  • God, why do you two talk soooooooooooo slowly?

  • Dominion is NOT better then than Thunderstone! Dominion is just buying cards to get the ability to buy more cards. In Thunderstone you have a whole different game each time you are playing. I think at dominion it is the same but. Thunderstone has more strategies, more values and it even has a goal. You have to buy cards to also buy more cards but you have to build up a strategy to defeat the monsters at the dungeon and for every different type of monster you need another way to pass them.

  • Great comparison/contrast video of two popular games. I've been looking for a new board game/card game to try out with some friends (all of which are magic players), so it looks like I'll be choosing Dominion so we don't repeat our MTG nights :P. Thanks! Great vid!

  • Dominion is better, no question.

  • i havent played any of these two games yet ,but from the reviews i've watched/read ,i believe that in dominion as you get used to the game you find the best combination of cards and you can use it everytime you play and with some luck of the draw win ... while in thunderstone there is some variability in every game since the monsters are drawn randomly and have to use a pretty different strategy in every game ...

  • @alexandereno Perhaps you missed an important point in how dominion works: the selection of cards you're allowed to buy iis randomized. There are certainly combinations of cards that are extremely strong, but because you wont always have access to the same cards, you'll need to be able to assess the card pool each game and find the best strategy. A combo that was dominant one game may actually be weaker or even completely countered in a different card pool.

  • Good points covered in the review. However, if you are going to make a review video, there are several improvements you can make:

    1) Energy and enthusiasm - The guy on the right has about as much enthusiasm and pep as a houseplant. And the plant, I believe, would have more personality. Where's the excitement?

    2) Interaction - Don't just show the boxes. Interact with the games as you make your comments.

    3) Eye Contact - Look at the camera. That's where your audience is.

  • A tip: when you want to have the attention of the viewers LOOK AT THE CAMERA.

  • Dominion can't make a Eevee a Jolteon.

  • crappy amateur review ... do all of us a favor... don't do reviews ...

  • I'm glad I watched this video. I very much enjoy Dominion, and have been pondering Thunderstone, and I probably will stick to Dominion.

  • "Dominion is a game for 2-4 players ..."

me: nonono dominion is the new mode for league of legends and its for 5v5 only

  • And I disagree that the attacks in Dominion did nothing. I played the game three times, and never got to do anything because I kept losing my turn or cards from being attacked.

  • I strongly disliked Dominion because of its competitive nature. But, loved Thunderstone since it is cooperative.

  • Why is there even comparisons of MTG here? I don't understand that at all. MTG is a CCG, whereas these games are more accurately described as a "board game" in card format. These games actually have more in common with Monopoly, rather than MTG. I really think that this is unjust to compare such different games to each other like this. It's like comparing Risk to Stratego; they have a few things in common, but you would be crazy to try and judge one in comparison to the other.

  • @zombies8cody

How much do they talk about MTG in this? And aren't they all card drafting/deck building games?

  • @zombies8cody That is exactly what I was thinking while watching this

  • @zombies8cody MTG is a game where you first BUILD a deck using a select pool of cards, strategically selecting cards to optimize how your deck plays. You then play the deck in an attempt to reach a victory condition before your opponent. In Monopoly you role dice to randomly move around board in order to buy deeds to spaces on the board in hopes that other players will land there and have to pay you rent. One of these descriptions sounds similar to Dominion. The other, not even close.

  • @zombies8cody I wouldn't say dominion has more in common with MTG. The comboing stuff in Dominion is clearly inspired by magic, and that's pretty much the most important part of the game. And the fact that you have to think about the ratios of cards in your deck that will give the best chance of hitting combos. Those two things don't really exist on board games, and are central to MTG and most other CCG's. That being said, they still play quite differently.

  • In this video: two guys mumbling about magic the gathering.

  • You guys need to work on your production a little bit. I could barely make out what you were saying. Maybe talk to the camera instead of each other. Both these games are great deck building games. One is a dungeon crawl, and one is a civ building game.

  • The guy on the right needs to speak up. I'll be checking out more video's on the "BoardGameWarriors" channel for sure. This is the 1st video I've watched. It seems like the guy on the left "knows" about the games and the one on the right is like the "new" player. Asking a lot of questions someone like me, who hasn't played either game, would ask. I think it is a good video. :)

  • @dajusta87

Uh, yeah, they were talking about the levels of player interactivity in the games, duh. In this way they are very similar. Like he said, you are just a dumb troll.

