i have a question,,to hook up an iMac to internet...do u just hook it up with an internet cable? or does it have wifi?or what?bec im getting and imac in febuary
Nice Christopher, i recieved a camcorder a long time ago and didnt have the slightest Idea how or where to connect my firewire into anything I was pissed. I guess i need a firewire adapter or something. anyways Thanks again Christopher Mathinson.
what is the difference between a firewire connection through an expresscard and a firewire connection you put directly in the computer?.... I just wonder, because expresscard-computers are much more cheap than a computer with integrated firewire ?? ..even if you pay 50 $ for an expresscard....
man you have not a clue of what is firewire or how is really works--man get a job in a circus as a clown.i was watching an video USB 2.0 vs Firewire post it by a kid and without any question he really could explain what was firewire!!!ok go a head erase me spam me clown---lololol you look like krusty the clown---haha
would a 400 to 800 adptor work with Iomega® eGo™ and give it power becuase in the uk it only come with 400 will in usa with 400 and 800 400 here give it power would the adptor pass the power though
I actually can find a cable 9-to-4 pin FW800 on eBay for $8.70 US. It's even free shipping. 6 foot long. So you don't need an $20 adapter. is. gd/vEO8 (I am not the seller, remove the space between the dot and "gd")
I much prefer FireWire (since it is up to 800mbps) and also less overhead. I have always preferred firewire to USB, but that may change with USB 3.0. Whatever is fastest is my favorite! =)
FireWire 400 aka IEEE 1394 has 3 different speeds actual transfer rates are 98.304, 196.608, and 393.216 Mbit/s, i.e. 12.288, 24.576 and 49.152 megabytes per second.
FireWire 800 aka IEEE 1394b is 786.432Mbit/s
Typical USB PC-hosts rarely exceed sustained transfers of 280 Mbit/s, with 240 Mbit/s being more typical. Likely due to USB's reliance on the host processor to manage low-level USB protocol, where F.W. delegates the same tasks to interface hardware.
Actaully, USB 2.0 Is 480Mbit not 400, were as IEEE 1394( Fire Wire) 400 is only 400Mbits, Fire wire 800 is roughly 780Mbits. So Fire wire 800 is faster then USB 2.0 sure. But USB also has a much higher device connectivity..... not that anyone would ever string together enough USB hubs to stick in 127 USB devices. you get the point regardless lol, USB 3.0 will make things so much better lol with speeds of 5Gbit, ah cant wait lol.
I much prefer FireWire to USB. I have always heard that the speed of FireWire does not fluctuate like USB does. All my video cameras require a FW connection, as does iMovie (if you're importing from a MiniDV cam), so the unibody MacBooks with no FW ports what-so-ever really baffle me. However, the white MacBook still retains the FW 400 port.
When I upgraded to my unibody MacBook Pro, I bought new cables. I really wish I had been aware of an adapter like this.
firewire came out i thought it was gonna be the new usb, but it really didn't work out that way. i only really see it with printers and scanners, sides usb has the chance to keep getting better firewire was kinda of all bam thats it.
How his latest videos should be.
