When you like a band, what makes you like them? In most cases the singer right. Well thats why all the singers after SP fit in Journey so well, cuase they idolized the SP Journey. From all the interviews, appears that there were enough hurt feelings and legal agreements that both sides wouldn't feel comfortable.Also, Perry said in interviews after FLOSM (the album) that he would never put out a record just because someone said it was time-that he had to have something he needed to say. Doubt if he would want to be just a nostalgia act, which Journey seems to be now. Just my educated guesses, though!

Try the song "ANYWAY" on the For the Love of Strange Medicine at the end he hits a note that is unbelievably high that not even the last 3 replacements for him could even come close. He has not lost is voice it has just changed like yours did when you were a kid then an adult. He still can get up their but it does sound different.

He knew he could not keep-up with that. Having said that, he was great. For age wise, AP sounds better than SP now. Even in 1991 at the same age at 41, AP has an edge. Two good singers in a totally different times. Taste in music and singer preference, it does matter.

But i heard it again since they revived their band with Arnel as lead, (still sounds so girly to me though). But now i can appreciate it, am older. Noone sells records anymore, where as in the 80s, people bought records like crazy. So you can't really compare the ammount of sold albums in the 80s with todays industry. Keep on rockin' tho. You had better look at Neal Schon on September 3, 2009 during the CBS concert. He had gained so much weight that he was not recognizable. Does that make him less of a guitar player? No one is saying that Arnel can't sing. But one can't dispute facts. Perry isn't just 'another frontman'. He is the only one that has given them that special chemistry of songwriting ability coupled with vocals that made them commercially successful. None of their albums before or after him did anything in chart sales. You can't count Revelation-half of it was covers of his songs-none of the new songs have made it on the charts at all! Imagine the Beatles trying to replace Lennon just to tour!

Herbert has an axe to grind-Perry never disses him yet after more than 10 years, Herbert can't stop trashing Perry. Herbert's interviews are totally illogical! How come in 1996 his voice was so beautiful that Trial by Fire went to #3 and they were nominated for an Emmy for the first time? Listen to the 2004 or 2005 vocals with David Pack. Beautiful! Herbert also said in the 2008 interview that Augeri may have been caught 'faking' the singing in some fashion onstage with a hard drive-unlike SP!

From all the interviews, appears that there were enough hurt feelings and legal agreements that both sides wouldn't feel comfortable.Also, Perry said in interviews after FLOSM (the album) that he would never put out a record just because someone said it was time-that he had to have something he needed to say. Doubt if he would want to be just a nostalgia act, which Journey seems to be now. Just my educated guesses, though!

Try the song "ANYWAY" on the For the Love of Strange Medicine at the end he hits a note that is unbelievably high that not even the last 3 replacements for him could even come close. He has not lost is voice it has just changed like yours did when you were a kid then an adult. He still can get up their but it does sound different.

he lost his voice from 1991 then came back in 1994 but then it was not the same. Album can be recorded piece by piece just like in shooting films.Touring was scared him. He knew he could not keep-up with that. Having said that, he was great. For age wise, AP sounds better than SP now. Even in 1991 at the same age at 41, AP has an edge. Two good singers in a totally different times. Taste in music and singer preference, it does matter.

What are you talking. Steve doesnt have an attitude. If he hadnt left the band I believe he would have had a total breakdown. He needed to rest.
Alot of shit was going on in his life also like his mom. I also think that his
breakup with his girlfriend that also took a long time to get over. He's 60 years old now has no family to show for it. He needed this time to grieve. For Some people it takes a long time. I agree with you Star.

Its a SHAME this Band never put themselves AFTER there fans. I mean, we are the one that created STARS out of them, in the first place. Even when "It is" there right to go there own way, the left-overs are bitter and selfish.
