No, it's completely different. People with Dissociative Identity Disorder typically undergo some sort of intense trauma that they can't deal with, and it fractures their personality. They often don't know of each other, and black out while the other personality is functioning. So one personality will take on the harsh mental pain while the other struggles to keep its innocence.
