David is my cousin..... only few years older then me, me being 17. I really miss Asher...... he really is a good kid and loves everybody, helping everybody.
David said, "One Christmas, he really wanted Rock Band, and we did get it for him, but when he opened it. Asher said, no dad, I don't want this, please take this and give it to someone who doesn't have anything"
One of the sweetest and coolest guy I ever knew. Its a shame.... =(
He lives on in a school rule, and in memory of two songs....
I knew him, my dad and his dad worked together and were good friends. I can promise you all, Asher was probably one of the sweetest and most intelligent boys I have ever met in my ENTIRE life. Thinking that such a sweet and innocent boy killed himself, just kills me inside. I still cry about it. R.I.P. Asher, we miss you <3
I wonder what was so wrong that made it right for him to get bullied that way? I mean, he was 13, he was still a child. what child gets bullied to the point that he has to take his own life?! it tears me up inside how such things occur and the people reponsible get to walk free
So sad! I pray for peace for his family! My son was bullied in junior high, so sad that kids can be so cruel. Schools and parents need to educate kids that bullying is very wrong!
We live in such an awful world if this is the kind of things that happen. I am crying so hard. Asher, I hope you are in a better place where there is no hate.
I knew Asher, him and my dad were good friends. When I met him, it never once crossed my mind, "oh, this kid must be gay." He was so smart, would've had an amazing future ahead of him. R.I.P.
their school seriously needs to answer some questions why they are denying there is any bullying going on when clearly parents are saying they have complained about it.
asher brown was one of my friends we used to sit together at lunch in the walter case commons and talk along with my friend danielle, robby, braydon, hanna, and tobin. i really miss him but its nice to see that at least some people care
i hope those bullys know that they have his blood on their hands and!!!!! 3:07 just PISSED ME OFF!!! FOR GODS SAKES IF YOU ARE AT SCHOOL OBVIOUSLY YOU'RE GONNA BE READING BOOKS!!!
So many things makes me upset about this. The Fact that in this world, 13 Year old children feel the Need to take they're own life. That Fact that there are people who would PUSH a 13 year old child to take their life. The Fact that The Schools would lie and Cause more pain to the distraught parents of this horrible event. I've cried twice from watching this video. There is nothing more Heartbreaking then watching a mother cry for her lost Child.
I know that this is sooo irelivant but This Vid was uploded on my birthday!!!
But in seriousness This is BS so what if they are different? so what if their homosexual? so what if they can't have the things you have? Just so what? Leave them alone!!!!
What a beautiful little boy, losing him is such a loss to all of us. This makes me sick, I am so sorry about the loss of Asher, those that bullied him know who they are.
I went to school with Asher, but i just want everyone to know that after this terrible terrible situation that our school is much different not that there has been a loss but NO BULLYING anymore even the bullyes there self have said i will not buly though i was in a different grade i feel for there family god bless
we have a gay boy at my school who is kind of being picked on. I mean he hadn't admitted he was gay but he acts like it and he hinted me and my best friend that he is. :/ i kind of feel sorry for him now cause i myself was mean to him. im sorry justin!
I think it's pathetic that people are so low that they will pressure someone to kill themselfs. I think it's absolutly bullshit. Making someone kill themselfs is not a way to get cooler making fun of someone does not make you cooler. And to the school go fuck yourself your pathetic aswell.
The staff wants to blame the parents and other students. Some staff members are awesome but some are mean and rude. I am going through a situation with an AP at Cypress creek High school, he picked on my son for so long,But now he has started with my daughter. How do we stop bullying with these type of people??? I am sure Asher did tell a teacher but since the school staff are not allowed to say anything then we will never know. May he rest in peace and hold the Lord's hand.
This is just the worst thing. I am thirteen I am a lesbian. And I get picked on alot for it. It is just terrible what this kid had to go throguh just because of what he believed in and how he thought. You can't help what you are drawn to. I wish I would have been able to meet him....I would have loved to be his friend. R.I.P Asher -3
School's don't care about bulling they only care about there perfect non bulling stats.. I know this as i am a one of the few youth supports and it has taken me 3 years to get though to my school adim and when kids came to me for help cause they couldnt trust the schools adults supports, the school woke up to the amount of bulling that was happening now these days with me runing a anti bullying programme the bulling has decreased..
This is exactly why I left school when I was 16. It wasn't because I hated learning (in fact I went on to graduate with a 4.0 in aerospace engineering and now work at NASA). Kids will pick on you because you're quiet and don't care about all the materialistic things they all have. I was simply quiet, not even gay or anything. I can't imagine what it must be like for a homosexual young person in our schools. Feel a lot of pain for this kid. RIP young man.
i met his parents.... There was a Bullying Awareness Festival at my school and a lot of people came.... He came and i was speaking and he was in the audience and i talked about a bully. He came up on stage with me.... His dad and his mom.... I felt sad....
This is sooo Sad for A 13 year old bot to kill himself because other kids picked on him its so sad that he took his own life This needs to stop kids need to know there are places to go to for help and people to talk to i hope his family is doing ok i know this must be a hard time just know GOD Dosen,t put anything on us we can,t handle
