11:56 this was used on an MSNBC commercial. Also I hate how he says "Good Night and Good Luck" is he trying to be Edward R. Murrow? Cos he's not. And lol whats up with 2:45-2:49? LOL!
McCain (a veteran himself) is one of the biggest anti-veteran voters in Washington. The people of Arizona need to throw his ass out of office already. He's a paid for fool and government scumbag.
Ameritards, in general, are one of the most undisciplined when it comes to leading a healthy lifestyle. I see so many people every day who are basically immobile, the sole reason appears to be they are FATBUCKETS. Also the amount of people in this country who abuse drugs/alcohol/food, has to be one of the highest in the world. Maybe the government should encourage insurance companies to give BIG discounts to their insured clients, for meeting certain health markers (weight, bp, nonsmoker, etc).
They don't want you to have an abortion, nor do they want to give that child and it's parent(s)healthcare if unaffordable because they don't want to raise taxes. Those taxes that will no doubt raise that child through Government assisted programs. Don't they realize how hypocritical they are?
If his granny got cancer in Australia, Canada, France, New Zealand or any other 1st world with a NHS, she would get the best health care, equal to any that the US in any way could provide for just what she pays in her tax.
Its the US health system that is shitty, not NHS.
And if i havta be a little commie in my lifestyle to ensure that my neighbours children, if they get sick can get the best healthcare, without their mother getting stressed because of money, then so be it.

haha, what a joke.
The Big American Corporations are SO evil. That is why in a country when these corporations have more freedom than in any other the American people are SO oppressed and have things SO bad.
I wish that instead a government was in charge of our welfare, like in Cuba or China...boy, wouldn't that be great.
Anyone who's fought an insurance company to get them to pay a claim or approve desperately needed medical care knows that they aren't really "lucky" at all. They hope there's a chance that they will get medical care because they have insurance. Often they find out when it's too late that the policy is worthless.
Listen to Congressional testimony by former health insurance executives who let people die by refusing to pay claims from people with treatable illnesses.
4) Capitalism is used to build EMPIRES. In America, We don't like imperialism or imperial classes. We don't bow to queens! What did the evil little Queen of Buckingham palace who gets hauled around in a golden carriage ever produce of real value to others in exchange for all her wealth? Did she really earn that wealth? What about Bernie Madoff ? We must return to the American System of economy! Google: LaRouche on the American Sysytem of economics
3) But, what did he produce of real value to others in exchange for the profit he made? The shareholder does the same thing. The Capitalist is a parasite that feeds of the production of others without having to produce anything of real value himself. He is a drag in the economy & sucks money out of the economy like a tick attached to a healthy horse. He gets a free lunch. A Capitalist is BAD for any economy. Capitalism is not the American system of economy.
2) Under the real American system of economy, real wealth is measured on ones ability to manufacture & produce something. But, the Capitalist has found a way to obtain money without having to produce or manufacture anything of real value to others. He just makes his money make more money. A privet banker does the same thing. He loans you $1000. You work & produce your ass off & pay him back $1,150. He profits $150 off your ability to produce.
1) Capitalism violates the purpose for money. There are products & services we need & desire & must have in order to survive well as a culture & Nation. We produce a verity of products & use money as the medium of exchange to obtain those different products. THAT IS THE ONLY PURPOSE FOR MONEY! It's just paper! It has no other real value or purpose. If you want more money, you must be able to CREATE & MANUFACTURE something of real value to people.

We need to go back to the Hill Burton General Hospital System we use to have before the Wall Street Privet HMO & Insurance corporations came into power and shut them down. Check out this video. It will show you the Hill Burton Public Hospitals we use to have. YouTube: LPACTV: Franklin Roosevelt and Public Health
Blue Dogs were formed in '95 by a Republican after the Clinton Plan failed. The Clinton plan sure must have scared some folks. A lot of voters were fooled into thinking the GOP was out. Blue Dogs have never voted along Democrat lines. That's why they voted for Iraq, Patriot Act and why they need to be voted out of office in favor of real Dem's.
Keep preachin the word brother keith. those who are against the public option want get it until there copay is 100.00$ then they will wake up. but it will be to late.
I am so sick of these blue dog dems and the republican party putting their own interests above those of the people. Every one of them who votes against this should be voted out of office.
Anyone who would like honest information about the public option should visit my profile. I have a link to the ez to read version of the bill as well as many more resources and ways in which you can get more involved. What you won't find are scare tactics.
