  • I assume at the end he realizes that he can't just magically possess this car - he's going to have to go out and buy it.

Unless he drove it off the cliff during his fantasy drive, in which case he's actually dead and he no longer needs a car. (Yeah, I know that in the film that this scene originally came from, the driver just crawled out of the VW unharmed, but no way am I believing that!)

  • I think this is actually a '53 model bug, note the oval window dash which started in '53.

  • @LeviMan2001 VW at that time had no "real" model year, they made "running changes" as new features came in, or, until old parts were used up; thus a 52 could have some 53 parts, or, vice versa (Adding to the confusion of any modern VW restorer); my source for this info is the VW history "Small Wonder" ; it's now out of print but, I'm sure you can find it on EBAY or in a used book store, it is THE deffinative VW Beetle history

  • they ACTUALLY crashed a perfectly good Split Beetle ?!!? (scene about missing a turn and falling down a cliff) :( maannn

  • I cried
