I don't know why some have such a problem with putting 70s Soul Train with later versions. The evolution of the dancing and fashion is interesting to watch. At least for me,it is.
NEver mix the 70s soul train with the later+ 90s soul train...That whole break dancing shit in this video is pathetic and to be side by side in this magnificent montage of 70s soul train is absurd.
Call me a Beyotch but American Bandstand Dancers couldn't hold a Candle to these people. In fact, I could see Blake McGrath Choreographer/Popstar born in Canada going on this show.
Love the guy about midway with the long hair/hat/grey shirt/grey pants and converse...he is mezmerizing...would like to see more of him whoever he is :)
Ah oui c'est sur , les années 70 étaient les meilleurs , nos papas et mamans dansaient vraiment pour s'amuser alors que dans les années 90 c'est une battle les danseurs font du spectacle plus que de s'amuser
Did anyone notice that the guy in the gray suit on the right almost got hit in the face at 1:05 by the guy in the white suit? That was a close call. He moved just in time.
This looks like it shows the '70s, '80s and '90s. You can see the baggy hip-hop style of the '90s with their over-sized clothes. Still had some good dance moves too, but when it comes to ST, the 1970s was the best.
This video shows the transformation from the 70s to the 80s, guys were wearing boots and dressed kinda feminine and women were damn sexy, then in the 80s men and women started to get plus size and the men only dressed ghetto like.
I love the mess out of this stuff! I was a girl and I can still move like them! Those were some good times when children and teens were not mad and bad like they are now! Just good clean happy fun on the one and only SOUL TRAIN, with Brother, MR. Fine as Wine, DON CORNELIUS and he is still the Genius in Hosting with Mostest, because it is with LOVE PEACE AND SOUL. Every Saturday morning he said that. It was good to see those girls and guys again. Thank you YouTube
Soul trains groovyness, coolness, awesomeness, whatever you call it is legendary and untouchable ! It lets every other cultural get-together look like a fucking kinder garden party.
Nice! Too bad they cancelled this show - it had great dancers (some of them are so fluid-like, you'd swear they have no skeletons!) , singers, and the women were HOT!
i wonder how peole cannot like this thats were the bboys were right there now we at jams cyhpers huge events.its all about peace love and unity and none of that racist bull shit.half you people wanna be talkin..its people like you that mess up this world
Ahhh, Soul Train was the stuff, funky music, crazy dancing, and cool clothes. Such good memories from when I was a little kid, just fun for everybody!!! Now, most of the music today make grown folks blush. I feel sorry for kids today.
why do people get all affirmative Action like towards white people in dancing and singing. Whites never give Black Asses any Credit for Adaptation in the midst of a War against them for 500 years. But a white girl can Dance we go YAH OO. OR A WHITE persons can sing with a little soul we go yippie. WELL PARROTS CAN PARROT SINGING AND DANCING TOO. AND THEY DONT NEED TO PRACTICE FOR 140 YEARS, OR 50 years after zombie dancing to Black Music. BLACKS NEED TO DEMAND THEY ARE GIVEN CREDIT THEMSELVES.
@JapaneseChirashi dude the hair was very important. those with straight hair had the big hairbrush in the back pocket and the ones with the fro's had the afro pick stock in the back of the fro. if you had a lot of chemicals in your hair a poke in the fro like the one you just saw on 1:06 would leave a dent in the hair. wich meant you had to go home fix it and go back out..
I remember lunchtime at my job on Sat, Soul Train would be on & the younger ppl would be asking me: "What Yall Call Yall Self Doin' Back Then?"
I would reply, "Dancing - Shhhh*t ! what it look like!!?" we were enjoying ourselves, even the men was gettin' down more than the women, having a FUNKY GOOD TIME
@Tiny1bme i love breakdancing, hip hop and other modern dancing styles but it s all not soul train worthy. i think soultrain should be something on its own and it's definately legendary. when u think soultrain u only think about "that" soultrain anyways.
@Tiny1bme SOULTRAIN WAS MADE FOR THE 60S EARLY AND MID70S NOT THE 80S AND 90S THIS ONE SUCKS, BUT STILL LOVE IT , BECAUSE IT MY SOULFUL SISTERS AND BROS GETIN IT IN DURING THEIR TIME, I DID THE EARLY 70S WHAT