Charles Manson had more respect for his victems than the democratic party has. If you want your older parents or grandparents to suffer support this bill. But remember one day you too will be old.
Hey Mo-ran. Sell your self down the government river but leave me out of it. When I can afford my own insurance I will get some. But till then I don't need to be dictated to. Read the Bill
So when certain people don't support Obamacare, they are failing to do their electorial duties, but when they support a "public" option. Funny that Olbermann doesn't care about the SEIU backing the Democrats, or any union, or hell, trial lawyers, etc. I also find it extremely ironic that without those "evil" coporations Olbermann grips about, his sorry fucking ass wouldn't even have a job in the first place. Yeah..no corporations, no advertisers, no Olbermann.

Brilliant counter argument you stupid cocksucker. I shouldn't have to point that out though. If you're really Irish, it's self-evident. Also, have you everd heard of ad-hominem arguments, how about fallacies? I certantly hope so...since you're used both in only one sentence. Why don't you just go suck on Olbermans cock? Maybe you can clean out his ass hole while your down there?
in my opinion. FUCK the health care idea and get it socialized. so we can get screwed by them. The republicans are fighting so hard cause they would lose ALL thier money.
their arguement is that keep it how it is because were sleezeballs... that is a shitty arguement.
Write your congressman and senator ordering him/her that you want universal healthcare. Don't petition, ORDER THEM, they work for us... remember? We pay their salaries.
Good thing that "smart" voters "voted" to eliminate their ability to sue their HMO's and physicians. We are getting the government we deserve because we don't stay informed and allow our media to be run by the "special interest" that Olberman condemns while he works for one. SAD.
What's worse is that supporting Obama's plan is not legitimate healthcare reform...why else would Big Pharma and Big Insurance Companies be supporting it.
Folks i'm 52 i've got 3 kids,2 cancer operations,5 colonoscopy's a nurse that came to my house, i even have a couple of large boxes of medical supplies left over,a wife that had a serious nazel operation. total cost here in merry old canada (NOTHING)..DO YOUR RESEARCH FOLKS, and don't scream out SOCIALISM, thats so full of shit that argument, we pick our own doctors, and no one tells me what hospital to use.. by the way we do pay taxes we don't starve and we take care of everyone,!!
The thing I like about Canada is not that your government support Allopathy but that it allow alternative healthcare practitioners to practice their forms of healing too. This I believe lowers the cost of healthcare while helping people to live longer. As such Canadians are generally healthier than the average American
How come we never see 2 extreme ends debating each other? On these shows, it's always an extreme beating up a moderate. I never see Oberman vs. Michael Savage, or Glen Beck vs. Rache Maddow, etc... It's almost like they're just putting on a show to enrage people for rating. Oh, that's right, it is after all a show. People should watch less of these guys and turn on C-SPAN instead, and form your own opinion, don't allow yourself to be spinned by these corporate drones.
Special Interest Groups are paying R and D.... Term limits are what we need.. campaign spending limits, etc....What Michael Moore does not understand is that unions have killed this country....
Income limits for who?? Politicians? Ex-politicians..Yes.. Not only that but I think every speaker should have to tell the audience at functions how much they are paid to speak.. Special interest groups, professional politicians and unions are killing our country..
okay how do you know what type of quality care you will be given? the first thing they ask you anymore is do you have insurance while you are clutching you chest complaining of chest pains. i know people who have child with cancer and the doctor said to them that it might be considered a pre-existing condition. wtf!!!!
Seeing how Obama has received 18 million from the health care industries just last year alone. I think thats why he knowingly put contraversial elements in his proposal, like end of life councling and panels to help seniors get better care. He knew the right would jump on it. That way he could say the opposition to a public plan is just to great.
In 1980, the top one percent by income in this United States had about nine percent of total national income.
But since then, you've had increasing concentration of income and wealth to the point that by 2007, the top one percent was taking home 21 percent of total national income. Now, when they're taking home that much, the middle class doesn't have enough purchasing power to keep the economy going.
And this is the main reason for the recession / depression were in now.
each one of them should have my health insurance for one year, if they like playing russian roulette, oh wait a minute, i dont have insurance cause i CANT AFFORD it!!!! every stinking one of them are liars!!!
