I think people misunderstand that in this game there are no "celestials."

There are only "infernals." People just worship one as a "celestial" just because of his benevolent actions.

One demon basically turned "good" towards humans, filling the lack of "law" to the demons' "chaos."

The only reason the enemies parallel with crusaders is because they were put in that armor to begin with by Angelo Agnus (who, himself *SPOILER* is just a big demon himself)

Nothing but Demons Vs Demons, this game.

@RyuKaguya It looks more appealing when a huge tower, skyscraping into the heavens (metaphor for really high altitude) opens a gate to hell thats even higher up. The setting had nothing to do with church related crap, its just much more appealing and adds to the depth of the game itself. The dark atmosphere, the moon glowing in the sky, the dark clouds, the colossal tower reaching the sky, and the demon portal opening just beyond those already unreachable limits. Depth, perception, atmosphere.

All sorts of references to Epic literature aswell, such as Dante's Inferno etc. Quite interesting thing to note.

I played DMC 3 before reading Dante's Inferno. If you have read it, you'll know that Hell is like Dante's neighborhood, Purgatory is the Temi-ni-gru, and the demon world is Paradise. There are also refrences to the monsters in the game, such as Geryon.
