Fassbender in Hunger is incredible I get Goosebumps everytime i see it , Daniel Day Lewis in there will be blood and Gangs of New York anything Daniel Day Lewis does just blows me away.
haha Jake IS a kiss-ass. He's only saying that cuz Peter is his brother in law. and when he says "kiss-ass" i immediately thought of "fuck-ass". Donnie Darko anyone?lol
Couldn't agree more with Woody Harrelson; the main actor in The Lives of Others (Das Leban der Anderen) was absolutely amazing. It's sad he died soon after the film was released. It was his breakthrough performance.
Really Marion Cotillard in anything. I loved her in La Vie En Rose and although a lot of people didn't even like Nine I have to say that Marion's performance was inspired and beautiful (It was the first Marion movie I'd seen but afterwards I watched every performance of hers in English and a couple french ones as well)
@alexanderrobertking TOTALLY AGREED. The whole time I was watching this I was waiting for someone to say it... as soon as I saw the title of the video I knew Plainview was my answer.
@shesaid I really found it unbelievable that there was no mention of it. Scratch best performance of the decade, that performance is without a doubt one of the greatest of all time. It very seriously rivals (or exceeds) De Niro in Raging Bull or Hoffman in Midnight Cowboy.
How about Colin Firth in a Single Man? Mesmerizing performance. Also, Casey Affleck in The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford and Chris Cooper in Adaptation. And I think Harrelson got it exactly right; Ulrich Muhe in Das Leben Der Anderen was incredible.
From THIS decade: Marion Cotillard in ''La Vie en Rose'' Michael Caine in ''The Quiet American'' Helen Mirren in ''The Queen'' Christoph Waltz in ''Inglourious Basterds'' Cate Blanchett in ''Notes on Scandals'' and ''I'm Not There'' Phillip Seymour Hoffman in ''Capote'' Juliette Binoche in ''Chocolat'' Catalina Sandino Moreno in ''Mary Full of Grace'' Daniel Day Lewis in ''There Will be Blood'' Colin Firth in ''The King's Speech'' and Edward Norton in ''Primal Fear'' and ''American History X''
Totally agree with Mr. Morgan Freeman :) MERYL STREEP IN EVERYTHING! Hellooooo, ''Shophie's choice'' (one of THE GREATEST performance of ALL TIME) Roberto Benigni in ''Life Is Beautiful'' (such an heartbreaking film and performance) Jack Nicholson in ''One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest'' Tom Hanks in ''Forrest Gump'' and ''Philadelphia'' Katy Bates in ''Misery'' Cate Blanchett in ''Elizabeth'' Jodie Foster in ''The Accused''. So many in the greats performance in pass.. I can't describe all.
Daniel Day Lewis in "There Will Be Blood". Someone once told me that the way to tell if a movie was good or not was if you turn the volume all the way down and it's still entertaining...that's a good movie. I forget that he's Daniel Day Lewis, and not Daniel Plainview.
There r just too many 2 pick 1.here r some of my faves.cate blanchett in practically anything,julianne more-far from heaven,the hours,nicole kidman-moulin rouge,the hours,cold mountain,interpreter,australia.vanessa redgrave-atonement,kate,leo& micheal shannon-revolutionary road,javier bardem-no country...christoph waltz-inglorious basterds,monique,gabby s.-precious,charlize-monster,north country,joan allen,contender,upside of anger,ellen burstyn requiem 4 a dreamjust 2 many
erm EDWARD NORTON IN AMERICAN HISTORY X WTF? how can someone forget about that performance, COME ONE! ALSO DI CAPRIO AND WAHLBERG IN THE DEPARTED, FUCKING HELL EDDIE MURPHY? WTF!!
Yeah, Kate Winslet of course. Though her role in Titanic was rather 'boring', but her talent keeps shining since then. The more characters in various movies she involved, the more shining her talent became. Her character in 'The Reader' is absolutely stunning. She blended herself with every characters she played seamlessly. Unlike some stupid big names who always blend whatever characters they play to become themselves( and that's suck )
For me I'd say the best performance was Daniel Day Lewis in 'There Will Be Blood'. Other contender have been mentioned already including Jamie Fox in 'Ray'. I love Marion Cotilliard but I still haven't watched 'La Vie En Rose'. One of the moving performances of the last decade was Adrian Brody in 'The Pianist'. One that I think was very underated is Mickey Rouke's performance as the character Marv, in 'Sin City'. That for me was even better than his performance in 'The Wrestler'.