You say you dont want socialism??? Then you can send your social security check back when the govt sends one each month. And no more public schools, you can pay for it out of pocket like you would for college. No more police or fire dept because those are govt programs. And empty the prisons to. And if another country invades , your on your own...no more military. Good luck, you're gonna need it!
The reality is that the health care industry was the single largest contributor to his campaign in 2008, with individuals and PACs collectively throwing in $261,000. Ross, a former pharmacist, also received over $100,000 in dividends last year from the pharmacy he used to own. See the comment section of my profile to see which other dems and repubs are in the pockets of big pharma and the insurance companies.
I'll sound so naive but why can't we outlaw bribery? I don't want lobbyists to be allowed to pay politicians anymore! These assholes should not be thinking of campaign contributions but of the good of society!
I agree completly this is the root of the problem with our Govt. Even Obama recieved 18 million from the healthcare lobbyists just last year alone. We need campaign finance reform so we can get our elected officials working for us instead of wall street and big corporations.
I know evil corporations.........Just let government take it all over........Just like our Obama's communist buddies will be proud...American's will hate it, but hey that's the change you can believe in!
Man I love Keith he's the greatest. I am tired of the puppets going on and on about the horrors of socialism without having the slightest inkling of what they are actually talking about.
Odd question. Aren't they thinking, "Good think he has private health insurance and isn't on gov't health care because his cancer is incurable and, thus a waste of money on the public system."?
Okay, there won't be rationing. No, not for a Sen. as they are either wealthy and have their own insurance or would move to the front of the line as they are the leaders on this country.
Regarding Thune's statement: Not a lie, that is an interpretation of the convoluted legaleze text after it has been set in motion for a decade. It is a valid conclusion, if not neccisarily accurate.
Campaign contributions: Pelosi is getting nearly as much from Insurance companies And Sen. Reid out strips them both combined (same source as KO). Do we mark them as paid off?
How can you seperate payment from legislation? If you call one bought, you must call all of them bought... or none.
The trouble is the Free Market which is monopolized with extremely greedy people who create monopolies at the expense of others. I am putting the blame on the right people..You just don't want to see the truth deregulation and how corrupting that truly is. Deregulation is what caused this economic downfall.
Lib Media's failed attempt to spin Obamas failure into Americans against our President because of his skin color, and not because of his attempts at Socialism doesn't work. Look at all the polls; the majority are seeing through Obamas spin job and calling it like it is... socialized medicine is not wanted and won't work. Not in this great country of ours!
Well said Keith, except that the public option in HR3200 is so pathetically weak that it is designed to fail. The real test of corporate ownership is whether your "representative" will vote yes or no on HR676 - single payer Medicare for All. And replacing these corporate stooges MUST be done. People need to vote in the primary elections of the Democratic Party. Most general elections for the house are not even contested. It's the primaries that matter.
Would you take a tax break because you think you can make on your own with no help whatsoever from anybody, OR have a Belgium type system where they hit you with more taxes, but they take care of health, rent control, pensions (When you retire, they pay you as much every month as your last job), etc.
Too bad Olbermann didn't discuss how much liberal Democrats received from the health sector, or how the AMA and "big pharma" not only supports HR 3200 but is pouring millions into a current ad campaign. The healthcare and insurance companies will be receiving huge government subsidies from the current plan. This is a joke that's going to cost us trillions in addition to mandating we buy health insurance.
Too bad you don't know how to read an entire YouTube comment...
He said that Republicans and Blue Dogs were owned by the health care industry, when they very clearly gave more to Democrats last election. He didn't discuss the closed-door meetings they've had with the President. He didn't discuss how PhRMA is spending up to 150 million on an ad campaign supporting HR 3200. Insurance companies are also buying ads in support.
Olbermann is like O'Reilly. This is just political entertainment.
Well, first of all, I'm not surprised that Olbermannn left out SOME facts about Democrats (I'm assuming you know what you are talking about/I don't care to look those things up). But seriously, duh, each news network has their biases. But I dont know why you thi9nk a closed door meeting is something that's bad. What do think they were talking about. "how they can destroy the world?" is that what you think abama talks about at his closed door meetings.
@gestrumpet: I know they're biased to the left just like Fox News is biased to the right. The problem with Obama's closed door meetings is that he promised during his campaign that all meetings and discussions would be open-door on c-span. I obviously don't think they're trying to destroy the world. The Health Industry is just trying lobby for what's best for itself. (Which is why it's supporting HR 3200, not opposing it as Olbermann implies.) PhRMA is allocating $150 million for ads.
