But yeah, I guess I will say that this wasn't that good back then. It's a lot better now than it used to be, though still got some things I need to fix up on the blighter.
@Xenomic Well holy shit that was an instantaneous response. I expected this to be abandoned/ignored. Well, if you wish to know what I think is wrong with it:
The backgrounds are bland, boring, and frankly, irritating to look at.
The characters dont particularly seem in character.
The battle is akward (you use effect sprites that are meant for screen opacities, where the black areas fade away, giving the sprite a glow. Green candlesticks are no good.)
Not much I can do about the backgrounds (if you're referring to the battle backgrounds). If it's the background for the SDM inside, then that's what's going to be fixed up later in beta4, since it just doesn't feel like the SDM to me at all.
It's not easy trying to keep the characters in-line with themselves half the time either. This is a common thing that's hard to do right.
I'm assuming you're referring to things like Photosynthesis. Not much I can do there unless use a different animation, which I very well might do. Wish 2k3 had something for opacity but alas, 2k3 is stupid with some things sadly...
As for Hope, she's not a self-insert (would be weird to have a female be a self-insert for a male no?). Unless original characters count as self-inserts, which there are some that are yes, but that's part of this story only so...
@Xenomic If you cant use the effects properly, dont use them at all.
And original character, self insert. Close enough. Nevertheless, there are so many touhou characters, that need for (several?) are quite unneeded. Though if you're gonna make one, make one that fits in. 'Hope' looks like she'd sooner fit in MMZ as a cyberelf.
You can change who the leader is by changing the order of the team in the menu, though that screws up some events as it'll look awkward having Reimu's portrait appear and speaking when you're like say...Cirno or something. lol
But don't worry! Later on in the game others become the main character~
wow this is so bad in so many ways, I dont even know where to start.
But since this is also couple years old, I dont think I need to list off the reasons.

You know, I'd like to see Reimu become controlled and be a boss...
Or at least we could be able to choose the leader...I think it'd be tiring seeing Reimu's sprite the whole time.

I like the use of Concealed the Conclusion music. Patchy's music from that game is so epic.