    Don't feed the troll, folks.

  • @dajusta87 Now you are just throwing out straw-man after straw-man. You suck even more at trolling than at being a musician. Or perhaps you just cannot comprehend a rational discussion. So which is it, geek. Stupid? Troll? Or both?

  • @ErmineskinCreelov Sir you have not said anything one bit constructive and saying any more is only proving my point. Do you agree with me that this particular comparison between Dominion and Thunderstone is tragic based on the fact that they loosely compare it to Magic: The Gathering? Don't you feel outraged? It's like comparing Disney films with LOTR and concluding that either one sucks because Star Wars is cooler. Open your eyes and say something constructive!

  • @dajusta87 Wow. You it seems like you haven't even watched it. They barely mention MtG, because they are both deck building games and people often compare them, as mtgrichie88 correctly stated in a previous post. But the freaky thing is that you are outraged. From a Youtube video. What a fanboy loser you are.

  • @ErmineskinCreelov If my opinion has no truth to them at all then I suggest you watch Tom Vasel's reviews on boardgames, or even Drakkenstrike's. Or even UFBRT reviews on boardgames. Heck, there are a bunch of great people who make board game reviews. Watch those and find the stark difference.

  • @dajusta87 There are much better gaming videos, but also much worse. You, sir, are a hater. Why? Because you suck at Youtube. And probably at life. End. Of. Discussion.

  • @timidstance elaborate.

  • @dajusta87 He/she clearly means that you are hypocritical. Though I would suggest that you are generally retarded. Which would explain why youcut your head off in your videos: fear of down syndrome intolerance.

  • @Erminsekincreelov I didn't say my videos are great and I'm lost at how you can compare a board game review to a guitar-cover video. Perhaps you should compare board game reviews with other board game reviews. Just a thought.

  • @dajusta87

Your thought is stupid, and your logic is flawed.

  • Not organized. Poor editing. Comparison with Magic: The Gathering.. No complete statement and conclusive thoughts. Conversation jumps around. One guy's voice is barely audible. A dismal and biased effort to rate two awesome board games, highly ranked on boardgamegeek.

  • @dajusta87 After looking at your "videos" it is easy to call anyone else's efforts dismal. I mean the work you must have put into those is legendary.

  • @dajusta87 I really don't see anything wrong with dajusta's comments, or why he's getting trashed so much here. The conversation seemed uncomfortable and disorganized. The fella on the right seems like he has other stuff on his mind.

Being unimpressed by a Youtube video makes you a troll? His post might make future videos from Boardgamewarrior better. I like the discussion format better than the trite "Let's see what's in the box" approach nearly every other reviewer needs to make.

  • Great great conversation about the two games. I want both. I believe the two of you made a convincing argument for the enjoyment of both. Thanks for the review!

  • Wow....these games have nothing in common to Magic....i cant believe thats what they are basing things on......wow.....fail....really thats just stupid....you cant compare these games to magic....Magic is a different animal all together.

  • @Herfer although its not really like magic, I play magic competetivly, and I love building decks, so when I heard there was a deck building game out there, I was hooked, I now regularly play dominion and ascension, I just got resident evil but dont play very often and thunderstone i play when im pretty bored. so there is a small connection to be made, and alot of magic players love these games, some magic players made deck building games also.

  • Monster variety is great in Thunderstone, and I have 4 person games where, it was my turn before I finished drawing my next hand. Mid game pending a turn to burn off a card, is often a great strat. Some times killing a monster can load up your deck with filler cards, and give you negative effects. I have been messed over by killing a few easy monsters that had disease effects, before getting a few clerics.

  • wtf?! is the guy to the right stoned or what? he is not saying anything .... useful. No good discussion about the comparison

  • ~thumbs up~

  • good comparison mates. I like youre review. If i can make a little-little critic, can you pull up youre voices? With the noises of the ambient, and all, sometimes i miss a think. Thank you very much, and sorry for the lame rockus. Keep flying & Keep gaming. Nekos