Buy? It's mandated that we have health insurance, not necessarily that we all buy it. The point is to cover all citizens regardless of income, so that people who can't afford healthcare can get coverage. Otherwise a large portion of Americans will be left to rot and die for no other reason than being born poor. If that means expanding Medicare and increasing upper-class and big business taxes, so be it.
Yes buy. For example, if you are a healthy young single 20-something man, you will be forced to buy insurance with things like pregnancy coverage, routine care, etc., even if you have enough income/savings to cover medical expenses and no interest in a managed care system. Restrictions and mandates are being added which will FORCE people to buy medical insurance that includes things they don't want. Why can't I just pay the doctor out of pocket if I want to?
Um, if you can pay out of pocket, then you're not really included in this discussion except as one about greed rather than human rights or healthcare management. This is about people with no healthcare whatsoever or bad healthcare coverage. And if you don't like the extra coverage you could always go with the public option you seem adamantly opposed to... And thanks for opposing legislation that makes it illegal to deny coverage for pre-existing conditions, for peope who actually NEED coverage.
@tacopylas Because I can pay for a doctor visit I'm greedy? No, I don't blow my money on things I can't afford. Unfortunately, you don't seem to understand how the current HR 3200 works at all. It mandates specific coverage that everyone must buy. If they don't they're fined. You have to buy things you don't want or need because the government says so. This is why the insurance companies are lobbying so hard for this. You will have virtually no choice in your plan. Expect costs/taxes to rise.
You're insane if you think that's why insurance companies are lobbying against this legislation. It's all about profit. I should know, I worked for a company that employed radiologists, forwarding insurance claims to insurance companies. Do you know how many people we had to inform that Blue Cross/Blue Shield was investigating them for pre-existing conditions, even though they'd been paying for their insurance for years with full knowledge that they should be insured?
Listen to the financial expert. Obama, President Obama, that is, in case you have forgotten, has already pledged that he will not signa a bill which could not be paid for.
Unfortunately there's no way he'll be able to determine if it can be paid for at the time of signing. He'll be using economic forecast data that relies heavily on economic growth. The 'experts' never get that right. Hence SS and Medicare are going bankrupt. It's impossible without raising taxes significantly.
I love it when Keith gets fired up. Other people on other networks get fired up, but it is seldom to inform US, to protect US, it's usually to scare us, to protect power for the powerful.
Its time that we ALL demand our moneys worth from these thieves. I know theyre not all bad, but I think theyve all gotten just a little too comfortable in their positions and need a very BIG wake up call! I think its time to fill those historic buildings in D.C. with new blood - young blood. With people who remember that when you are elected you are elected not only by the peoplebut also FOR the people.
For anyone who can answer these questions correctly you will get a lifetime membership to my private club, with all amenities included, just pm me for the details.
"The most important piece of legislation in America today, with nearly 100 cosponsors in the house, H.R.676 is the only health care bill that will truly reform our tragically broken health care system.
This is the bill that your insurance company doesn't want you to know about. This is the bill that presidential candidates (except Kucinich) are afraid to talk about, presumably because they like to keep getting campaign contributions from the insurance industry."
What would you think about a health care system that actually works for everybody, costs billions of dollars less, provides greater coverage, truly protects you from financial ruin due to medical bills, improves quality, increases innovation, and returns medical decisions to you and your doctor instead of some claims adjuster at an insurance company 1,000 miles away.
31 cents of every health care dollar spent is wasted on administrative expenses and insurer profits in the US system. This is why the US spends double what other industialized nations spend on health care yet has worse outcomes. We need to save that money and spend it on better health care for you, me, and all Americans. Our system is sick and dying, and this is the cure.
Sorry Obly, I know you like criticising all those centrist democrats in the south for not bowing down before the feet of your messiah and his bullshit healthcare reform, but spare the dramatics for something that would actually benefit the people i.e. a single payer healthcare system. Why don't you talk about that? Are you beholden to the same corporations that pay your lousy ass to talk shit on the brainwashing box day and night? 99% of the congressmen are bought off by corporate interests.
A little civility in commentary expresses an intelligent observation. Bad language categorizes you as uneducated. (All responses junked as I cannot bear to read foul critiques)
Áll the bluster by American rednecks can't hide the fact that they are leashed dogs to Big Business... We have been fed Big Business 10 times a day for decades now, and so some of the propaganda has stuck, alas.
