the problem is battery.. it stop function properly in a very short time.. battery last long but is not functioning good.. usual problem is the chip or the motherboard of the battery.. all else is really very good.. the display has fantastic image..

@pat20105 BULL SHIT!!!I have had two of these..Used them from 07 until yesterday when i bought my macbook pro..My 530 is now my dedicated music computer for my stereo since I filled the hard drive up with music..Sure its worn and the power cord is taped together .it has a few lines running down the screen but I beat it up and NEVER...NEVER had a prob with them..If you find one buy it..the batteries last 2.5 hours online..and if your over heating your DIRTY!!I CLEAN IT gave one to my bro he still

yeah its a good laptop but some times you can feel that it has a very low output when it comes to music......also works better with win7 4gb ram.....ohhhh the touchpad feels great compared to other laptops.......

Hm..strange how i only have 66.2GB hard drive when he says its 120GB..

Anyways, I have this laptop (using it right now), I've had it for well over 2 years now..had to add more RAM, cant use loads of applications at once, crap battery life, overheating issues...other than that, I would say its perfect for a basic laptop and very reliable considering how much it cost. :P

Worst laptop ever. after 6 months i have power issues! This guy has no clue what he is talking about. People want realiability. My laptop keeps switching itself off, replaced motherboard, battery and ac adaptor. Still same issue not charging battery properly.

Very very bad battery life but it was one of the cheapest and best budget solutions on the market. And it's an HP :)

No hightech games offcourse but it can take Dungeon Siege II with no lag!

Even World of Warcraft by the way!!!

I bought the HP DV4 with AMD Turion x2, with 4GB ram and ATI graphics, after my HP530 had charging issues. Now I WILL NEVER buy HP again they are shit products. This laptop is fucking slow for a 64bit machine. I run 64 bit software. Fuck HP. For $300 dollars more I could of had an Apple Mac. HP = Shit Laptops TRUST ME!

I have the 530 Intel Duo, with 4 GB of ram. I have one ISSUE with this laptop is that is fails to charge the battery, sometimes it just switches off. NO its not a battery or charger issue. The problem is the motherboard has a faulty part on it. It is not worth buying a new main board and my laptop is already out of warrenty. Solution I bought a new laptop.

I have a 530 and its loaded with vista business, its a real workhorse and I've never had a problem with it. Only thing I plan on doing is putting in a second gig of RAM.

And I love it! This is an amazing laptop...I really suggest it.

Mine came with Vista Home Basic and with 1Gb it loaded absolutely fine. I've just put another 1Gb in it, as it's cheap enough. For the price I can't fault this laptop.

I was thinkin about buying one of these. Just because its running at 1.6 gh,z it still it easily keeps pace with a 3.0ghz P4 thanks to its MUCH more efficient architecture and faster FSB speeds. How fast is the memory and whats it clocked at? Does the Bios even allow overclocking?- just in case for future needs- The main things I would use this laptop for is Emails,Papers, AIM, Hittin up the Web and Youtube. No gaming on the laptop since I just finished building my Quad Core Gaming rig ;)

It's a bit limited expansion-wise as you can see from the video. Battery-wise it seems to be about 2hrs. I wouldn't let those things put you off. I got one today I think it's great. Love the keyboard and the overall look of it.

The keyboard sucks and it's Core (non-2) Duo, so no 64-bit. Try the keyboard at the store first. Also, the display is average and vertical viewing angles are not great. The screen doesn't tilt back beyond 120 degrees or so, so if you're tall you'll be slumping.

Oh, and the first one I got made a very annoying noise from the video subsystem (I could tell because when the screen was closed the noise stopped). So look real close, HP aren't particularly preoccupied with quality parts.

Also: only 2 USB ports. The audio in and out are on the front, so it's weird when a headphone is plugged in, it interferes with your typing a bit.

Performance is super, and the hard disk is good. It happily accepts 3 gigs (2 gigs extra), so do go for that; it's only $50. Disable the swap file, your Windows will fly. As with any Intel CPU I've seen, the fan goes off during high load and never stops, just know you'll probably run into this.

and last (but not least) it looks really sleek! lol, not that sleek...

not the best specs ever, but for it's price! pretty good, took about 30 mins to completely set up and works like a breeze. can't wait to add that other 1gb memory module!

It's not bad. More of a budget model though.

They're usually pretty well priced. Of course it does have integrated graphics but they're like GMA950 or something like that. But they might be X3100, someone correct me on that.
