It would REALLY help if you became a fan on my music website. Debut album to be released soon! Thanks for adding me as a fan and helping me in negotiating shows with venue managers :)

REVERBNATION daht com, search Jason Mabie, and become a fan. Thank you so much!

    GO BEARS!

    J Mab ;)

    Octet 2001-04

  • This is where the Warblers got their sound from.... Except these guys are way better.

(BUT THAT TOTALLY EXCLUDES DARREN CRISS. He could totally do this type of amazing stuff...)

  • I love every songs u guys perform! definitely the best acappella I ever seen! u should consider a come back~

  • is this University Of Cincinnati? sorry if im wrong, but what university is it?

  • @guitarking10000 UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA BERKELEY!!!! WOOHOOO

  • glee could learn from this genious accapella version.

  • I like his voice a lot!

  • That was beautiful. Thank you very much.

  • i made a playlist just for these guys......u are awesome, and i wish guys at my school appreciated music this much

  • THese guys have to make a comeback! they're amazing

  • my favourite beatles song perfectly covered. this was beautiful

  • Beautiful. They should have a comeback.

  • Almost as good as Straight No Chaser from University of Indiana, but not quite. Good job guys!!

  • @isurveil That's funny, because the 1998 UC Men's Octet beat out SNC in the ICCA's (a collegiate a cappella competition.) and this group is the only one to have won the ICCA's twice.

  • the most beautiful thing i've ever heard by an all-male acapella.

  • That's fantastic! Thank you!

  • You know what's sad? It was obvious who did NOT know the song. When one of the guys started to whistle, some people started laughing, not knowing that's an actual part of the song. -_____-

  • @manhater101 I'm sure they rehearsed this song many many times, so I doubt he just started to whistle out of nowhere. I believe they thought it added a nice touch to the song. I mean, do you really think they would have the harmony so perfect? I doubt anybody would just "know" the progression, much less what part of the chord to sing... It was quite obviously rehearsed....

  • i must say i love the beatles i mean i LOOOOVVVVEEEEEE them and i feel that these guys did fantastic and if paul mcartney saw this he would be proud

  • YAY ASIAN ! (:

  • I would pay to see them in concert! (HINT,HINT Boy's)

  • @bcmartin18 They did a live stream from Hawaii which was great. It was posted on YouTube. Just search for the Octet and look for the most recent uploads. 7 guys in Hawaiian shirts = Super Awesome!

  • What key did they sing this in?

  • this is one of my favorite songs ever, you do it well

  • This is so beautiful! <3

  • WHATTTTT u guys dont preform no mmo!!!!?

aww man i discovered u guys where alive and me and my sis wantsed t g see u guys

    :(

  • omg i think i just fell in love with him and his voice

  • why did they stop preforming ?? someone tell me please

  • @mywolf75 they graduated. Actually, there is currently a UC Men's Octet. This group has been performing since 1948, but the group member change. The '02-'03 Octet recently had a reunion in Hawaii, and someone posted a video of a short live stream concert they did. Just search for the UC Men's Octet's most recent uploads.

  • @monkfan72 i know they was preforming on school .. but after school the UC 03 are the best i wonder why they stop preforming they have to make this as a job for life :)

  • What a soft and sweet voice...

  • wow

  • this is fucking incredible

  • Beatleees, UC... Oh Gosh I loved iiit! a gente poderia ter isso no Brasil!

  • Comment removed

  • Awesome!!! High quality!!

I can imagine how long have you been rehearsing!

Congratulations from Maringá (city), Paraná (state), Brazil (country)!!

  • wow that was amazing

  • I'm kind of happy glee is bringing back singing and real talent to school culture secondary and tertiary.

  • Hey do you have sheet music for this? Please message me back

  • why aren't these guys singing togheter anymore?

    oh yeah...they are americans.

  • @punkpunkkid Not sure what being American has to do with it, but they're not singing together anymore because this was a college group which they participated in as an extracurricular activity, and they're not in college any more. You may also be interested to know that the UC Men's Octet was established in 1948, and different members of this same group are singing today...and these guys are getting together this summer to sing in Hawaii.