no offense, but you really over-reacted. There was still a lot of structural segregation in the entertainment industry back in the seventies. This was a black show made by black people. And guess what? It was fucking awesome. Let's face it, there were some great white American and Mexican and Chinese American dancers as well. The fact that all these dancers are black in this says more about white people's expectations than it does about black dominated media, which is a preposterous notion.
@AltruisticUtopia it was a black dominated show for a long time. get over it. the vid is short as hell. for a real compilation that would have been longer, I'm sure you would have seen diversity. have you never watched soul train on tv before?
@scChocl8 yeah... now people can't dance shit, the music is wack and we didnt have finesse dressing up!! back in the days, everything was funky and supercool! ;)
@scChocl8 yeah... now people can't dance shit, the music is wack and we didnt have finesse dressing up!! back in the days, everything was funky and supercool! ;) Im talking about 70s Soul Train huh??
hell everybody could dance back in the day! we'd practiced all week plan our "outfits" and to the dance floor we go. and if you wasn't dancing it was becauce you needed to rest!!! sure was fun..... :)
i was @ a club party for a 24 year co-worker and i raced to the door because i saw a crow of men gathering on the dance floor. my co-worker was like where r u going? i'm like they're fighting on the dance floor! she started laughing uncontrollably and drug me to the dance floor to view a crowd of guys standing around the females while they danced. Wow, times have changed.
....where's all the long white t-shirts and pants down over the ass(with a belt on!) Oh I forgot...today all the dudes would be sittin on the sidelines tryin to look cool and the girls would be dancing by themselves (until the gun went off and everybody ran out!) Sorry...its just that we used to have fun when we went out .SAD.
@dirtyedna...... Tell me about. I tell my lil cousins all the time that ya'll generation doesnt know how to dance. I grew up in the 80's &90's and brothers used to kill the dance floor. If you watch clips of the S.T.L. from either decade you can the brothers line killin it on there own.
If you are around the music and dancing long enough, you will catch on. I have seen some really good dancers who were white, and some bad dancers who were African American, but with anyone, you got to be around the music and dancing so it can soak up in you.
@realhwaz i have to respectfully disagree with you. more than once i got showed out on the dance floor by white people. some of yall can sho-nuff get down!
@realhwaz Think again! Check out 'Junior Walker and The Allstars' -Shotgun, Hullabaloo 1966, here on Youtube, you will be amazed, let me know what you think. (I am Black by the way).
@realhwaz have you seen the Northern Soul dancing in UK.It shows white people can move and groove. The best clips are from 7ts when every body was YOUNG. KEEP THE FAITH, RIGHT ON BROTHER ps they are still doing it know but just a little bit SLOWER LOL
@realhwaz Hey Man, You are right. I only WISH I could pull off those moves without looking like an Idiot. Man, SOUL TRAIN was the Baddest dance show EVER. It Is History. Yeah man.
@realhwaz THATS NOT TRUE WE JUST HAVE IT NATURALLY EVERYBODY CAN DANCE JUST IN A DIFFERENT WAY. WERE U GO WRONG AT U GUYS DONT LISTEN AND FOLLOW THE BEAT U JUST DANCE CAUSE U HEAR MUSIC LOL

i was @ a club party for a 24 year co-worker and i raced to the door because i saw a crow of men gathering on the dance floor. my co-worker was like where r u going? i'm like they're fighting on the dance floor! she started laughing uncontrollably and drug me to the dance floor to view a crowd of guys standing around the females while they danced.

@ realhwaz, the female rapper trina has a whitegirl in 1 of her vids, and this girl is bad!!! and i mean that in a good way, she can really dance.
sassie313 2 years ago
If you are around the music and dancing long enough, you will catch on. I have seen some really good dancers who were white, and some bad dancers who were African American, but with anyone, you got to be around the music and dancing so it can soak up in you.
