I don't know exactly where these gentlemen fit into the puzzle, but you can better believe that at least 20% of American's (if not more) are of the opinion that it should instead be that of several top level government officials (both current and former) being led into a court room in shackles.
As far as why this is a civil trial? My only guess is that so the U.S. Government does not then have to assume responsibility for the excecution of these Middle Eastern scapegoat/puppets of theirs.

I was thinking more in the lines of the inmates emulating their favorite horror flick (ex. Saw, Hostel, any gory movie you can imagine) and torturing those evil bastards that thought it was cool to kill 2,973 innocent people for no reason at all.
All terrorists should be fucking killed, but the sole fact that these motherfuckers carried out plans that ended thousands of innocent lives makes me want their deaths to be excruciatingly painful and slow.

If the courtroom holding their trial is reading this: Don't kill the 9/11 hijackers... That's exactly what they want. It provides them relief from any kind of suffering they will receive in prison by both guard and inmate alike. Let them suffer in prison for the rest of their lives, but don't put them in solitary... Put them in Genpop in a prison whose population will be mostly EXTREMELY patriotic Americans that will show those evil, sick, twisted monsters how they REALLY feel about 9/11.

I don't know exactly where these gentlemen fit into the puzzle, but you can better believe that at least 20% of American's (if not more) are of the opinion that it should instead be that of several top level government officials (both current and former) being led into a court room in shackles.
As far as why this is a civil trial? My only guess is that so the U.S. Government does not then have to assume responsibility for the excecution of these Middle Eastern scapegoat/puppets of theirs.

Furthermore, historically mankind is easily mislead. Whether these men are guilty or not, as long as "someone" is being punished for the crime, many American citzens will be satisfied enough to drop the notion of any inside conspiracy. Partially snuffing-out a rapidly growing movement.
Whatever the reason, you can better believe that there are several underlying issues for this decision.
Their "think tank people" must have worked long and hard for it take them 8 years to come up with this!

am i happy that these men are getting a trial? yes because its the way the judicial system should work.
do i think its going to be a fair trial? definitely not, jurors will be from new york and one or two may live in the county of Manhattan or there is the chance that a juror may have lost someone in the attacks or knows someone who did.
should the trial be held in New York? if it was held anywhere else, say middle america, none of them would get a fair trial, In DC, possibly, probs not in NY

We are already at risk even the trials are taken to any other place you think of. The suspects are under tight security; i fail to understand how that will cause a terror risk in NY. Arguement againist the trials in Newyork is weak.

the World trade center more likely collapsed from the 767 hitting them than from fire because the jet fuel also known as kerosene would have poured outside the buildings & everywhere else Not remaining In one place for enough time for It to get hot enough to bean the heavy Steel beams. you're wrong. Officially, Building 7 fell from fires, NOT damage from debris. Even though only 6 floors were on fire. Even though the fireproofing worked and ZERO columns were even warm enough to be weakened. Even though it's never ever happened before. Even though the fire was fueled by ordinary office furnishings only. Even though there's no evidence that fire caused collapse.