The people will not be respected or listen to, or given the correct rights... Our rights to pursue happiness has been taken away by corporation rights to make profits and fill their lottery sized salaries. The only thing these people know is how to make MONEY and Keep It at all cost...
Why doesn't he have a station on AM radio broadcasting him??? Think about it, it's because the air waves of FM & AM radio is owned byConservatives. That why you got Rush allover the place & no opposing view points. Also you got conservative pro-business supporting that. Cananyone tellme howmany small& large business support Unions, employee rights, etc.Corporations own everythingbecause they are just too powerful&until we have massive protest &massive objections onthe streets of the USA.
You seem to think making money is wrong. There's nothing worng with wanting to make a lot of money and trying to keep it. Your problem should be with your government. They're the ones that continue to allow lobbyists to provide too much influence over daily policy decisions. If the politicians weren't so corrupt it would be more difficult for the corporations to screw the masses. Point the blame in the right direction.
Capitolism can be a great thing. It works well in the US, companies have a right to make a profit. However making a profit off of sick people is an absurd system. Insurance companies are trying their best to increase there Medical loss Ratio, which used to be 5% in the 90's and has now increased to 20%. Thats the percentage of the premium that they can keep for profits and administrative costs. They do this by purging unprofitable employer accounts and denying treatment when you get sick.
So your definition of greed is anyone who wants to keep the money they've earned instead of having the government redistribute it to those who don't earn?
i hope you remember your words when and if you ever get laid off. i am sure you will think differently and when you have to worry about staying healthy for you children. you people talk bad about something that you didn't even give a chance.
The gov needs to stay out of administering HC programs completely. What they need to do is concentrate on enacting some rules that will help reduce the problems then enforce them.
To gripe about and resist helping the have-nots when you can afford to because you want to keep all your money to yourself is sick and evil! People know there are Americans out there overstressed and struggling daily but they don't give a damn because they'd rather let those people continue in their unfortunate circumstances than to be inconvenienced in any way; they know there are people badly in need of dental care and other forms of treatment but they don't give a shit and that is wrong!
The majority of the folks that will bear the burden of the tax for this program are the middle-class. This segment of the population has just lost about 40% -50% of it's wealth due to the economic collapse. Who's going to bail them out or subsidize their losses? The short answer is no one. They will have to work it out for themselves and then get pounded by BHO's big government spending that will increase taxes to the breaking point. It's not greed, it's ability to pay that comes into play.
Yep basically every person we deny we gain money....
How can you even sleep knowing that that 6 story mansion your in is the direct result of hundreds upon thousands of other's work? That you have indirectly killed people?
Its just....insane... really the price of the pharmacudicals is miniscule the fact that they are so high is just....insulting...everything about the healthcare system is....
Steny Hoyer received $2 mil. from the healthsector and it didn't seem to drive him against this version of health reform.Maybe all these numbers really don't mean all that much.
your vote doesnt mean anything, regardless of the candidate, the government that rules us still has control. obama is just there so you can say "that nigger this and that nigger that" while ur robbed blind
At 5:15 into the video he says "Congressman Joe Barton from Oklahoma"... Oklahoma? really? Joe Barton is a Representative in Texas. How much of these "fact" he is spouting are actally facts?
Socialism is EVIL! Gimme a break!. How dumb can you be. But if Socialist states are evil so is the entire Europe. The U.S. needs UNIVERSAL HEALTHCARE! Freedom of choice? The insurance companies chooses its candidates. There those people with insurance coverages who still die because they are being denied costly operations. Being social and living is a social state is the best thing of HUMANITY, it is out obligation to help the people in need.
Socialism, Communism, Capitalism and the rest are simply concepts. They have no morals or emmotions. The problem is they all must be initiated by and empowered to human beings. Humans given enough power and influence over others without fail, end up working in a self-preserving manner. They want to keep the power and influence for themselves and provide just enough scraps to keep the masses in line. So the key is to keep the power away from too small a group no matter which system is used.
Universal Healthcare would benefit a large group. It has nothing to do with partisanship. The Republicans are just making it as strong point of what it means to be Republican. Listen first and learn more about Universal Healthcare. Don't just say that it is Evil.