  • oooo where in hawaii?

  • This is so epic.

  • the best batch of uc men's octet

  • you think the dislikes are there by default? coz i really cant see what's wrong in this video.. these guys are AWESOME!!!

  • @thearkanite I think the dislikes are jellus Beatles fans who think that covers are never good enough.

  • This group can get away with the jokes because their harmony dominates.

  • damn! i have been looking for this song on spotify for like an hour... now i know why i couldn't find a version i liked! it was this one i had in mind! crap..

sooo, any suggestions for another version? :P

  • @enigmadragonwings The Foo Fighters murder it if you're interested? :D Grohl's gravelly voice sounds good on it though.

  • @bentricky yeah.. it would be good.. if he could open his mouth :P

  • Paul would be proud.

  • man i love this. almost every video they do they find a way to joke around with a song, have a lot of fun with it and get the crowd really into it. its something like this that proves that they dont need a joke to kick ass on stage =P (oh btw, i'm not hating on the jokes, i LOVE em, this just kinda proves they dont really need it, but it def helps lol)

  • wooooo I got goose bumps. great cover of a great song

  • omg amazing like the other performances true talent i am a huge fan

  • 名曲!

  • The chords are a little out of tune maybe 5 or 7 cents off but overall verry great

  • goosebumps. goosebumps.

  • This song reminds me of Public Enemies, and therefore, I cry. :')

  • Gooseebumps.

  • These guys haven't been "screwed over" as previous people have posted! They are all smart and talented men who went to an elite university to study various fields which have given them outstanding careers. Why can't they be outstanding amateur singers, and professionals in other fields as well?

  • Fantastic!

  • Well done! Great job!

  • OMG AMAZING VOICE!

  • Wow! This is one of my favorite songs of all time, and I am just floored at how beautifully it is done here. Bravo!

  • a capella & beatles = awesome!

  • This guy is amazing...

  • i think kenny is the only one from this group that didn't ever solo does anybody know what songs kenny sings solo on?

  • @onemanband0101

    he sings virtual insanity.

  • @onemanband0101 Kenny solos in "You Gotta Go".

  • Beautiful harmonies and such a wonderful song to sing.

  • really these guys dont perform anymore..? it really sucks knowing that..

  • @jannboy326 Welll, the UC Men's Octet still perform (the group has been around since 1948) however, the members change, usually on a yearly basis.

  • OH DAMN. 48? I thought it was 78!

  • thanks for the info monkfan, yeah but this particular batch was just perfection...

  • Not these specific guys, but there's a 2009 Octet. It's been tradition for damn near 30 years to have an Octet. There's plenty of footage, go nuts!

  • @Muglez14 61 years, actually.

  • @jannboy326 They will soon. I'll bring a camera.

  • @MsMabie236 dude! ur jason mabie! big big fan bro!!

  • @jannboy326 MsMabie is Jason's lady.

  • @monkfan72 oh hehe.. i got overzealous

  • @jannboy326 Yes, I am the lady.

  • @jannboy326 I completely agree.. I wonder if the current octet is any good

  • @lilbluange1 I was watching some of their videos and looking at the dates, and this year's octet seems really good.

  • @jannboy326 yea from what i understand they have a completely knew group every year or something... its sad :( ive seen a few years though on youtube through searching... these guys are higher then elite :D

  • @jannboy326 yea, it's just how collegiate acapella goes. Every year people graduate and new people join the groups. The repetoires change too. It's the same in all college acapella groups. UCLA Awaken, USC Reverse Osmosis, BYU Noteworthy, CSUN Acasola, UC Men's Octet.. different groups every year. Some years are better than others.

  • @duhbell The Octet's repertoire changes somewhat, but these guys have 40 or more standards that have been passed down from year to year beginning in 1948.

