@forwardmover You don't have to be an expert economist to see all the damages produced by neo liberalism. Even economists like Paul Krugman are trying to suggest another way out. which doesn't have to be labeled as marxist. keynesian, etc. You reason only by an ideological point of view. The important thing is finding a way out of the crisis and above all riduce the gap between rich and poor which unfortunately is increasing instead.

@68generation How is this for ideological? As Communist China migrates to a more Capitalist market based economy, it is growing at 5-10% per year. If you have saved your capital you can invest in Agbank, thru Goldman Sachs or other China business partners. Socialist children should learn Mandarin so they can soon get a job, at least cleaning Chinese homes. Just google on Agbank China.

True capitalism, in any ethical sense, has not been practiced since the late 1960's. This is not a typical segue from Capitalism. It is deliberate inculcation from the corporate elites. Duopolistic industries IS capitalism now. Marx prediced the concentration and centralization of capital, Hilferding analysed the fusion of financial and industrial capital and Lenin and Bakhunin put it in a world context. The days of free competition ended a long time ago, capitalism is a dynamic system not a static set of free market relations straight out of a textbook. Monopoly is where capitalism is at today but it is still capitalism.

Most means of production are private property. Most prices are regulated by markets. Most contracts are concluded after free negotiation between property owners. Therefore, the current system is capitalism.
Between 1949 and 1989, communism was not achieved in CE Europe because: (1) communism is not an ideal state, it is a movement; (2) you probably refer to socialism, but neither that was attained, only state capitalism (nationalized capitalism).

Right, but that most part is problematic because "capitalism" is failing due to it's non-capitalist qualities. Duopolistic industries where there is no competition, only collusion, have gouged consumers to the point where they can't pay their mortgages, on which investors in the financial markets depend (mortgage backed securities). Marx prescribes to the idea of historicism, that history has a beginning, middle, and end. Communism is that end; socialism is the movement.

According to Marx, Communism is the end of history; it is a state, not a movement. Many people argue that what happened in CE Europe is proof that communism doesn't work. I am addressing them; I know that communism was never achieved and I agree that socialism was never achieved, so neither of them can really be attacked citing historical evidence.
