Ishinabe-san didnt get to participate as much as sakai, but he did help in the 2000th dish episode on the french team. Komei's most memorable battle was the one in beijing(or shanghai i think)

Talking about ICA is blasphemy to alot of ICJ purists obviously. Many feel that Bobby Flay brought the about the end of ICJ, and most are not fond of his cocky attitude. Even though I try to embrace both, I still feel ICJ is vastly superior to ICA. Kaga, Sakai, Chen.. they made this show amazing.

The new Iron Chef is terrible compared to this. I remember staying up for this battle since the show ended in 1999 because I loved the chairman's flamboyance, the dubbing (silly, but that's the charm), and of course the Iron Chefs too. I wish they brought it back to Food Network instead of the other one.

I think he wanted Morimoto, but he was already slated to re-match with Flay. The producers probably told him he was to battle Sakai. The Iron Chef is pre-determined. That is why during the show they would have stock footage of the IC's rising, and then having the camera focus solely on the chosen opponent while avoiding the other two, who are rarely on the platforms.
