this is nice to create experimental storys. to be serious, nothing happens in this way ;) the story: to imagine: the robot have an artifical mental processor who make decisions about human traits of there reality imaginary. the location: the space, question wy: the robot belongs to his hardware beyond the lost tool from the challenger mission. on earth this typ of machine runs since 1942. to be continued
nice hair there. however robonaut looks like he's gotten into car accident and cut in half. not that i'm asking it to have legs which is unnecessary. but is robonaut even necessary ?
start of a horror movie? a space station crew has an experimental robot sent up. Things go wrong and the hero of the story (cady coleman, the last person alive) has to dramatically blow the robot out of the airlock which, for some reason looks no different to the emergency escape on an airliner.
The robot thing is kinda cool. I wonder what it's supposed to do? If they said in the video, I might have missed it because I just skimmed the material. lol. =)
this is incredible, but scary at the same time.. lets hope we dont have a terminator in the next 10 years because man decided to play God. on the plus side, it would be cool if we had a real life MegaMan X :D.... but then.. thered be mavericks too.... nevermind..
how does power cooler unit work in space as on earth fan cooler on computer pak is reliant on staying below 45 degs ? in space no wind or air does this mean no heat to ?
@sungodschannel well obviously there is air inside of the shuttle that they are in and there is gravity, but not alot of it so there is definitely heat
@purplemunshkin They have a "task board" with switches and straps and handrails and dials and other typical space station hardware interfaces on it that they will use to train Robonaut to handle and manipulate. After they build up a "repetoire" of behaviors and actions in Robonaut they will start to apply those behaviors to actual tasks on the station, like cleaning surfaces and air filters and other "boring busywork" and let the human astronauts focus on space station science.
I like the joke when they unbox the robot. For a moment I thought they had accidently brought up the worng box, lol. I think April fools day came early to the station.
Poor Dude, was locked im that thing for so,so,long..0 Gravity. You guys are too lucky..I wish ii was up there Floting going 14,500MPH.And See a Wonderful SunSet every 45min. Go Get them Robo! This is Major History Taking Place.
Make sure to register it and save the warranty card. If I were up there I'd glue some googly eyes on him, maybe a pair of Groucho glasses with the nose and moustache for some extra personality.
More people should buy American. Toyota built millions of cars that could have killed their occupants while GM helped NASA build a robot for space. Take that Asimo.
@Hyper92793 Goddamnit, no we aren't. The end of the earth is not coming for 40 million years, when the sun swells to a red giant and incinerates the earth; of course, we could be gone by then. I've yet to find any reason to trust the Mayans or the bible at all, and the Mayans didn't even predict a 2012 doomsday, their calender resets. Such thinking is bad for you. You'll still be here in 2013, if you don't die in a normal way(statistically, you probably won't) like a car wreck.
@NB5BHVL Ok, I want you to prove right now that there are no dragons living in Texas.
Because you know what? You can't. Some of them are invisible. Some of them can see really far and can hide under rocks when they see people coming, and their scales prevent photography.
The world is not going to decide to cease to exist, dumbfuck. It doesn't have a brain and isn't capable of thought or decision. It will burn up in about 4 billion years, from the sun, but not 2.
@Ironybleeds This technology is intended to be an extra hand on the space station, that can be controlled remotely from inside the station or from earth. Space walks (going outside the station) are expensive and they take a long time to plan. With Robonaut 2, or future versions of a similar robot, NASA could place "hands", that use normal human tools, outside of the station within minutes/hours of a malfunction rather than the days/weeks it would take to prep a human space walk.

1. Stop talking about her hair, the video is about the robot.
2. The robot isn't going to kill humans any time soon, unless we find some more oil we want.
3. Don't repeat a comment or opinion that we've all heard before, it's annoying.
