what size straight pipe did u use? and it is a true dual? or a y pipe? or what? like a 3" pip with 4" tips? i really like ur set up it sounds amazing. please let me know i have the same truck and wanna know exactly what u have done. i want the same set up
the electric start is nice in the winter and summer!!! just have to remember to set the heater or ac controls before you get out the night before!!! its nice to get in a warm truck in the middle of winter!! instead of having to wait for it to warm up!!!
i really think i would get better mpg without mds. it hardly ever comes on when cruise is set. it comes on alot at lower speeds. on my way to work, which is about 20 miles, it might come on 3 or 4 times. and that is mostly on the small down hills. so i really dont see it helping. the best i got out of a tank since i got it in june is 15.3 mpg. also the 20s do not help.
wow... that's it? i have an '04 hemi ram (except mines reg. cab 2wd) and i get about 16 around town and about 18 on the highway... which is still pretty crappy...
Is that somehow hard to believe? How would you know what kind of gas mileage my truck gets? Have you been driving it lately? It consistantly gets right at 16 city and 18-19 highway. how do I know? I've been driving it for 6 years!
uh... the new F-150s are supposed to be capable of 21mpg on the highway... they're touted as the most fuel-efficient full-sized pickup... im not trying to say that my truck gets "good" gas mileage... but it CERTAINLY gets better than 10mpg... city or otherwise... as with many vehicles today, my truck has an onboard computer that can calculate MPG and DTE... i reset it with every fill-up and it consistantly gets 15-16 city and 18-19 highway...
Key word man:: "supposed"Thats impossible for a 5.4 L v8..My tacoma gets 21-22 highway..I saw an 08 F-150 for sale on eBay and the dealer/seller(i cant remember)said it got 11 mpg city..I was a little bit stunned, but hey,you dont buy a truck for gas mileage..
you're right... you don't buy a truck for the gas mileage... you buy it to tow and haul things... but i can ASSURE you man... that the hemi gets better than 10-11 MPG... although 10-11 does sound about right for a fully-eqipped 4x4 quad-cab hemi... mine is 2wd, short-bed, and regular-cab... the weight difference is pretty big... so if you are referring do a big 4x4 quad-cab hemi... then your figures are pretty accurate...
Ohhhhhh thats it.Reg cab and all.I thought you meant the big papa quad cap fully-equipped monster..And i was like my gosh..ill have to look in to one of those! And yours is a 5.7?or 4.7?
mines the 5.7 HEMI... and that gas mileage is with the 20" wheels, also... i do have a K&N cold-air intake and MBRP cat-back exhaust, however... that may be contributing to my gas mileage a little...
yeah, i still have the stock manifolds and cats. it is not a true dual setup. so i think i am good on the backpressure. i am thinking of putting a super 40 flowmaster on it. cant handle the drone from the mds when it kicks in.
sounds beastly! but what about back pressure? if you still have your stock exhaust manifolds and catalytic converters then maybe you have enough. if not though, your exhaust valves won't seat all the way and may burn. just my $0.02
Kick on the tow haul kicks off the mds

I have a VERY hard time believing it,but hey,its your truck, ive never seen it,and never been in it...So i guess ill take your word.
The thing is my tacoma(2008) gets about 18-19 city..I just dont see how a 5.7 hemi can come anywhere near that.the new F-150's get about 11...

sweet... sometimes i wish i had the MDS, sometimes i'm glad i don't... how is gas mileage with it, anyway?
