SAS are highly trained as well. Their courage and tenacity are something to be respected. One thing I find interesting about the SAS is the level of training they endure. They actually receive a longer period of training than most Navy Seals. Maybe not as great, but their final exam to become operators is something of legend. Only other test comparable I have seen is the PJ's.
I've got to disagree here, theres no way that the rangers and the green berets can be placed on the same level as delta, SAS, SBS, SEAL's etc, these groups seem to have more intensive training a more difficult selection process, with a much greater secrecy surrounding operations.
The rangers and berets are special forces in the same way that the royal marines are special forces, extremely well trained and well equiped, but not on the same level as the SAS, seals etc.
I see people arguing "who's better" on all of these vids, but most arguing have never been in the military. I was in the U.S. Army for 10 yrs. and a Ranger for 7 yrs. Rangers are misunderstood. We are not Special Forces, we are Special Operations (I was 75 REG.) SEALs, SAS, and SF work in small teams(4-6 men) and groups rarely exceeding 32 men. Rangers are specialized infantry. We specialize in capturing and defending critical locations: airports, factories, hotels, bridges. We are not S.F.!
navyseal1979: a Ranger platoon is the same as most infantry: 40 men; 4 squads of 10 men. A company is 160 men, 4 platoons. This is at full strength. At one point my company had 112 Rangers, but we cycled in some new boys and got close to full strength. We maintained a high level of deployable soldiers, but it was never 100%(no unit is). Some of our guys were injured training, others were PT flags (a disgrace for a Ranger), and some had health issues, i.e. a much loved SFC had colon cancer.

FACT; Did you know that the US DELTA force was created by charles beckwith who based delta force closely on the one and only father of special forces the SAS. the SAS has been around since WW2 and trains and advises all if not most other countries, inc the USA on SF tactics and training. Remember the Irainian embassy seige 1980/1?.Check the History and Facts if you want to argue. Dont compare the Brits to any US SF unit cos it wont work.
