  • luckily, I have tons of tattooed friends who let me practice on them

    Then why come?

  • tks for the vid man great help

  • @RcUniverseGuy

Sorry, irl took over for a bit and i forgot about sparring with the mentally deficient on the interwebs. No, not everyone deserves to be a tattoo artist. If you don't have respect for the trade and the well-being of your clients you deserve to go sell tickets at the movie theater. Just like racing. If you can't respect the threat you pose as a race car driver you should stick to rc cars, right? It's what separates the professionals from the hobbyists.

  • These are really good tips. I just started my apprenticeship after getting some tattoos from a local shop. I got some of my own original work tattooed on me and the guy liked my work. And so did some of the people looking at my other drawings and asking the guy who did my tattoos to do some of my work on them.

  • Man such critics. There is nothing wrong with doing tattoos from home if you know what you are doing. I've seen friends do better tattooing then most shops I have seen. I would personally never pay a shop for there crap tattoos that are over priced.

  • i started my apprenticeship by just hangin in the shop and being trustworthy and doin little things around the shop and finally the boss lady asked if i was ready to start a full time apprenticeship.

  • @countryboy0620 Im 14 and love art but I want to start getting into tattooing. Theres a local shop a couple of blocks away from me so what do I do to start hanging around and would they let me hang around like you did !! PLEASE RESPOND !!

  • @jaydenftw Visit the shop often, express an interest. Ask them about apprentencing, some places cost around $3000 to get an apprenticeship some cost nothing. Start building a portfolio. A collective folder of your drawings. Your 14 so I dont know how well you draw, but earlier you start the better. Good luck!

  • Jesus Christ People,Quit Making fun Of Him He Is Teaching how To be a Tattoo Artist... I Want To Be One Myself So im checkin It Out Before I Start Learning... Thanks Dude! :)

  • Yeah, you guys need to chill. He's doing it to help the people that actually want to pursue this as a career, such as myself. Every bit of helpful information I can get from an expert tattoo artist, I'll take. I'm willing to learn and take advice, unlike you ungrateful, know-it-all assholes.

  • What have we learned from this video???

1- The best way to learn is to pick up a machine and start.

2- the best way to learn is to go watch an artist

3- The best way to learn is to get an apprenticeship

    .

Well this guy doesn't really know what he is talking about. The reason people can not get in easily into a tattoo studio is because simply put, most people don't deserve to know.

    This guy is contradicting himself.

  • That is cracking good advice. Exactly what I would have said and exactly how I got to it. I think this is an age old way of getting into it and the best way.

    Good advice.

  • But if your gonna stick out your house good luck, just make sure everythings sterile, you dont wanna spread aids and hepC, etc. And like this guy says work at your skill level if you can just do little stars and names and such, tell some idiot who wants a giant custom back peice from a guy who sticks out his house.

  • This guy knows what hes talking about. Ive been doing tattoos for a few years now and I started out by buying a case kit off the internet and sticking people out my house. It was very hard because I had to learn by trial and error and the errors dont ever go away. Take an apprenticeship youll be such a better artist because of it. Just dont settle for a garbage shop cause thats a bad way to learn too. And never get discouraged, remember "What one man (or woman) can do, another can do.".

  • I'm getting my portfolio together to see if this one shop will take me

  • Good video

  • Good video

  • Good video

  • not really thats wat apprentices are they want to learn the art and obviously they want to work at that shop as well. you dont ask someone for a apprenticeship and not work at that shop. you can leave later on but thats like a slap in the face

  • Listin, just stop being little babys, poeple that dont want apprenticships deep down really do want one. Dont be jelous, just because you dont have the balls and dedication to be a great tattooer. great tattoers dedicate there lives to this trade. To all the home scratchers have fun on craigslist or il be fixing you work.

    Have a nice day

  • That's odd. Marcus Pacheco tattoos from home. Do you think he is a "great tattooer" like yourself? Or what about Scott Harrison? Surely you can't judge one's ability by the location of their workplace.

Maybe we should judge a person's artistic ability by their spelling capabilities instead...just sayin'.

  • apprentices are just ppl that want to tattoo at that place. u can learn urslef of course. most self taught ppl own shops

  • why would you need to become an apprentice of an artist if you really got the talent?...ive tattooed my friends now and i never been an apprentice even for 5 freakin seconds!...practice is what you need...not an apprenticeship..apprenticeship only makes the work of the TA easier.but you can learn it all just all by yourself...

  • kuro sumi is the best ink out there or intenze

  • kuro sumi is nice.

  • Like the man said its better to tattoo on someone. Practice skin and fake skin dont feel pain.

  • I feel I need to study shading. And whats the best ink for dark skin color.

  • haha yup my thighs are all BLASTED!!

  • good tips

  • Going to college Art College and hoping to become a tatto artist when finished .. should i become an aprentice first or ... grab a machine and equipment and practice ?:L:L

  • build up aportfolio full of a rang of drawings , tattoo life draws anthing that demonstrates your skills , most tattooist will look for clean smooth lines and nice shading . youll get knocked backa fair bit but keep coming back and go to all studios ya can. best to learn from a tattooist rather than on your own

  • I'm just starting and tried the practice skin didn't help at all, then I got a freind to let me do something not to hard and from that other people have seen that and liked what I did . But I do look forward too doing a apprenticeship in the future when I'm 18 maybe. Good video.

  • this bloke is fantastic, he talks to you as if you were there , FANTASTIC

  • good video!

  • I was thinking that I could get some pig skin, for the first few runs, cause I'm afraid the first ones will be total catastrophies... I can say that I'm talented drawer/airbrusher, but this just freaks me out a bit...

  • thanx!
