this is just a theory i made up, tell me if i am wrong:

-the camera in my cellphone can see infrared, i tested it by pointing a tv remote towards it.

- a tv remote uses infrared, i already said that

now, i tried to make the tv remote act as some sort of flashlight and used my cellphone to see, but it din't work. is this because the infrared from the remote is not strong enough? or is the camera not good enough to use it here?

@Helium37, no, it's the very same concept as a tv remote. And try as you might, you ain't gonna see that either. Unless of course the "people your scaring" happen to be pointing some sort of camera at you. The naked eye cannot detect IR light.