DAcofd, no it those who are getting denied coverage because of BS like 'pre-existing" conditions. or other excuses to screw insured of coverage and wratch up the profits of health companies.
The system's current problems have been largely caused by government interference with Medicare and Medicaid. There's no chance that the government will create a solution that will actually solve anything in the long term. SS, Medicare, the Post Office, etc. all run with deficit budgets because the gov is involved. The best idea I've heard is for the gov to enact regs that could control the system and stay out of the administration side. Let them do what they're good at.
If you want to be real about this argument then you have to consider those that are for HC Reform. They're the elite socialites, welfare recipients and illegal aliens. They either have more than enough money so they won't have to use the gov HC or they're so poor they won't have to pay for it. That leaves the vast middle class stuck with inferior HC and the bill. No wonder the town hall meetings are so heated. The middle class citizens are expressing their anger because they're getting the shaft.
Universal healthcare guarantees that all people in the so called greatest country on earth will have their health taken care of. The system will work if people allow it to. Unfortunately however, the world as well as the country is full of selfish people. Those against universal healthcare are selfish and inhumane. Two principles that America supposeldy doesnt stand for. Its sad. Those against universal care in the US are inhumane, selfish, and anti-American
Who's going to pay for it? Medicare and Medicaid were planned so well by the government that they will be bankrupt in a couple of years. Most of the argument against it is about costs. Had the gov stayed out of HC in the first place the cost wouldn't be so high now. Everything they touch becomes a burden on the tax payers.
You have no idea how big or small the inconvenience is going to be. Basically what you're saying is that it's okay for many people to be inconvenienced financially so that a few people can have the convenience of HC. On top of having to pay more taxes I'm likely to have to give up my current HC and and go to the public option. The same public option that Congress and Obama have exempted themselves from having to participate in. The fact theat they're expempt tells the story of how good it is.
A few people? you better look at your statistics my friend. i hope that if you ever need serious medical attention that you don't have to declare bankruptcy just because you can't pay what your current health care plan doesn't cover or denies.
What makes you think the government option is going to cover those things? You think they'll give you a 'whatever it takes to keep you alive' option then you've not been listening to the debates. You're likely to get even less care than you're complaining about now. It's just that more people will be eligible for the inferior coverage.
These are the only Democrats with integrity left.

And if i havta be a little commie in my lifestyle to ensure that my neighbours children, if they get sick can get the best healthcare, without their mother getting stressed because of money, then so be it.

That was sarcasm.

Seeing how Obama has received 18 million from the health care industries just last year alone.

Question for everybody here:
Would you take a tax break because you think you can make on your own with no help whatsoever from anybody, OR have a Belgium type system where they hit you with more taxes, but they take care of health, rent control, pensions (When you retire, they pay you as much every month as your last job), etc.
Less taxes or cradle to grave security?
Coelacanth1938 2 years ago
Too bad Olbermann didn't discuss how much liberal Democrats received from the health sector, or how the AMA and "big pharma" not only supports HR 3200 but is pouring millions into a current ad campaign.
This is just political entertainment.
seraphicendeavor 2 years ago
Well, first of all, I'm not surprised that Olbermannn left out SOME facts about Democrats (I'm assuming you know what you are talking about/I don't care to look those things up). But seriously, duh, each news network has their biases. But I dont know why you thi9nk a closed door meeting is something that's bad. What do think they were talking about. "how they can destroy the world?" is that what you think abama talks about at his closed door meetings.
gestrumpet 2 years ago
@gestrumpet: I know they're biased to the left just like Fox News is biased to the right. The problem with Obama's closed door meetings is that he promised during his campaign that all meetings and discussions would be open-door on c-span. I obviously don't think they're trying to destroy the world. The Health Industry is just trying lobby for what's best for itself. (Which is why it's supporting HR 3200, not opposing it as Olbermann implies.) PhRMA is allocating $150 million for ads.
seraphicendeavor 2 years ago
Ok.
gestrumpet 2 years ago
Buy? It's mandated that we have health insurance, not necessarily that we all buy it. The point is to cover all citizens regardless of income, so that people who can't afford healthcare can get coverage. Otherwise a large portion of Americans will be left to rot and die for no other reason than being born poor. If that means expanding Medicare and increasing upper-class and big business taxes, so be it.
tacopylas 2 years ago
@Coelacanth193: Pay for it yourself?
