a higher s/c psi doesnt help the gt500. it was already slow and had problems with traction and handling. in a mustangs instance less hp is better as proven by the boss 302 and the gt350. the only thing the 2013 gt500 has going for it is top speed which isnt really good for shit anyways. sorry. mustangs still blow. professionals already predict a 0 loss in 0-60 times and drag times for the new gt500 and it hasnt even come out yet. thats sad.

ya. a camaro has a higher skidpad rating. it handles better than the mustang. plus the only reason the mustang is faster is because of dohc and a higher compression ratio. chevy's 6.2L was way more powerful so ford needed to highly customize their 5.0L to get the competators edge. ZL1 with the LSA v8 not only beats the 5.0 but also the gt500 and boss laguna seca. a camaro doesnt print money but for sure kills mustangs.

I saw it on Car and Driver!" Being the educated individual that I am, I called him out on it. I test drove the car, and it was quiet, boring, terrible visibility, the interior was shitty, and it didn't FEEL like a car with 426 hp. So I got a new Mustang, which had everything I wanted from the Camaro.

First off, why should us domestic guys fight with each other when the imports are the bigger enemy. Buy American.
Second, Ford came out with the new 5.0 because the new Camaro walked on the 4.6. Without the competition from Chevy, Ford would have kept making 4.6 Mustangs because it there wasn't another car to judge it against in it's class. The competition between Ford and Chevy is good for us consumers, but it doesn't mean we should have childish name calling arguments.

Oh how the tables have turned. The Mustang outsells the Camaro for what.... 40+ years, but the Camaro is usually faster (comparable models). Now, the Mustang is faster and the Camaro sells more.
It's all well and good that the Camaro has outsold the Mustang for 2 years, but there are about a trillion more Mustangs on the road right now, so there's some catching up to be done.
Also, comparing a Mustang to a Corvette smacks of desperation.

I think the notes at 0:29 should be fixed, both the V6 and V8 2011 Mustangs beat the V6 and V8 2010 Camaro's, in every single test. Search for it from Motor Trend. ALSO, they just finally tested the NEW 2011 Camaro SS, against the 2011 Mustang GT, and again, the Mustang won, by quite a bit mind you, and still, it costs less, gets better fuel economy, is lighter, handles better and brakes better.

first off, the mustang v6 doesn't have twin turbos, it has a 3.7L 305hp 31mpg beast last time i checked under my hood! They came out with Eco-Boost motors for fuel economy and performance which shows how great and smart ford really is, and so what if the new v6 camaro has 5 more hp, it still is slower than the mustang and doesn't get 31 mpg you retard.
