  • Hi i love you videos. My bolt holding the carb up is messed. The nut's head broke off and the screw is still stuck in the hole. how do i get it out!?

    pleaseee help man!

  • whats the advantages or disadvantages of a non adjustable carburetor? thanks

  • @MrBikercat advantages are you don't need to adjust it

  • Hi Don, I can't find the carb bowl with fuel dump hole part number anywhere on the web, can you help ?

  • Super. My snowblower would only run with the choke on half. The valve didn't seem cogged but once reassembled the blower works perfect. Thanks!

  • I have a Sears Craftsman 11.5hp and initially looking like it's the same setup in the carb. My snow blower only only works with choke on after winter storage. For several years I left the gas in my blower with no problems in the spring. This year Irving revealed they are putting Ethanol in their regular gas which I was using. I let the blower almost run out of gas and replaced with their middle grade of gas. Didn't know I should drain the carb.

  • Just wanted to let you that your video was excellent! I have watched many other videos about how to clean the jet holes but you were the first to suggest using a thread of wire brush to clean the jet holes.

    Thanks again!

  • I really appreciate your help! This was my first attempt at working on a carburetor and your video helped me get my parents snowblower up and running.

    Much thanks from Maryland, USA.

  • I just wanted to thank you for providing this video. I was able to fix my snow blower by watching this. It was only run when full choke was applied. After cleaning the Jet the thing works perfect. Thanks a lot!

  • @dotNetSkillz ur welcome

  • I do not see any fuel shut off valve on my 9HP Craftsman 28. Is it hidden somewhere or the late model Craftsman not longer have a shut off valve? Is it OK to pinch the gas tube?

  • @vgs8606 u can pinch the line, some blowers didn't come with a fuel shutoff

  • Great video! All of your videos are excellent. Can you explain the rationale for taking off the wheel? I have Craftsman and the wheels are bolted on. I can get to the fixed jet with a wrench. If I were to remove only the jet, would the float stay in the carb?

  • @vgs8606 taking off the wheel is just to make it easier for some. the float will stay on if u only remove the jet

  • Excellent instructional video.. Thanks..

One of the best I've seen.

  • @retroclipps thank you sir

  • @donyboy73

Luckily mine has this exact carb setup.. I followed your instructions and now my machine is running smooth again.

Not only did you save me money, but also the hassle of getting the machine to the repair shop.

    Thanks again.

  • Excellent video--our snow blower was hard to start and was only running on full choke before. After cleaning the jets (which were pretty dirty) as you showed, it is as good as new!

  • 2 people took their snowblower to a repair shop before they found donyboy's channel.

  • so theres no adjustment to the jet at all just snug it?

  • @Crazzy2204 exactly, no jet, non adjustable carb,

  • CORRECTION: I removed bolt* (not nut) & followed the video without removing the bowl. I didn't want to wreck the bowl gasket if i didn't have to. I just needed to see if I could fix it before finding someone to fix it for me. Excellent video but I had to view a few to get to the part of how not to spill gas all over & I didn't want to turn my blower to the side if I didn't have to. I didn't have gloves I used a plastic bag & cardboard for drop cloths. Hope this helps another wife out there!!

  • Snowblower worked perfect then stalled/ran low on gas. I refilled, primed and started both electric/pull way but would only run a second or two then kill. Same the next day.I put the blower up on sawhorses so I could get to the carb bowl without removing the shield or tire. I pinched the gas line clip & pulled off hose to drain the gas from the tank then pushed up on the spring screw on the carb & drained little more gas from bowl. I removed nut & followed video without removing bowl. fixed thx

  • @mntornado62 good, sometimes just simply replacing the bowl and gasket will fix it too because sometimes it leaks through it

  • would this cuz this to surge and only run at high speed if its dirty?

  • @rocsvt1 yes it would cause it to surge

  • Great job. I don't know how I missed this one. It just came up as a suggested vid.

    5 stars, as usual. :-)

  • carburetors are F-ing devil.

Cause much of the worlds problems

  • very informative, thank you for the post.

i have a snowblower with a 5.5hp techumseh on it, i purchased it in the beginning of 2007 in february and sometimes under load it quits. not all the time. about 90% it runs great. what do you think could be the problem? with it under load?

  • Hey Donyboy73!

Just wanted to thankyou for a great video! I have a snowblower that is about 12 years old, and has been running rough (surging),and was about to take it in for repairs. I watched your video, and did exactly what you did, and now it works like new again!

Just wanted to say thanks....for making my life a little easier!

  • thanks, i appreciate it

  • this is very useful. I tried this and ran into one problem. it looks like the ring is too large to fit the carb. Do these stretch out? or am I doing something wrong?

I guess the thing i'm worried about is whether it is dangerous. e.g., could fuel leak out and start a fire?

i'm snowed in right now so getting a new ring is possible but not today.

  • sometimes they stretch . the only way to know is if the carb leaks after you install the bowl.

  • thanks. I just cut a little bit out of the seal and then put it back on. It worked great and i got my driveway done! I appreciate your video, otherwise I would have had to spend literally several days with a shovel here on the east coast of the U.S. in the blizzard of 2010. Thanks again!!!

  • A GREAT video DonyBoy73!

  • thanks

  • Cleaning the fixed jet bolt holes worked ..... and my snowblower started fine. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and the video! ....... Mike

  • Good video.

  • thanks

  • Clear and detailed video. I'm going to have to look up your others regarding the older carbs (adjustable, rather than fixed bolt)!

  • thanks

  • awsome video, very detailed and clear video....easy to understand even for a novice..

    very helpfull i am sure...

  • thanks man, I try to make tham so even a novice can do it.

  • I have a John Deere 1332DDE snowblower w/a Tecumseh 13H engine (2000 model). Worked great until this year - been missing & back firing - will shut down when brought to idle. I replaced the spark plug, tore apart the carb & rebuilt (thnx to your other videos). However, while the unit runs better, it runs super high on full throttle and still backfires with a flash in the exhaust - I believe the mixture is too high. Where are the settings to adjust the idle & gas mix? Suggestions or another video?

  • I will have to make a video

  • what was the problem?

  • do u mind rating the vid, thanks

  • OMG!! this video was a godsend!! I have a storm coming and my snowblower is a hand-me-down, and just would NOT start! I am small engine-retarded and this video sooo saved me. Thank you!!!
