@SuperAlexrios I don't know. I know several gay people and they seem pretty normal to me. But then I hang out with railfans, and my oldest son wears kilts and hangs out with Rebnaissance Scots reenactors, so what do I know about normal :-).
@SuperAlexrios That's right. One thing we learn as we go through life is that "normal" is relative. I know I don't have any normal relatives, and I bet you don't either. And that's all I'm going to say on this subject.
Thanks for making and providing this video! I'll be near San Francisco job-related in May for a week, looking forward and hoping to find the time to enjoy (not only) the famous F-line and to take some photos and video sequences as well.
I saw some Streets of San Francisco, 1969 in this. There was a picture of what used to be Woolworth on Powell and Market Streets. I know it's gone now. I miss shopping at that type of store.
San Francisco is stunning with its sheer variety!! You could see regular city buses, electric trolleybuses, street cable cars, historic trams, and the modern trams (LRT)and subway trains BART!! All kinds of electric public transit modes you could think of. SF is a must visit!
MAn I couldnt agree more! I wne tin 2006 and have never seen anyhting quite like this. The part at the end with the Milan trolley, that lovely engine sound melts my butter!
Since you didn't mention it, the PCC Street car fleet only resumed service about 10 years ago. I am uncertain when they were taken out of service; but my assumption is sometime in the early 80s when the subway went into service.
I didn't mention it because I didn't know it. I knew they had a "big event" about ten years ago where they debuted the off-line cars, but thought it was like an anniversary. Didn't realize it was a restoration of service. Thanks for that.
What happened was they took the cable cars out of service for a couple of years in the early 1980s for a major system rebuild. The city figured that this would disappoint tourists, so they started running the heritage trolleys on Market Street during the summer as a substitute. This was so popular that it continued after the cable cars came back - and in the mid-1990s it became a year round operation. Only a handful of the cars are actually from SF, most are from either Philly or Milan.
You just didn't look hard enough:-). Actually, I did them as a separate video Streets of San Francisco 2007: Cable Cars. Also, be sure to watch my Streets of San Francisco, 1969 if you haven't already seen it.
Thank you for posting this for those who are interested in learning about San Francisco's heritage and history, associated with the street cars. San Francisco has been reinventing itself after all these years. I will never forget the old San Francisco.
Great Trams! I'd love to visit there, i know my Mother and Sister have been there, and homosexuality is not normal, it is a disorder

I was there in the 80's, and rode the wooden Oporto single-trucker many, many times, I wonder what happened to it?

The thumping sound is the air compressor. The whining sound is the gears and traction motors. There's no engine.

I'm so glad to see all those refurbished PCCs! Why couldn't Philadelphia restore its great trolley lines?
JohnnyNW 3 years ago
hmmm... i love trains but i don't like trolleys or street cars or subways. they're just busses on steel wheels that ride on tracks

hmmm...that being the case, I can't help wondering why you would have bothered to watch something called Streets of San Francisco 2007: Streetcars.
