I knew nothing about this guy until 2 days before the election. I'm busy with horses, outside the city. I listened to him once, and I was hooked. Voted. Done. Yay.
I'm more of a proponent of the idea of doing the festival on a different, less busy road, such as Kensington. I agree with most of Nenshi's views, but not this one.
@MATHGODpi fucksake, you can't just go south to 4th or north to 16th to get east-west? is it that fucking difficult to put your foot on the pedal longer so others that aren't in steel machines can enjoy our waterfont? because people in cars sure don't enjoy the waterfront...
I walked along Memorial Drive yesterday beside the stretch where the festival will be held in August. It's a beautiful spot and I look forward to seeing it full of Calgarians celebrating our city on the Bow. Memorial Drive isn't closing - the cars who need to use it will still have two lanes and for a few hours on a sleepy Sunday, drivers will share the other two lanes with folks who want to stroll.

What a load of nonsense. Read any CBC message board on the subject and you'll see the majority of posters are against closing memorial drive for Ald. Farrell's vanity projects. You're dead wrong that this is merely a spat between McIver and Farrell. The majority of Calgarians don't want this.
they should of had it along the forest lawn/se/ ne/mall 36 route memorial drive

It's a lovely stretch of road but a festival doesn't belong on a ROAD.
You are a sensible smarty pants which I assume is why GlobalTV seems to come to you a lot for your opinion.

@garycalgary hahaha, all those motorists sure enjoy the nature, you know, driving 50+kph burning fossil fuels.
fucking rednecks like you are the reason i'm moving to Toronto.

How exciting! A streetfest on Memorial will go a long way to counter Calgary's reputation as a "no-fun" city.