This is exactly why parents are pulling their kids from public schools & home schooling their children. He's such a beautiful little boy & I pray for his family. RIP Asher, & all of the others who have taken their lives from this horrible bullying trend. (not just because of being gay) like, Tyler Clementi, Phoebe Prince, Megan Meire, Billy Lucas, Seth Walsh, Raymond Chase, Cody Barker, & there are many more that I can't fit here, and that really needs to stop. We need to stop the hate!!
@ResistanceSoulz I've been called gay for years even though I'm not. The people who are targeting you clearly have issues and should be pitied. It's unfortunate that they're turning their problems into your problems. I may not know you but by speaking up I can tell that you are a strong person full of potential. Never take the route of Asher Brown or Tyler Clementi. They made horrible mistakes and ended their lives without thinking about the people they left behind. Remember those who love you.
Many variables. Community, school, parents/guardian(s), government. Bully(s). "We". All to blame. But as be. To point the finger. To minimize the blame. The bully(s) parent/guardian(s) of them & the school & maybe to the parent/guardians(s) of the dead. What some don't realize. Is some things as bullying can't be stoped now. Because there is no law protections. To actually protect some there of. As many schools. Do not have laws for LGBTTHQ AND Special-Disabled AS well.
Rest in peace Asher..slowly we will get eyes open with this worldwide epidemic, we know the pain you went through..I pray for you, your parents and each and every GLBTQ teens that are experiencing the same things as you did.
@ResistanceSoulz....you are perfect just the way you are....keep learning, keep growing, keep wanting to be the best person you can be. You know in your soul how to achieve your wildest dreams.... those small-minded bigots will only be a bad memory when you do. Keep your chin up, Friend.
@ResistanceSoulz Check out "Just ask Momo" here on youtube. Momo is a kewl guy who gives sage advice. He has advice on how to fight back. Also, watch as many "it gets better" clips as you can everyday. Know that there are people who do care, very much. I will reply to messages if you need someone to talk to. Stay strong and don't let them win.
Gay kids can only take so much before they come to the conclusion that they have no future, if all it holds for them is universal hate and violence from their home, their peers, their school and their church. To such children, death is a merciful release.
There needs to be federal law instated which makes it illegal for anyone, no matter what age, to be charged to the full extent of the law for bullying and harrassing other people based on sex, orientation, religion, or anything that someone does not choose!! Schools need to take this seriously before someone else's child puts a gun to their head.. It makes me sick to my stomach that this behavior is allowed to go on and nothing is ever done!!
I can't believe young boys at this age are being treated this way. It's not fair, how just because they are gay they have to be treated this way. Hearing about all these cases just breaks my heart so much!
What sucks the most is Asher would of been someone who contributes to society and the kids that bullied him will most likely end up total losers that spend all their money on name brand crap!!!! The bullies are just jealous of kids like Asher because they can see that he is his own person and not ruled by what corporations tell them to buy.
I See his pictures& could just smile. He looked like a nice kid. This is sad though. I kind of know what he felt because Im lesbian. I Wish it never had to be like that for him though.
this is horrible! because of the homophobic people, this child killed his self bcoz he can't help it bcoz of the bullies. I wish he would be more stronger to fight his right. but his too young and it is hard to deal. I think there is no cure for those homophobic people. bcoz ever since people think that gay is a disease, so the effect to the generations is so pathetic. the community and sorroundings had a lot to do with this kind of problem. the earth is old but the people is still IGNORANT!
I know this might sound stupid...but if he was being bullied since the 6th grade...how come his parents didn't remove him from the school or took more action into it since the school ignored them?
Things would be different if the government would give gay people the same rights as straight people have. We are teaching our kids that being gay is not right, that gay people are second class citizens, that they don;t deserve to ge married and be happy, that they can;t join the army or that they are not good enough to raise kids. This is why all this shit is happening and i beg to all of you people to change this. Lets speak up, PARENTS, speak up! GOD LOVE US ALL
it sucks that this had to happen for people to realise that kids get bullied and bad there are kids out there that bully but really thing their not bullying but they are and sooner or later they have to realise it and to those kids who bullied him fuck u
Man this world is so fucked up. people dont understand what kids go through every day. they need to get their fat mother fucking asses up off their office chair and yell at some ass holes of kids because obviously there are problems that need to be fixed.
@generationx1254 The advice I can give you is just know that there WILL be a time when you won't have to face this and everything will be in the past. Just think about how things will be when you're 16, 18, 20, 30, you name it......and you'll still be here. :) I wish you nothing but love and support!
@generationx1254 I'm 21 and I was bullied in middle school. It hurt for many years, but eventually it was so easy to let go of as I got older...especially when I entered college and realized a) there are so many other people like me 2) I don't have to deal with other students if I don't want to (I lived off campus). I kept a lot of it to myself, but I think with the internet (which was not as prevalent when i was your age), there are many means to find people who will support you.
What a world we live in, because he read books, we was gay, did not wear clothes the suit the new fashion scene. This young boy is amazing! I am a 16 year old boy, i can not stand younger children who pick on other kids.
Makes you want to punch the stupid bullies in the face. Goodness..my heart goes out to the mother and stepfather. Asher may he rest in peace your safe now. Poor little guy.
