CAn any one help me with finding the date for my CAr Stereo I have a Audiovox MAde In Japan model number c-575b its Am/fm Stereo no casseete or 8 track
There used to be a place in Lyndhurst, OH called Hi-Tech Hi Fi. I bought an amp from them in 2000 but they closed shop less than a year later. From what I heard the manager (owner's son) got heavily into drugs and had to liquidate his inventory. I met the guy and he was a loon so i believe it. He wouldn't even open the store till 3 or 4 pm because that's when he got out of bed haha. Either way i practically stole the amp :)
If memory serves me correctly it was on Center Street closer to Rt 20 across from Friendly's Restaurant and the old Post Office (neither of which exist anymore).
Tech-HiFi was a big chain store as well. Not sure if they had Cleveland area stores though. Still have an old classic Pioneer SX-780 receiver with the twin meters. Great stuff back then, and certainly not obsolete, since they sound better than most cheap junk made today!
This was one of the Cook United-owned specialty stores, when the chain (which went out of business in 1987) expanded beyond their discount department stores (Uncle Bill's, Ontario, Rink's, Cooks, etc.) Other Cook United specialty stores included JP Snodgrass (teen-oriented clothing), Record Theatre (records and tapes), and Stratford Jewelers and Distributors (a catalog showroom.) The Sound Chamber store in the commercial was the location across from the then-new (now dead) Randall Park Mall.

you would think he would at least have had someone sweep up the parking lot first.

I used to live just down the street from the one in Mentor! Moved there in 1979.