  • @jannboy326 Well, though we don't practice all the time together like the old days, or have shows on campus, the 7 of us were recently hired to perform at a wedding in Hawaii- Maui to be specific. It was really great! And yes, we've all moved on to great careers. Rick is married. Jason (me) will be married in September :)

  • @gobears236 Hey Jason, You should consider singing to your bride at your wedding! I sang at my wedding (to the groom). Couldn't let anyone else know about it except the minister, my mom, and the guitarist though, because I wasn't sure I'd be able to do it, or if I would be choked up or something. But you're probably less of a crybaby than I was, anyway.

  • people with*

  • haha windsormountain you are so dead on its not even funny. wayy to many people get looked past because of snobby kids who get their fame through the disney channel... aka jonas bros. etc. maybe im being naive by saying snobby but people will a lot of talent who deserve recognition get screwed over and it sucks.

  • @BpBuck15 In what way have these young men been screwed over?

  • because they dont get very good recognition... look at the total views on their page and then go to someones like miley cyrus or the jonas brothers. im not knocking the octet, they are awesome! im just saying that they have way more talent and they arent recognized nearly as much as someone like miley or the jonas bros. i guess screwed over isnt the right term but it isnt fair to these guys who have way more talent

  • @BpBuck15 I agree - much more talent than most of the pop/rock stars performing now. But, the fact that their version of Bohemian Rhapsody is coming up on 2 million views and still going strong IS amazing considering this version of the group hasn't performed togehter is 6 years. This is basically a

glimps into an amazing a cappella performance. I'm sure that any one of them could be world class performers, however, they seem to have chosen other vocations.

  • also, if you want them to be more well known, tell people about them. I show Octet vids to most of my friends.

  • Holy fuck. 0.0

  • why are no talent pussies like the jonas brothers and justin bieber making million while the uc mens octet remain as relatively unknown? there's no justice in the music industry.

  • @windsormountain I believe that part of the 'injustice' might be due to what the Octet are. They're a Spirit group for Berkeley. However, at Berkeley and in the a cappella community they are rock stars. :)

  • @monkfan72 i mean that it seems like the best musicians out there are the ones who never become famous

  • @windsormountain I see your point and agree with you. I just think it's awesome that they do it because they love it.

  • Great voices, really good. :)

  • Great voices, really good. :)

  • Wow these guys are amazing. They're so creative with how they arrange things and who sings at the head :] beautiful take on the song <3

  • Comment removed

  • Amazing. Nothing else to say.

  • Such a smooth voice. I would never get tired of listening to this.

  • Pretty !!

  • An a cappella chestnut, but this is the most wonderful a cappella rendition that I have ever heard. Simply superb.

  • king singers version is also excellent.

  • Absolutely beautiful!!!

  • asian pride

  • amazing.

  • Great.

  • This is a very well done version of the Kings' Singers arrangement.

  • Except it's not a King Singers arrangement. The Octet do their own arrangements. It's close, though.

  • Best acapella and cover ever

  • The whistle in the middle was perfect.

  • i love you guys so much. ima singer but a kid. been goin to a music school for a couple years now and they just amde made a young men's chorus that im in. actually we got 7 guys too haha. i hope we're as good as you guys

  • goosebumps

  • J'adore.. De très belles voix.

  • such a smooth voice. beautiful to listen to.

  • This is amazing.

    The vocals and everything.

The whistling just completes it lol.

  • Man, I wish that guy would teach me how to whistle like that. I always thought I was a good whistler, but I don't even compare to him. That's incredible!

  • Wunderbar!!

  • ¡FELICIDADES!

  • Ben Sae-Tang is a minister, Jerome is a free-lance photographer, Kenny is a physicist (or something of that ilk), Jason, I believe is still doing some performing (and drops-in here occasionally - gobears), I think some one is in advertising, one of them may be in psychology (not sure on that one) and I forget completely what the others are doing.

  • after graduating from ucb, what happened to u guys? anyone among your still performing like this?

  • Something I would be very interested in, as well.

    - Mani