There will always be bullies out there. What parents need to do is teach their kids to be respectful and accepting of others no matter who they are and at the same time teach them to take up for those that are weaker.
First thing, teachers and schools do nothing, even when the parents do something. What finally got me peace is something I will forever be ashamed off.Secondly, I feel for Asher, because I went through something similar, I really do. While I might not be gay, having your entire year harrassing you is hard to deal with. I was lucky enough to have something that kept me going.
Finally, if you think children are incapable of this, what I, others and most importantly Asher endured says otherwise.
@MT443 You're right. You don't know what you're talking about!! I knew I was gay when I got crushes on other little 8 year old boys. All my friends that are gay knew they were gay from the time they were little kids as well. To say he got the idea from kids that were bullying him is really a stupid thing to say!! That's like saying, well everyone is making fun of me & calls me gay so hmmmmm.....sounds like a good idea, I think I'll be gay then & really get tormented!!!
@MT443 No, you definetely know that you are gay by 13 (or at least you start to suspect by then). I began to realize it when I was 12 but didn't come out until my mid 20's. By 13 you will know whether or not you like boys or girls. But it's not just gay kids who get called faggot or queer by bullies, it's almost any boy that's being bullied (regardless of sexuality).
it's messed up how teens bully others. i have a gay friend and when he told me, i treated him with more respect. and i told him my secret because i could trust him too. i stopped him from killing himself when someone told people about his sexual orientation. and he thanks me for that. we have each others' back no matter what. everyone should be treated equally and its not just the kids that need to be checked its also the parents because they affect their children
Nobody ever blames the parents for these things. I bet they are just being nice to him now that he's dead. I mean, they're not going to admit anything that they did wrong to him, and neither will the school.
Also, why the fuck does the kid have a gun and is allowed to use it?
This is all the parents' fault.
Bullying happens every day and nobody, including the school AND the parents, takes it seriously.
These are preventable suicides. My daughter was being bullied in 5th grade. I watched and saw it for myself. The principal did not take it seriously. After repeated requests for assistance in dealing with these beastly types, I realized nothing was going to be done. So I finished talking to the principal, requested an exit form and withdrew my daughter from that school. My daughter is 18 now and still has the emotional wound from that experience. She tells me I saved her life.
@MsDinnerman That's really sad that you knew of him. I hope that things change drastically at your school. Hopefully you have some grief counselors, too
Wow...nice boy, liked to read (a great thing, you don't see that much anymore), he was kind, generous, and had a sense of humour. Fucking asshole kids, if I ever met the fucker that pushed Asher Brown down those stairs, there wouldn't be much left of him by the time I'll be finished.
i go to goodson ms im in 8th grade and i dont wear abercrombie or tht cuz i dont wanna im not taller than 5 feet ya i get bullied most ppl do to be honest but there wuz something besides bullying goin on cuz i kno hamilton i grew up with them the bullies cant be tht bad
i go to cy ranch and hamilton isnt that far from it and today we did a whole assemple about bullying and cyber bullying and we were going to do it anyways but the death of sher brown increased the reason why we had to. it's very sad that this happens.
This brings back painful memories for me. I was born and raised in a christian home and school enviornment. Now here's something: I was bullied quite a bit in the private school so much that I would never send my child there. Sadly nobody believed me or they swept it under the rug. It hurt me quite alot.
I know within our deep sad maybe it's not right to say this now here but I can't appreciate the parent could have not prevented what happened....you know...it doesn't make sense if you say he was just fine, he woke up and killed himself! Definitely he has been through such hard sad time the ended up to disaster....I know if the parent did not do the right reaction it has not been deliberately...It's been due to lack of knowledge but anyways all I just wanna add is my profound condolences to all
Unfortunately, many schools just try to minimize situations like this and it needs to stop! Parents like these who spoke up for their child, only for the bullying to continue....it's just disgusting. They tried to do the right thing, and Asher should still be here. PARENTS, KEEP SPEAKING UP! LOTS OF BULLYING GOING ON AT THAT AGE!!!!
I'm fucking sick over this. My younger siblings went to Hamilton and anytime anything arose, this school didn't do a damn thing. I cannot, for the life of me, imagine what kind of environment kids grow up in where they feel the need to taunt other kids just to make themselves feel better, especially to this extent. Those kids who did it, and they fucking know who they are, should be held fully accountable. His parents accepted him, but it was his fucking classmates who made him feel unworthy.
I was kind of bullied in high school...and believe teachers dont give a shit....they wont say a thing when someone is harrassing you and it hurts even more to know a teacher will sit and watch you get harrassed and not say a word to the students that are doing the harrassing its a shame.
What's terrifying is, this boy had good, loving, and accepting parents, and *still* chose to kill himself... people just don't understand the intense damage that bullying does to children... I can't imagine what these parents are going through... and to have the school portray them as liars and deny the school's own culpability is simply outrageous.
When I hear stuff like this it brings me to tears. I was bullied when I was a kid. At times when I hear this I Feel I take life for granted. No one should ever take life for granted. We should treat all with respect regardless of skin colour, religion AND sexual orientation. We all bleed the same colour.
R.I.P Asher Brown I only met you once but you were a great step cousin I hope you live in peace up there in heaven

