  • This was pre-ste... TCB, massive influence on my coding childhood. 68000 mastered at 15 as a direct result...

Neal (Nes S of MMU DemoCrew89)

  • Quad coreeee!

  • It's nice to see that the ST can do much and much more than Amiga freaks thought.

  • The CareBears and the Exceptions (tEx), those guys were brilliant, watched many of their demos on the ST.

  • Music here is a bit raw and hard on ears but well done in places - not the best example of sample based music to be fair

I like a lot of the ST's soundtracks though because there had to be more emphasis on melody, given the limited nature of the sound chip

Some great compositions on both Amiga and ST but clearly Amiga Hardware was better suited to music writing

  • no, it was "pulse" from nerve-axis... one of my fav amiga demos...!

  • ey, this one is using samples from the ganja tune from "relics" ... or not?!

  • st demo

  • Sampled doesn't always mean better...sure, the sampled music you find in Amiga demos sounds pretty good..and normally, I can't stand the sound of an AY-3-8910/YM2149, but there are some people who are quite talented with pulling some good sounds out of these things, like Scavenger. There is a charm about good chiptunes that just can't be matched with sample-based synthesis. Still not an SID though ;)

  • exactely. scavenger was very talented. met him a few times but i guess mad max and scavenger never met during their active demo-times. i also like the stuff that an cool did for the carebears. i just dont like that particular tune that much. :)

  • Nice work from you, zeusgb. Thanks for loading that up on youtube. I remember that the carebears showed this screen to me in the beginning of the 90s when i visited them in sweden. at that time i was not allowed to talk about it in detail. i only used our guest screen in the ohh crikey to tell a little bit to the world. :)

love the good old times. we had so much fun back then. :D

  • Finally. An ST demo with some decent music.

  • sorry, but the only thing i did not like that much in that screen at the time tanis and nick showed it to me was in fact the music. i prefer some good handmade chiptunes from mad max. :)

  • Well, then you're an idiot. Sampled music like on the Amiga will always be better than those ghastly chiptunes. This is probably one of the more decent ST demos because of the music.

  • the track sounds too much of a not so good amiga demo.the chiptunes are more impressing to me because of how they are done.thats what the demos back then were all about.doing things that are normally not possible.there are good modfiles on the st and on the amiga. listen to spaz stuff he did. when it comes down to the melody and the samples i just dont like that song as much as many others.

relax and let others decide whos the idiot of the two of us.

  • Shame the mega demo was never finnished. They did amazing things on the ST and this screen is one of them. Thanks for posting it.

  • This is both ST and STE (1MB). It wasn't quite finished and was a screen that was meant for the brand new Carebears megademo (see the Respectables part of the Lost Boys demo Ohh Crikey Wot A Scorcher) that was never released.

I spoke to Tanis/TCB and he said that it seemed that most of the ideas they had for their new demo, other people had so the demo was never finished and he gave this screen to Dogue De Mauve/OVR to be spread.

  • this demo looks brilliant. i never had it though. must be on ste only

  • It was both I think but I might be wrong.

  • you are right, i read it on another website

  • TCB rulez !
