People I love to say this to you all,but leaving it up to your imagination will not be better than Ridley Scott's imagination put on the big screen. Dip shits.
Icant w8 for Prometheus, Hollywood movies hav been quite standard poor even lately. Judging by the tralier this looks like a very solid production. And I hav faith in Ridley hes a great director, one of the last next to Spielberg, who really know how to make a proper film. I hope they'll b a sequel too, but as long as they dont carry it on to link to Alien1, cus its not needed. They shud just go in another direction now once Prometheus is out.
Showing the space jockey and Alien origin would ruin the franchise (not as much as Resurrection and AvP 1,2) But Ridley Scott doesn't make those mistakes.
Alien 3 was good, Ridley Scot wanted Ripley dead in Alien anyway. Its a shame they cast Elizabeth Winstead in The Thing. They should have used her in a story between Alien and Aliens as Ripleys daughter Becoming a Space aviation officer on a quest for answers as to her mother and the Nostromo is.
In the bonus materials of the special edition Alien DVD, director Ridley Scott has expressed the opinion that a film exploring the backstory of the Space Jockey would be an interesting new direction for the series to take.
Whales have sex in the same way other mammals do. Sort of. The basic anatomy is the same except that the penis is rectractile; held inside the body until needed, then it emerges from the genital slit which is on the underside of the caudal peduncle Likewise, the testes are internal, which of course presents some huge problems in terms of cooling, and cetaceans have developed some remarkable counter-current mechanisms for cooling the genitals internally.
Space-jockeys created the aliens as weapons and they turned against them. Because aliens steal some DNA from their hosts, they resembled the jockeys a bit. The only thing that can hurt them apart from projectiles is obviously a fire (Prometheus?). BTW I also heard that the jockeys race was very arrogant and played gods. But we will see what the truth is in the movie. Can't wait!!!
I heard that the space ship was actually a bomber used to wipe out entire planets, using the eggs. The ship would drop the eggs on the planet and the aliens would kill everything on it. The space-jockeys would then transform the planet so they can live on it. However, a human crew met them and something happened. One bomber landed on one planet and the aliens went loose. Only the remaining eggs survived and were found by humans in the Alien movie.
@Vebinz I agree that I really don't want to know where the Aliens come from. If the rumours are true about their origins, and that they are going to show this, then I really won't be happy. The mystery is what makes the alien creature so fantastic. I'd disagree though, I think Scott has done more than two great films. Yes Alien and Blade Runner are the stand outs, but I think Legend and Gladiator are great in their own rights. I have to admit there are still films of his I have to see!
Scott joked w/Lindeloff at comic-con about how Lindeloff needs to(paraphrasing) "get busy" on a sequel script for PROMETHEUS. If this is genuine, then this film will serve as a start to a new series of films, regardless if Scott or Lindeloff return
And what's got into Scott? Returning to 2 of his classics for further adventures? Maybe its his age, knowing he doesn't have that many more films left in him. Also, he has never had a franchise/series like most of his peers. He's always "one and done". Maybe PROMETHEUS and BRUNNER2 is a swan song for his final years.
@scrambuild He talked for years about revisiting Alien in terms of a prequel. Probably realised that he best get his skates on. Blade Runner is a bit of a surprise though...
@HorrorOfMike...if Scott, who is 73 years old methinks, has now become enamored with 3D, then I'm onboard. I'm fine with 3D especially when filmed in 3D. Honestly, my main concern w/PROMETHEUS whether its R or PG13. I want a hard R, no catering to a more mainstream audience w/PG13. But I do realize filmmakers can be more graphic and violent w/PG13 today than even some R rated films from 30 years ago.
@scrambuild Scott said he was filming two versions of the film, an R rated version and a PG-13. The studio will decided which one to go with. I hope they go with the former. As for 3D, I genuinely believe it is a novelty. I'll do a video soon and state my case ;)
While I would love a new Alien film since the franchise lost its way so much I gotta be a little honest and say I'm nervos but it does have great credentials and the fact that Scott is onboard (first Sci-Fi since Blade Runner) is mind blowing for us fan boys!
Nervous for this but also quite excited! Good video as always Mike!
I've heard Scott say the film will be 'gritty and tough...' and also read the studio (20th Fox is it) wants a PG-13 rating(US). I saw something talking about the film's exploration of origins of races of beings, creatures, and also of planets too. Looks like Scott is going to make another 'big' statement, as in Bladerunner or the original Alien. That would be cool. I don't need to see an 'alien'. Of course, I count 2001:A Space Odyssey as a horror film, due to the topics it covers. Good on Scott
@23penguins32 I totally agree about 2001! There are also some very creepy scenes in 2010. They are filming both a PG-13 cut and an R-rated cut, so we'll just have to wait and see mate.
@HorrorOfMike Yes, there are in 2010 as well, I agree. My idea of horror is sort of anything that shakes the foundations or pulls the rug out from under. Yeah, I read that too. My thought was we're going to see a cut for the cinema and have to wait for a dvd version of the director's cut. I'll wait for that, gods willing :)
@Blkglssjw Yes ! Kingdom of Heaven is on my top ten post. Nothing like Mike's here, it's a bit more of a list of favourites I own on dvd. I've watched Kingdom of Heaven more than 15 times. I actually prefer it, in Scott's canon, to Bladerunner. I think it's great. Glad you mentioned it. Thanks

I think Lindeloff is smart enuff to avoid the pitfalls of "prequelitis". I love the first two ALIEN films, but I don't have to see an alien at all in this film. The whole aesthetic and universe created by Scott with ALIEN lends itself to other NON-ALIEN tales set there. Growing up, I always imagined BRunner and Alien set in the same futuristic universe. Have faith...Scott will not screw this up.
@scrambuild I really hope you're right. I'm a big fan of Lindeloff and Scott, so I really hope they can pull it off. I completely agree that the universe as established in the original Alien film has plenty of room for exploration, I just wish it wasn't in 3D ;) Thanks for taking the time to comment :)
I'm slightly jaded on Prometheus. I have the sneaking feeling that we WILL see answers to stuff that was once a mystery, spoiling the mysticism and some of the charm of the original film where we know NOTHING about the Space Jockey because it's better that way.
Like you say It's better to WANT to know, than to actually know. a sense of mystery is always the way to work with movies
Congrats on the 100 vids! Here's to 100 more, and here's to 200 more subscribers! :D
@Angerlevel Thanks for your support, it means a lot :) I agree that if they do anything which infers upon the original film, I'll be really disappointed. The mystery surrounding the Alien is everything!
I think you make an excellent point in that it should leave us with more questions, something I really think it will try to do (from what I've read about it so far). Just the title, 'Prometheus', seems to imply that it could bring up a lot of questions regarding science vs. god, playing god, etc.
With Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender, Charlize Theron, Idris Elba, Guy Pearce, and Patrick Wilson all set to star in it, this is probably the film I'm anticipating the most right now.

Definitely agree about the sense of mystery. It's just more powerful leaving it to the imagination.

I never liked the idea of xenomorphs taking on attributes of their hosts. It seems to be a bad evolutionary trait.
Also, the idea of then being biological weapons of some kind, artificial, is also bad. Ruins their mysterious deathly "evil" persona.
I personalkly have no hope for the film. Scott did two great movies only, and now he's determined to go back and exploit them.

More likely he realized that no matter what other movies he's done, he'll always be remembered for these two.
So like alot of has-beens, he's going back to them for attention.
Screw him, I say.
