  • what is the difference between a firewire connection through an expresscard and a firewire connection you put directly in the computer?.... I just wonder, because expresscard-computers are much more cheap than a computer with integrated firewire ?? ..even if you pay 50 $ for an expresscard....

  • One solution is to use an express card.

  • oh my god! The guy at office depot said there was no such thing as a firewire adapter! Thank you soooo much!!!

  • do you know how to transfer dvr video from a cox box dvr system on to my pc?

  • FireWire is WAY better than USB! USB is a joke for real-time transfer.

  • man you have not a clue of what is firewire or how is really works--man get a job in a circus as a clown.i was watching an video USB 2.0 vs Firewire post it by a kid and without any question he really could explain what was firewire!!!ok go a head erase me spam me clown---lololol you look like krusty the clown---haha

  • Can not wait for firewire 3.2 (3,200) to come out.

  • FW have way better stability. Import video via USB? Oh hell no

  • You're an idiot. Why not buy a new cable for the same price.

  • note the plural in cables. dumbass. and firewire cables cost more than 20 dollars. they cost about double that

  • Isn't FireWire better? I mean, it's like 36 times facer right?

  • dude im so addicted to twitter its not fair haha

  • lol.. it seems like he has a spazz attack every 5 seconds and he talks so fast

lol first time I ever heard of firewire, thanks

  • I actually can find a cable 9-to-4 pin FW800 on eBay for $8.70 US. It's even free shipping. 6 foot long. So you don't need an $20 adapter. is. gd/vEO8 (I am not the seller, remove the space between the dot and "gd")

  • I much prefer FireWire (since it is up to 800mbps) and also less overhead. I have always preferred firewire to USB, but that may change with USB 3.0. Whatever is fastest is my favorite! =)

  • So I guess that means my favorite is eSATA right now? I'll call it a tie between FW 800 and eSATA.

  • Adapters for the win.

  • I'm sorry, but I can call it only in one name: TAGJAG BOOLSHIT. Hate these advert vids...

  • I'm fed up of tagjag crap :(

  • Or don't get a stupid fire wire adapter, you could just not use fire wire.

  • Wierless USB? i dont want that :/ then everyone can hack it instead of it being local

  • do they make an adapter to go from usb to fire wire (macbook) ;(

  • USB 2.0 is 480 Mbit/s (60 MB/s)

    FireWire 400 aka IEEE 1394 has 3 different speeds actual transfer rates are 98.304, 196.608, and 393.216 Mbit/s, i.e. 12.288, 24.576 and 49.152 megabytes per second.

    FireWire 800 aka IEEE 1394b is 786.432Mbit/s

Typical USB PC-hosts rarely exceed sustained transfers of 280 Mbit/s, with 240 Mbit/s being more typical. Likely due to USB's reliance on the host processor to manage low-level USB protocol, where F.W. delegates the same tasks to interface hardware.

  • Actaully, USB 2.0 Is 480Mbit not 400, were as IEEE 1394( Fire Wire) 400 is only 400Mbits, Fire wire 800 is roughly 780Mbits. So Fire wire 800 is faster then USB 2.0 sure. But USB also has a much higher device connectivity..... not that anyone would ever string together enough USB hubs to stick in 127 USB devices. you get the point regardless lol, USB 3.0 will make things so much better lol with speeds of 5Gbit, ah cant wait lol.

  • I like firewire because it is faster they should make a faster usb cables.

  • usb 3.0 will be faster than usb 2.0 and it will be out 2012 i think

  • I think it's 2010 they are aiming for

  • i wish then made firewire devices more then usb. usb is good for perpihails, but firewire has a better transfer speed

  • google it

  • eSATA>Firewire>USB 2.0

  • jinx shirt!!

  • which of is 800 the big one and 400 the small?

  • all cameras use firewirs pretty much. at least dv cams.

  • Fire wire does not need hubs

  • HI all .. do you no how to install windows xp on external HDD' .. im using mac mini.. my mac hdd almost full.

  • Comment removed

  • lol

  • I have my external HDD's connected via FW 800, only because its has a faster transfer rate compared to USB 2.0. Other than that, I use USB.

  • asdf

  • meh, usb is just what I use I just don't have many or any devices that connect via firewire

  • $20?! OMG. I can buy a new cable from eBay for $5. Come on.

  • other than the OMG part your comment is good Gypsoft.

  • Genius...some new Macbook pros don't have FW400, and only 800.

USB sux, compresses image. You're a joker

  • I have never used Firewire so i can't really judge

  • Um yes - ANOTHER BOORING VIDEO. Chris what has happened my man?!!!

  • I have been a long time firewire fan.

  • another great informative video that told me exactly what I was looking for. Thanks

  • universal seriale bus ftw win that usb full out

  • am i the only 1 who think this guy is BIG geek haha i mean look at him hes so funny

  • No, pretty much everyone knows he's a geek.

  • yeah but hes an big geek there is a difrent

  • yea that's why we watch

  • Firewire

  • 13Th post!

  • I much prefer FireWire to USB. I have always heard that the speed of FireWire does not fluctuate like USB does. All my video cameras require a FW connection, as does iMovie (if you're importing from a MiniDV cam), so the unibody MacBooks with no FW ports what-so-ever really baffle me. However, the white MacBook still retains the FW 400 port.

When I upgraded to my unibody MacBook Pro, I bought new cables. I really wish I had been aware of an adapter like this.

  • Nice video chris but Fire Wire in my opinion is much better!

  • cool

  • firewire came out i thought it was gonna be the new usb, but it really didn't work out that way. i only really see it with printers and scanners, sides usb has the chance to keep getting better firewire was kinda of all bam thats it.

  • i thought you would show us how to use firewire on usb

  • who would ave thought you could??

  • nice

  • Cool video Chris.
