So far, the only reason I don't think Xenoblade should have won was because it won't release in NA until Spring 2012, even though I know that the UK also had a say in this. I don't know if Xenoblade will be better than Skyward Sword, but my decision has to do with time frames and I haven't even played Xenoblade yet. I'm not spending money for a foreign Wii that I'll only play like one or three games on.

Well, I wanted Zelda won, but, this proves that Wii has great games besides Mario Galaxy and Skyward. It's a great console for JRPG lovers (i don't consider myself as a "lover", though i like some of them) and has some of the most innovative games of this generation. It's not the best of this generation but is not a piece of crap either.

I know a lot of people are upset about Zelda losing, but the fact of the matter is that it's BECAUSE a lot of people are upset about it that Zelda doesn't need to win. Everyone knows about Zelda, about how awesome it is, and Xenoblade is just that obscure game in the corner that has only truly gotten notice through the internet. Zelda doesn't need to win, but Xenoblade does, because it and other Nintendo RPGs' futures are uncertain. Just step back and give this game some limelight.

I'm not owing all three gaming systems because that is ridiculous. And as consumers we should let the market know this is where we draw the line. One system - 2 systems max.

So there a couple of things that I have to say. First I haven't played xenoblade and in alright it looks like a good game. Second this doesn't really affect me because my opinion of Gamespot has dwained to the point where I'm not surprised by this. If all you have to do to make a game which innovates is copy and paste the same texture in about a billion locations. I didn't knock it and in fact I said Xenoblade looks like a good game. I just said that I don't trust GameSpot opinion which is my personal opinion due to the fact that critic hated on controls without truly experiencing it. The critic got so much response about this that he literally came out and said he was wrong but refused to change the score. On elder scrolls side say one big thing they changed gameplay wise compared to other games. Nothing right.

On a side note Skyrim looks prettier yes and improves upon a few things but everything is corly the same. Zelda comes out swinging making innovations with game controls, upgrades, and gameplay and the whole experience yet is criticised for being the same. Doesn't make since. On a side note Skyrim has cool things and is obviously better on a few grounds. But in two years people are going to say Skyrim was great and this is why the next game will fix all that what was wrong.

Game of the Year awards shouldn't be a glorified popularity contest, regardless of whether it's overall GotY or a subcategory like "best Wii game". Sure, Modern Warfare 3 and Skyrim were the biggest sellers of the year, but Call of Duty has become more formulaic than Zelda and Skyrim was buggy as hell. Just because Skyward Sword sold more, and it's available right now in America, doesn't automatically make it any better than Xenoblade.

I personally think that Skyward Sword is better, but Xenoblade is a worthy winner. It's such a great game to play, and so well presented, and so well paced and with such great music that it's a must for all gamers. @heythatisjourney - Wind Waker was the last great Zelda game IMO. Skyword sword had a chance but it cut a few corners in trying to streamline the experience. And the whole Zelda is Hylia plot device seemed incredibly unnecessary.