this is horrible! because of the homophobic people, this child killed his self bcoz he can't help it bcoz of the bullies. I wish he would be more stronger to fight his right. but his too young and it is hard to deal. I think there is no cure for those homophobic people. bcoz ever since people think that gay is a disease, so the effect to the generations is so pathetic. the community and sorroundings had a lot to do with this kind of problem. the earth is old but the people is still IGNORANT!
chardy2024 1 year ago
I know this might sound stupid...but if he was being bullied since the 6th grade...how come his parents didn't remove him from the school or took more action into it since the school ignored them?

Things would be different if the government would give gay people the same rights as straight people have. We are teaching our kids that being gay is not right, that gay people are second class citizens, that they don;t deserve to ge married and be happy, that they can;t join the army or that they are not good enough to raise kids. This is why all this shit is happening and i beg to all of you people to change this. Lets speak up, PARENTS, speak up! GOD LOVE US ALL

@generationx1254 The advice I can give you is just know that there WILL be a time when you won't have to face this and everything will be in the past. Just think about how things will be when you're 16, 18, 20, 30, you name it......and you'll still be here. :) I wish you nothing but love and support!
xekeus 1 year ago
@generationx1254 I'm 21 and I was bullied in middle school. It hurt for many years, but eventually it was so easy to let go of as I got older...especially when I entered college and realized a) there are so many other people like me 2) I don't have to deal with other students if I don't want to (I lived off campus). I kept a lot of it to myself, but I think with the internet (which was not as prevalent when i was your age), there are many means to find people who will support you.
xekeus 1 year ago
i hope these 4 kids who bullied him now and have to live with what they did to a boy who doesn't have a future anymore because they bullied him
eiriyuki37 1 year ago
What a world we live in, because he read books, we was gay, did not wear clothes the suit the new fashion scene. This young boy is amazing! I am a 16 year old boy, i can not stand younger children who pick on other kids.

There will always be bullies out there. What parents need to do is teach their kids to be respectful and accepting of others no matter who they are and at the same time teach them to take up for those that are weaker.
PeruDallas74 1 year ago
We can only hope that this would spark some sort'f change. Though, I highly doubt that. Hopefully, maybe, it will.
starbshero 1 year ago
First thing, teachers and schools do nothing, even when the parents do something. What finally got me peace is something I will forever be ashamed off.Secondly, I feel for Asher, because I went through something similar, I really do. While I might not be gay, having your entire year harrassing you is hard to deal with. I was lucky enough to have something that kept me going.
Finally, if you think children are incapable of this, what I, others and most importantly Asher endured says otherwise.
LionofCaliban 1 year ago
I'm no LGBT expert... but don't people usually discover they're gay later in their life (not when they are 13).
I bet this kid got the idea that he's gay from the bullies....
MT443 1 year ago
@MT443 You're right. You don't know what you're talking about!! I knew I was gay when I got crushes on other little 8 year old boys. All my friends that are gay knew they were gay from the time they were little kids as well. To say he got the idea from kids that were bullying him is really a stupid thing to say!! That's like saying, well everyone is making fun of me & calls me gay so hmmmmm.....sounds like a good idea, I think I'll be gay then & really get tormented!!!

