  • the only thing not impressive about this video is the spotter, look at that guy...im sure if you dropped that on your chest, you would be shit out of luck

  • @slimbw93 That's what I have the spotter racks for.I have failed with lifts as high as 440 lbs and he has pulled them off of me.Looks can be deceiving!

  • my bench, as well as other lifts, have been stalling or going down lately. i tried rgbp with light weight and felt weird. felt it a lot in my triceps though. how wide should your grip be? do u bring it lower on your chest than regular bp?ever have problems w grip giving out? thanx.

  • @secutorclaudius I think reverse grip is best with a wide grip.I go with my ring finger right on the smooth ring on the bar.I bring the bar slightly lower on the chest than a reguar grip bench but only slightly.Reverse grip benching is very dangerous.I would only do them with spotter racks or in a power rack. It's also good to have spotter as well to give a lift off because it's much harder un-racking the bar with the reverse grip.

  • @HHH396 thanx, u answered all my questions/ worries, especially about unracking the bar. i'll def get a spotter.

  • yikes, i wish i was that strong, how long have you been bench pressing? keep up the excellent work!

  • @weightliftingvlog Thank you! I've been lifting steady for about 16 yrs.

  • Beastly bro....4 reps reverse-grip with that much weight is insane. I can't wait to see 4 plates. Makes me want to get back to the bench...

  • @BRETZERR Thanks a lot Randy! I'll tell you what though,it gets pretty scary as the weights get higher.I never use to like these.I would try them and say nope those aren't for me but this this time around they feel good.I'll probably do them for a week or two then i'll go back to my reg grip.

  • @BRETZERR That last part went right by me when i read the comment before. When are you going to start up on the bench again?

  • very nice lift. strong .

  • @jrp5571 Thanks man,I appreciate it!

  • does reverse work more on the biceps?

  • @krazziejrboi No,i don't feel it at all in the biceps.

  • i just had the worst workout of my life mark..i dont even think you have workouts this bad ever man....i was going for a set of 5with 255 on bench..and i BARELY got 2.....i was doing so well got to 290...and now im back to where i was in 2008 FUCK EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!111 and imy leg hurts...it hurt when i woke up...does your body randomly ache even whe nu havent lifted

  • @rctriplefresh5 It's how weightliting goes.I had a run of about a half dozen poor workouts in a row a while back. You've had a pretty long run of really good workouts, huitting a lot of PR's.The downside of hitting a bunch of PR's is it gets hard trying to continually break those PR's.The stronger you get the harder it becomes to make gains.I've had this problem for yrs.You jsut have to suck it up during the weak times....the strong workouts will come. You just have to roll with the punches man!

  • Solid work Mark!

  • @powabuilda Thanks Nate! Hopefully I'll get 405 soon.

  • good job mark! 315 normal grip must feel so light after 365 reverse haha

  • @SML693 Thanks bro! Yeah it does feel a lot lighter with the regular grip.

  • Nice job man. What happened to your 400 plus bench presses?

  • @cford77 Thanks Cyrus! I still have the 400 + bench.I'm trying to hit 4 plates with the reverse grip, when I get that I will make a run for 440 with my normal grip.

  • very strong set!

  • @bomdigi1 Thanks Jb!

  • Impressive as hell as always big guy! Is it true you'll be playing the Incredible Hulk in the "Avengers' movie, lol?

  • @fleiscd Haha thanks buddy!

  • wow Mark awesome strength! here you are reverse gripping this much and here i dream of benching this much regular grip

  • Hey Mark 365 x 4 still puts you at around a 415 max, I think you should try 405 sooner or later, I think you do it! Your still very strong on these for someone who does them rarely, you haven't been doing them long.

  • @WeightLifterNerd Thanks Jared! I think I have a good chance at 405 lbs.I just have to get over the fear factor. These lifts are very dangerous at these weights. One wrong move and the bar can fall right out of your hands or even go towards your waist.I like them but they are one of the most dangerous lifts u can do.I'll see how I feel next week,if I feel strong I will go for 405.If I feel weak (like i did this week) I will go with something lighter. One way or another i will get 4 plates or more.

  • well a 415 estimated max def gives you a good shot of 405 since its 10 pounds lighter.

I was going to add that you should def adjust your spotter catchers so that they almost touch your chest just slightly under. If it drops on your chest it may just nip it if the catchers are high enough and save you tons of damage. make sure to grip as firm as possible too!

  • Not sure. I think I got five on tape. Seven is my best.

  • wow. now i have to start doing those again, hahaha.

  • @bigfattrolllord Thanks bro! Yeah why did you take your reverse grip video down. That was good shit man. What did you do 365 x 6 or 7?

  • 365 X 4 with a reverse grip? And you're disappointed? Oh Mark, you poor bastard. I'm only able to hit 225 X 5. You should be very proud of yourself. You showed a great deal of front delt and tricep strength with this feat on the reverse grip bench press. I actually doubt that Chris (Ludichris8531) could do what you just did.

  • @cyberkai99 I know,I expect a lot out of myself. It's funny because not only have I never done 365 x 4,I've never done it for 1 rep haha...but I was still expecting to hit it for 6 reps.lol! I do think if I felt strong I could've done at least 5 maybe 6.I'll probably go 385 x 2-3 next week or I might just try a max with 4 plates. Then I will start back with my normal grip and see what kind of strength gain the reverse grip has given me.

    Thanks for the comment Gavin!

  • 315x11 on a 3rd set thats AWESOME!

  • @tlast2O12dude Thanks Pablo,appreciate it buddy!

  • @Kazmaier Thanks buddy!

  • The 365x4 looked pretty solid to me. Well done Mark!

  • @kraftsportNO Thanks a lot Per!

  • @Kazmaier heer give 5000? me gvie 5001

  • nice work! bobbys looking swole.

  • @rctriplefresh5 Thanks brother! Bobby is what?

  • hello roky :)

  • @freeze00000 Thanks bro!

  • i mean when the weight is heavier it feels harder to push the way you want with a new exercise , i messed my typing up on that last comment lol

  • @BIGDADDYJOHNSON27 Yeah I agree and this is a very new exercise for me.I've only played around with it a few times in over 16 yrs.I never liked they way it felt.Strangely it feels better to me now.Still very awkward, mostly because of the grip.

My goal is to hit 4 plates this way.

  • damn your getting up their in strength man.

i think you have a 500lb bench press in your future for sure

  • @BIGDADDYJOHNSON27 Thanks bro! Well 500 is a long ways off,but I would love to be able to do that.I have to get 440 and 450 out out the way first haha

  • Great work Mark! that was probably your first time benching 365 much less for reps with that grip.

  • @IncredibleHulkRobert Thanks Robert! Yeah I don't think I have ever attempted that much before.I think about 5-6 yrs ago I did like 335 lbs but that's when I didn't like the exercise. Now they feel pretty good.

  • jood job u c my new video

  • @shrefflercinnbj500 Thanks Bj! No i didn't see your new vid.I'll check it out!
