The Spathi are one of the awesomest races in Star Control 2, and one of the most beloved. They might just be my favourite, although it's hard to pick with so many races available in SC.
Unfortunately they didn't get off to well in the talky version far as the voice went.

I have to respectfully disagree with you on the voices. I actually enjoyed them quite a bit and thought they added a lot to the game's atmosphere.
Except the Utwig. Oh god, the Utwig. Jesus Christ, the Utwig. The Utwig voices were just... good lord.
The fact that I can honestly say I prefer the Utwig of SC3 to the Utwig of SC2 really says something.

I'm with you there, if they made a Star Control 3, no matter what they did with the voices, it'd be better then the Utwig. >o>

I've downloaded UQM source for debian a few days and added the voices pack... you should listen fwiffo talking! this is the best of the game! i couldn't stop laughing when i heared by first time :P

FWIFFO! Oh god, he's my favorite spathi captain. I don't even care that he killed like the entire landing party, he's so much fun! I only wish you could talk to him more often, like with the Talking Pet. I used to use his spathi Eluder over the others (once I got the Spathi to go along with me). Do you have the Spathi High Council conversation? That one's pretty good too.