Fleursdelily 10 months ago
@MT443 Wrong. I knew when young. Same as 13yr old boy know he likes girls, the same is for a young boy has crushes on guys.
jaydawg34 1 year ago
@MT443 No, you definetely know that you are gay by 13 (or at least you start to suspect by then). I began to realize it when I was 12 but didn't come out until my mid 20's. By 13 you will know whether or not you like boys or girls. But it's not just gay kids who get called faggot or queer by bullies, it's almost any boy that's being bullied (regardless of sexuality).

This was so brave of them to come and speak out so soon after the tragic event. You can see how much they're trying to keep themselves together.

it's messed up how teens bully others. i have a gay friend and when he told me, i treated him with more respect. and i told him my secret because i could trust him too. i stopped him from killing himself when someone told people about his sexual orientation. and he thanks me for that. we have each others' back no matter what. everyone should be treated equally and its not just the kids that need to be checked its also the parents because they affect their children
arob61897 1 year ago
Nobody ever blames the parents for these things. I bet they are just being nice to him now that he's dead. I mean, they're not going to admit anything that they did wrong to him, and neither will the school.
Also, why the fuck does the kid have a gun and is allowed to use it?
This is all the parents' fault.
Bullying happens every day and nobody, including the school AND the parents, takes it seriously.
hamsterpoop 1 year ago
These are preventable suicides. My daughter was being bullied in 5th grade. I watched and saw it for myself. The principal did not take it seriously. After repeated requests for assistance in dealing with these beastly types, I realized nothing was going to be done. So I finished talking to the principal, requested an exit form and withdrew my daughter from that school. My daughter is 18 now and still has the emotional wound from that experience. She tells me I saved her life.

This brings back painful memories for me. I was born and raised in a christian home and school enviornment. Now here's something: I was bullied quite a bit in the private school so much that I would never send my child there. Sadly nobody believed me or they swept it under the rug. It hurt me quite alot.
christinahildebrand1 1 year ago
I know within our deep sad maybe it's not right to say this now here but I can't appreciate the parent could have not prevented what happened....you know...it doesn't make sense if you say he was just fine, he woke up and killed himself! Definitely he has been through such hard sad time the ended up to disaster....I know if the parent did not do the right reaction it has not been deliberately...It's been due to lack of knowledge but anyways all I just wanna add is my profound condolences to all
CyrusFun 1 year ago
Unfortunately, many schools just try to minimize situations like this and it needs to stop! Parents like these who spoke up for their child, only for the bullying to continue....it's just disgusting. They tried to do the right thing, and Asher should still be here. PARENTS, KEEP SPEAKING UP! LOTS OF BULLYING GOING ON AT THAT AGE!!!!
dhille7 1 year ago
I'm fucking sick over this. My younger siblings went to Hamilton and anytime anything arose, this school didn't do a damn thing. I cannot, for the life of me, imagine what kind of environment kids grow up in where they feel the need to taunt other kids just to make themselves feel better, especially to this extent. Those kids who did it, and they fucking know who they are, should be held fully accountable. His parents accepted him, but it was his fucking classmates who made him feel unworthy.
MoonTrimmer28 1 year ago 3
I was kind of bullied in high school...and believe teachers dont give a shit....they wont say a thing when someone is harrassing you and it hurts even more to know a teacher will sit and watch you get harrassed and not say a word to the students that are doing the harrassing its a shame.
wizfan92301 1 year ago
I pray that those involved - including the school administrators who ignored complaints - die SCREAMING - and then, let the real NIGHTMARE begin!!!
gomergilligan 1 year ago
@gomergilligan Wow! That is highly inappropriate... Did the school teachers and administrators fail this young boy? Yes. Do they deserve death? No.
jlabrecque1 1 year ago
What's terrifying is, this boy had good, loving, and accepting parents, and *still* chose to kill himself... people just don't understand the intense damage that bullying does to children... I can't imagine what these parents are going through... and to have the school portray them as liars and deny the school's own culpability is simply outrageous.

When I hear stuff like this it brings me to tears. I was bullied when I was a kid. At times when I hear this I Feel I take life for granted. No one should ever take life for granted. We should treat all with respect regardless of skin colour, religion AND sexual orientation. We all bleed the same colour.