seraphicendeavor 2 years ago
Um, if you can pay out of pocket, then you're not really included in this discussion except as one about greed rather than human rights or healthcare management. This is about people with no healthcare whatsoever or bad healthcare coverage. And if you don't like the extra coverage you could always go with the public option you seem adamantly opposed to... And thanks for opposing legislation that makes it illegal to deny coverage for pre-existing conditions, for peope who actually NEED coverage.
tacopylas 2 years ago
@tacopylas Because I can pay for a doctor visit I'm greedy? No, I don't blow my money on things I can't afford. Unfortunately, you don't seem to understand how the current HR 3200 works at all. It mandates specific coverage that everyone must buy. If they don't they're fined. You have to buy things you don't want or need because the government says so. This is why the insurance companies are lobbying so hard for this. You will have virtually no choice in your plan. Expect costs/taxes to rise.
seraphicendeavor 2 years ago
You're insane if you think that's why insurance companies are lobbying against this legislation. It's all about profit. I should know, I worked for a company that employed radiologists, forwarding insurance claims to insurance companies. Do you know how many people we had to inform that Blue Cross/Blue Shield was investigating them for pre-existing conditions, even though they'd been paying for their insurance for years with full knowledge that they should be insured?
tacopylas 2 years ago
Listen to the financial expert. Obama, President Obama, that is, in case you have forgotten, has already pledged that he will not signa a bill which could not be paid for.
usheryel 2 years ago
Unfortunately there's no way he'll be able to determine if it can be paid for at the time of signing. He'll be using economic forecast data that relies heavily on economic growth. The 'experts' never get that right. Hence SS and Medicare are going bankrupt. It's impossible without raising taxes significantly.

DefenceSpeech 2 years ago
What would you think about a health care system that actually works for everybody, costs billions of dollars less, provides greater coverage, truly protects you from financial ruin due to medical bills, improves quality, increases innovation, and returns medical decisions to you and your doctor instead of some claims adjuster at an insurance company 1,000 miles away.
DefenceSpeech 2 years ago
31 cents of every health care dollar spent is wasted on administrative expenses and insurer profits in the US system. This is why the US spends double what other industialized nations spend on health care yet has worse outcomes. We need to save that money and spend it on better health care for you, me, and all Americans. Our system is sick and dying, and this is the cure.

Steny Hoyer received $2 mil. from the healthsector and it didn't seem to drive him against this version of health reform.Maybe all these numbers really don't mean all that much.

They reported that Joe Barton received $2.6 million from the healthsector when it is more like $2 million. I am using the same source they used.

Then fix only the part that's broken. Why over haul the entire system?
DAcofd 2 years ago
Because, if you are following the data, the entire system is broken.
usheryel 2 years ago
The system's current problems have been largely caused by government interference with Medicare and Medicaid. There's no chance that the government will create a solution that will actually solve anything in the long term. SS, Medicare, the Post Office, etc. all run with deficit budgets because the gov is involved. The best idea I've heard is for the gov to enact regs that could control the system and stay out of the administration side. Let them do what they're good at.
DAcofd 2 years ago

FantaC17 2 years ago
Who's going to pay for it? Medicare and Medicaid were planned so well by the government that they will be bankrupt in a couple of years. Most of the argument against it is about costs. Had the gov stayed out of HC in the first place the cost wouldn't be so high now. Everything they touch becomes a burden on the tax payers.
DAcofd 2 years ago
Okay, pay up so everyone can have health care and shut up about it! God, it's a small inconvenience to help your fellow human beings out!
jfkjrlover 2 years ago
You have no idea how big or small the inconvenience is going to be. Basically what you're saying is that it's okay for many people to be inconvenienced financially so that a few people can have the convenience of HC. On top of having to pay more taxes I'm likely to have to give up my current HC and and go to the public option. The same public option that Congress and Obama have exempted themselves from having to participate in. The fact theat they're expempt tells the story of how good it is.
DAcofd 2 years ago
A few people? you better look at your statistics my friend. i hope that if you ever need serious medical attention that you don't have to declare bankruptcy just because you can't pay what your current health care plan doesn't cover or denies.
Renrat1982 2 years ago
What makes you think the government option is going to cover those things? You think they'll give you a 'whatever it takes to keep you alive' option then you've not been listening to the debates. You're likely to get even less care than you're complaining about now. It's just that more people will be eligible for the inferior coverage.
